ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

    • dont cross your fingers yet. both of my orders were in the status of "released to manufacturing" since yesterday.

      • Does it mean it will be honored? I don't want to ring them up to check the order status……

  • +8

i sold my old laptop yesterday :( . what i am going to do ?

    • +22

Say it was a pricing error

    • Cry?? you have been kogan'd!!

    • +1

      Hastiness sucks :(

  • +18

But let's act - it is time for some enthusiastic and positive social media posts to Lenovo Australia (& NZ)…

Given I've seen no order cancellation email yet I think that a bunch of thank-you posts expressing mass appreciation for their weekend price-drop are in order.

The smart move would be to absolutely state nothing negative (yet). And perhaps ask their social media person (clearly only one person duping same content on both accounts!!) to let the regional manager of sales know ASAP of our gratitude and our anticipation. Neg will undermine possible value to them of positive publicity.

    • +5

Actually we need to bring the mother-ship into this.

So please ensure that your positive tweet to @Lenovo_ANZ also includes @lenovo and the hash-tag: #lenovo

      Or…

      @lenovo
      @lenovodeals
      @lenovo_uk
      @lenovosocial
      @lenovoforums
      @lenovopress

And you can bet they are reading this thread - so let's help them respond well by keeping tweets and FB thank-you posts positive. We can save this deal yet!

all the grief to talk the wife into allowing me to spend my money to buy it for nothing..

Sometimes its easier to get forgiveness than permission.

Fortunately my wife would not notice my laptop upgrade, so long as it is the same colour.

  • That's it. lets start a Lenovo Thunderclap.
    https://www.thunderclap.it/

  • If there is a known issue, known orders to be cancelled, how long is it going to take them to get back to us?

  • Nice

  • -5

I say it before and I say it again. Price error bargains should be banned as it only wastes everyone time and very very rare cases the vendor will honour it. I bet someone reading this thread reported to Lenevo to disappoint everyone.

Lets just hope we get the $1 headphones at least and also the refund in the timely manner given they have to 'process' so many refunds and their call centre always takes about 20mins to get hold of a rep.

This is my last time buying anything due to price error.

    • +5

How would you know prior to confirmation from a seller what is and is not a "pricing error"?

If you don't buy something due to "pricing error" I bet you will be like the boy who cried wolf.

      • Isn't it quite obvious that a FHD screen costs more than a HD screen and they had the price other way around?

        • +3

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116348?page=1#comment-1591… screen shots of live chat from the weekend

        • +1

Not really. Its obviously a possibility. But I got a full-HD kindle tablet at the same price the lower-def was selling for, and much less than a samsung low-def tablet. If they are clearing old models and have an excess of the HD screens, its not unreasonable. Especially after so many people contacted Lenovo to confirm it.

    • +2

But you know the order you don't buy will be fulfilled! no loss here, only an opportunity for a amazing price.

      • No a loss for those who spent time on this and the anticipation of have it delivered. But looks like most of the crowd here dont care about that.

    • +7

So you're complaining that 'price error' bargains shouldn't be on here, but you're still hoping to get the $1 headphones??? mmm, sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. If they honour the deal we get a cheap laptop, if they don't we get a refund.

      • -5

FYI, the $1 headphones was not a price error. Yes Im hoping for the $1 phones as a compensation to the time wasted. How is that hypocritical?

        • +1

From online dictionary: Hypocritical: possessing the characteristics of hypocrisy: Isn't a politician hypocritical for talking about human dignity while voting against reasonable social programs?

          Or…
Isn't an ozbargainer hypocritical for talking about banning price errors while still purchasing the offer?

        • never mind. You dont understand what I'm trying to say. With few recent price error deals, I just don't want people to feel disappointed. I've learnt my lesson not to bother with such deals in future. Good luck to you.

    • +1

Cmon man. If like me, you used a credit card on the chance it was a price error, you would have had no financial impact and potential receive a free giftcard/gift for your inconvenience. i.e. kogan, amart, fishpond etc.

      • +1

Agreed. I learnt my lesson on not to buy price error deals, as I can guarantee these days it wont work. I take my comment back reg not posting such deals, I only said that to avoid disappointment.

