There's Quad Core Tablets (under $100)
http://dx.com/p/freelander-pd30-quad-core-8-ips-capacitive-s…

Exynos 7" tab for $88
http://dx.com/p/freelander-pd10hd-7-ips-exynos4412-quad-core…

THL W8 Quad Core phone ($116)
http://dx.com/p/thl-w8-android-4-1-quad-core-bar-phone-w-5-0…

Update:

http://dx.com/mayhalfprice?utm_source=dx&utm_medium=cdn&utm_…

According to this, they will be rotating the deals throughout the day (800 SKUs with total quantity of 40,000) to cover a bunch of other products too. Check back whenever you can to see if theres anything new!

Update 2:

http://dx.com/mayhalfprice/Default/ShoppingList

They have pushed out another list of more items! It does verify the theory that the initial page was for DX AU deliveries whilst this is the International 50% off section. Please be aware that there will be longer delivery times for this since it needs to be shipped directly from China as opposed to the DX AU (which apparently has warehouse in Perth).

Update 3:
Offer is pretty much officially "Ozbargained" with the only remaining stock to be either very specialist products (Spare battery for product x), Seasonal products (Christmas), or stuff that not many people want. The only thing I am hoping for is that they can fulfill all orders so everyone is happy.

DX has subtly stated however, (Broken English) "If the customers who participate in this activity are more than expected which results in lack of product supply, we have to process refund for the oversold items, please kindly understand." which may account for some people's Paypals reported refunded against.

Update 4:

Have to apologise in advance to anyone who doesnt get the stock for this deal. Despite being the OP and putting the order through before others, I have now received a cancellation against my two orders (W8 and PD10). It is seemingly like a lottery to get stock. Very very disappointed. :(

Update 5:

After a disappointing weekend, DX has now come back to affected customers with a voucher that's worth 15% of the original total order. So, if your order was $200, then they will give you back $30 worth as a rebate in compensation to be used in DX. Apparently the stock is still available - but not it has changed to a different SKU but they are offering 15% off the original price. This is pretty beneficial if your original order was expensive (and hence you can get back a higher rebate value) - but typically most would only have done a $200 order with $30 rebated.

The new link is here: http://dx.com/l/au-direct/2013-02/special-items.aspx

As you can see, the deal is nowhere near as good as before. However, it is up to you as an individual to see if it is still good value enough to continue making the purchases.

Pleasure.. I dont post much but this deal was too awesome not to!

        • Wow!! awesome deal

        • Did any one receive their products after this deal?
I've ordered mine few weeks back and they have shipped them already but so far got nothing.

        • Yes. Quite a lot of people have received their orders. I would suggest contacting them on the live support in your DX account settings and see where this is at or if they can help speed it up.

    • +1

sorry for reply to this but

Worldwide site has 50% now, started now

    • WOW indeed! :)

  • Anyone got any word about
    http://dx.com/p/ditter-v12-android-4-1-mini-pc-google-tv-sti…
    Ditter V12 Android stick…for only $28.17?!?

    • +2

The Ditter V12 is the dual core version RockChip RK3066 for $20 bucks…, amazing deal !

      • Bought one :) seems best value other than the W8 ~

      • Do they have access to Google Play and can I install any android app on this?

      • How easily do these kinds of Android dongles deal with Windows Media shares (as in network shared files)?

Do I need a specific app for it?

      • Okay, picked up a Ditter V12 Android stick. Does anyone have details about rooting or ROMing these puppies?

    • Does anyone know what are the available free TV channels on this Android stick such as mk808 or Ditter V12?

My wife like to watch Korean/Asian Drama, just curious if those are also avail on this stick.

Last year I was interested to buy ROKU but then I cancelled because it seems only a few free TV channels available if ROKU is used in Oz.

      Many thanks.

I'm getting this to clean my $2 coin from thenile.com.au

    http://dx.com/p/professional-mini-ultrasonic-cleaner-220v-96…

According to the picture it has " intellectualized time hypothesis". I can't even begin to put a price on this ground breaking technology.

  • Any idea how long this goes for or when the code expires?

As for the deal: NERDGASM! XO

    • +2

Ohhhhh, I get it. "How Long". Very witty. Maybe he's the employee losing his job over this deal.

  • I bought the phone. Website estimates 7 days to arrival..

    Can't wait.

    • I just bought the phone too, without thinking as usual… :P

Did you watch the sample videos of it on YouTube ?, amazing quality !!!

      • +4

Didn't watch reviews, but I did read through XDA forums for feedback. I'm more impressed that people say that the battery lasts for more than a day. My SGS2 doesn't last that long. There are some problems with the phone though — some say that the headset volume is either too loud or soft, but that's probably fixable with ROM updates.

Link to the latest ROMS available:
        http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249808&noc…

        • EDIT:Thanks for the link scrim, seems like great support for the device too…

I meant its video capture quality, AMAZING for the price we just paid ! lol

        • +1 for the link, I was on the edge about the phone, but 3rd party roms tipped me over :D

        • -1

Good luck guys. I just read some review from Chinese forums and the W8 quality seems appallingly bad. Problems include overheat, system hung, dust leakage, high fault rate etc.

      • +1

        available memory 1.77gb lol

    • I went nuts over the phone too - but only to find the 4GB storage.. Will have to Link2SD or something to it.

    • hmm assume its sold out as this is the only one there now:

      http://dx.com/p/tesveden-t101-android-4-0-gsm-smartphone-w-3…

Seems the one in the OP link still works with the discount though :D

  • Thousands? Am I missing something?