    • Pretty sure their web server logs contain thousands of links to this thread - one for every clickthrough. May even be how they figured out the error - monday morning traffic analysis - wtf so many clicks from this one page - what is it?

  • +2

How come I cannot click on Live Sales Chat?

  • glad I didn't order 2.

and I agree they took too long to act if it was a price error.

  • I am trying to work out whether the price error is just for the E531 Full HD, i.e. $120 subtracted rather than added when upgraded to FHD, or the price error applies to both E330 and E531 deals.

If E330 deal is still going ahead, we'll need to work out how to mark this deal or whether to move this to forums.

    • Yeah, need someone with a base i3/4g/noupgrades E330 order to confirm if there are any cancellations or released to manufacturing.

I'm also getting the idea that it may be the base e531s with no upgrades (but fhd for discount) will be cancelled..

There is no more artic blue option to select for the e330, lucky I put in a direct deposit order so I have more time to think about it while the price is locked at $352 (wifi upgrade) :p

      • if this is the case, one of my e531 will be canceled (base model) and the other one will be delivered (upgrade the graphic card). this is not bad, as i tried to cancel the base model yesterday before i placed the order for a better one.

        HOWEVER….

    • Well my understanding is that the E330 is no longer for sale so probably of no use anyway.

    • If E330 deal is still going ahead, we'll need to work out how to mark this deal or whether to move this to forums.

Edit the deal by removing the info about the E531 and leave the E330 as is

  • The real question now is how long will the refunds take? Mine still shows pending in PayPal and I emailed my cancellation to Lenovo this morning.

  • No option for FHD Screen anymore

    • has not been for hours

  • My order status changed to "Released to Manufacturing" in the last hour.
So one is hoping it'll still be delivered.
    Fingers crossed.

    • Hey could you post which model you got and what upgrades + final price? Trying to work out if the e330s are being honoured

      • +1

it is pointelss at this stage. both my e531 orders were changed to the status of released to manufacturing yesterday.

        • Did you get a cancellation email for either? :/

        • not YET.

        • SAME AS MINE

    • What web address do u check the status I can only see my order details no status

      lol
they may honor this order, as they can make profit from your ram upgrade.

      • LOL.
Yeah, I know I could get extra 4GB much cheaper, but couldn't be bothered.
I'm more then happy to pay extra $20~30 for RAM if they deliver the lappy. :-)

        • Yeah, you also upgraded the hard drive, CPU alongside the ram, hope all goes well for you :)
Did you use the sepwelc2013 coupon?

        • +1

Well I did go for Intel i5 version & it was standard hdd with that model.
~$80 extra for faster CPU & bigger hdd wasn't a bad deal.
          Yes I did use sepwelc2013.

  • The Whole Situation is not helped when you have Buffon's like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ThinkPad-Edge-E531Express-Core-i3…
Trying to Sell 10 for more than Lenovo's Web Price, just to make a quick Buck. And he's not the only one.

    • +3

yeah you can bet these idiots ordered 20 of them to try and make a quick buck…way to ruin it for everyone.

    • That listing has now ended with "no longer available".
I think their aim was to reprocess any orders they may have got on ebay.

  • +25

What's with all you eager beavers ringing Lenovo and going on Live Chat? You only serve to reduce what little chances there are of this deal being honoured to zero.

Seriously, just wait for the cancellation email if they do indeed admit it was a pricing error.

    • +12

The moral of the story is, if you have discovered an obvious price error, do not post it in ozbargain.

      • How about having a paid "premium" Ozbargain service where "secret" pricing errors can be posted ?

  • +1

Has anyone had an E330 cancelled yet?

  • if they do not honor this deal, that means lenovo is evil, they took our money and hold on to them for the weekend + a few days, and then cancel our order. They must have use our money to gamble on the share market + foreign exchange market for a few days and return them to us.
Like what most banks do. Maybe they are a bit dodgy to borrow more $ from bank.

    • Money is evil.

    • +1

      sorry. We got koganed..

    • -1

Lenovo may well be evil, being at least partly owned by the Chinese govt, but that has nothing to do with the fact that they made a simple pricing mistake. If you put an ad made of an a4 page for each number of the price on your windscreen and a 0 fell off, would you feel obliged to sell your car for 90% off, or just apologise profusely? Would you be evil if you went for the apology? of course not!
(Evil would be smacking the guy round for insulting you by thinking you would sell it for so little and then telling him to f off lol)

  • +22

You know what they say - It's better to have OzBargained and lost than never to have OzBargained at all.

  • -5

WHO'S LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING KOGAN'D!?!?

Not me. Didn't buy it lol.

Ps. I hope scotty is working hard behind the scenes making sure this deal goes through to keep a potential angrier mob from hurting someone.

    • +3

Angry mob? Do you not remember this? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/66808

      • I thought everyone got over that by now…

…guess I was wrong. This is probably the best time for a smart company to swoop in and offer an amazing deal which they honour to earn some great credibility (HINT).

      • Back in my day we used to get angry over Dell Vostro price errors.. those were the days.

  • …no way..what..is happening to Ozbargain these days.. Amazoned, Koganed, and now Lenovoed!!!!!
Why isn't this moved to forum, ~?~?~?

  • +15

Everyone should just take chill pill.
Stop ringing Lenovo, don't chat with the reps - just wait & see.
If you get it - great.
If not - no big deal as far as I'm concerned.
Big thanks to OP & let's hope at least some will get their lappys.

    • +1

Agreed, But i think its a bit to late for that, Most forgot the Pill this morning and got straight on the Blower or live Chat,Because waiting a day or two is just not on.

    • +1

      Was that a haiku?

  • +1

Today I got the following Lenovo emails:

    Confirmation for order# 42461*****
    Change notification: Lenovo order 42461*****

On the order page I get:

    Status: Order Processing
    Estimated Delivery Date: [blank]

I called CS, and they said there was no problem with the order.

    What's this Pricing Error malarkey.

    • Someone called and confirmed its price error.

    • +2

PS: I didn't ask if it was a pricing error… I told them the order details page had an error, when is my order coming. They ask for my order #, and said confirmed the details and said they'd speak to the web developers regarding the error.

  • +1

Lol, if they honoured the E330 sales then i would of just in physicists terms "joined to an object along an inclined plan wrapped helically around an axis" (Big Bang Theory reference) myself as i cancelled my E330 for the E531 this morning.

PS: The sales reps are the bottom of the organisational food chain. They'll know last and probably expect that whatever is on the website is to be true.

    • I too was tossing up between the E330 and E531 and in the end went with the E531.

I will be kicking myself if what you said comes true

  • +8

this seller (reza_hoseiny @ Darlington, Sydney, NSW) is obviously monitoring OzBargain…….

    he took the E531 down
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190902412185

and the E330 is still up!
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/190902410426

    • One would question the intelligence of putting your real name as a seller for the controversial sale of a product.

    • sleuthing +1

    • +3

I am thinking to bid on the ad when Lenovo sent the cancelation emails, to see what he is going to do.

      • ^lol^

      • Remember seller always has the option of pulling their auction with "item no longer available".

    • Kinda like this guy's description better

"A birthday gift from family, no use to me, Brand new…"

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-ThinkPad-Edge-E330-Laptop-…

      • Lol pick up after ~3 days and someon bided on it.
I really want to know what is going to happen <<< added to watch list

        • +1

This listing was ended by the seller because the item was lost or broken.

          Lol.

      • oh no…..!!!!!!

suddenly this seller have use for his laptop now……………

    • "Free local pick up from Darlington, Sydney, 2006" Someone should buy one, and get their address & sign them up to heaps of spam magazines and what not.

    • 4 hrs to go on the imaginary laptop!

  • What a waste of time! Told yall we gona get kogan'd!!

    • +1

I get negged for having my order cancelled..

      • It happens when everyone is in a bad mood, and you jump out to remind them the truth.

  • Any one received the cancellation email?

    • +1

I am interested to see how well its managed, something tells me it will be basic, emotionless and do a little damage to the brand.

Would be smarter to honor their mistake, for every + there are probably another 50 users who are watching.

Would love to know how many orders they are potentially canning.