    • I thought there may be other items not included in that list as OP said 'thousands' and I've been looking for them. guess not. LOL

According to this, there are other products waiting to be discounted. I am thinking they will be rotating the set of goods through the day to cover off the other things. Check back every so often to find new stuff!

Bedtime for me.. cant believe theres bargain lurkers that stay up as late as moi.

  • any way to sort items that are part of this deal? Looks like only items shipped using Toll, but i can't limit it to this criteria

  • seems to be a limited range of discounted stuff, not thousands.
seems to be not very enticing to me; some of the things the original price is way overpriced.

    but thanks for posting anyway.

Going to hold on the money for them to cycle through the apparently other hundreds/thousands of stuff for half price..

Cant believe I got the Freelander 7" (identical to the Hyundai T7) for $88.. A bit disappointed that the THL is only 4GB but will have to root and redirect or extend the folder to the SD Card..

  • +3

haha i'm on a spending spree!

    • is any of the stuff good here? like worth spending?

      • I'm planning to buy the reverse sensor(my friend has one and it works great) and a tablet

      • The bike lights are worth getting. If you ride bikes, that is.

        • +1

And also ride said bike in the dark.

        • +1

… when it has snowed and the houses you pass have lots of rose bushes.

          (true story).

        • Any bike light in particular? I had a quick look and there was a lot of stuff to go through.

        • too late. But the XM-L emitter with 4x18650 li-ion kits are the way to go.

  • I'm curious if this comes with an AU plug http://dx.com/p/kada-936d-digital-soldering-station-with-eng…

    Does anyone know?

    • +4

Someone does but they are likely to be in china and unlikely to be on ozbargain

    • Looking at the pics looks like a US plug, my guess is thats what you'll get.

      • Thought as much never shopped there b4 though.

    • i m hesitated for this too. is this any worth?

  • +1

how do you guys manage to find stuff that are on sales?

    • +1

dx sent emails to previous buyers =]

    • +3

Like I did at first, I think this person thought that the entire AU stock was on sale and when trying to add some items it didn't work on most things. Later I found out their was, because I found something that linked to this http://e.dx.com/collection/201305/au-direct-50off/index.html

  • I'm usually all for deals, but I'm smelling something fishy here.

  • +1

I'm a bit concerned regarding warranty.
"Customer has to cover shipping cost both way".
So there is a risk, and if any of the product stop working in a week, then guess what… prepare to bear the shipping cost. So, cheap price vs warranty cost risk…

  • the code isnt working for stuff in the au direct section?

is it only for some o_0

    • +1

It's not for all products, it for allocated stock that will rotate every X hours

      • alright gonna go for the THL w8 phone
seems like an awesome deal, yea guys? >.<

        • Very tempting to purchase one for my mum, as her old one is slowly dying away.

I think it would probably be the best buy so far

        • +2

Seems like good value. Only thing is seems like doesn't have 900mhz WCDMA (Optus 3G)

        • im on optus 3g as well @_@
does this mean it wont work?

        • +1

You won't be able to get 3G unless your in an area with 2100mhz 3g. For the suburbs you'll likely be stuck on 2G speeds, unless the chipset supports 900 and you are able to enable it somehow. Guessing though that being a chinese phone if it supported it, it would be enabled already.

        • ah, i live in melbourne city so it should work hopefully =]

        • the phone has Frequency GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz, WCDMA 850/2100
          isnt optus using GSM, though?

        • GSM is like 2G no data. WCDMA is like 3G DATA :)
Well I assume that's the answer! It's late and I'm tired so I could be wrong.

        • Metro coverage is 2100MHz (suburbs included)
          regional coverage is 900MHz

    or

    http://dx.com/p/freelander-pd80-hd-9-7-capacitive-screen-and…

also thinking of grabbing the ditter
    http://dx.com/p/ditter-v12-android-4-1-mini-pc-google-tv-sti…

anybody have any recommendations, reviews and/or general opinions about the above?

    • +2

Freelander is not a very popular tablet model (unlike Cube, Ainol, Ramos etc) so there is very little community support in terms of custom ROMS, root methods and such.

I'm also tempted to upgrade from my Cube U30GT to the Freelander PD80s but I couldn't find any ROMS for it. No instructions on rooting either.

      • Thats another one of my concerns as I pretty much run custom roms on all of my devices (phone, tablets, android head unit for my car).
But the FREELANDER PD80-HD has some pretty impressive specs and is cheaper than the other one I mentioned. Very tempted…

Trying extremely hard to talk myself into buying my first tablet. What are the advantages of owning one of those over my laptop?

      • +2

Nothing really, except its more portable and good for casual games (touch screen and tilt controls etc). Good for sitting on the couch and using the internet or playing a game. I don't think it can replace a laptop though.

      • +1

If money is not an issue, I would grab a convertible laptop to suit both needs but they only run Windows 8.

In my experience, the best OS is Android when it comes to tablets. A tablet however, will not do everything your laptop can do and they serve different purposes. They are more portable (however my ultrabook is extremely portable for what it is), and can serve general needs.

      • +1

i only use my tablet to read my school pdfs mainly now
extremely mobile, laptops probably better overall
although the price looks good to get a tablet

        • Thanks for the replies. I've just bought one. It's only $100, and I'm sure I'll find some use for it. My current laptop is 17", so this is definitely more portable.

        • Im sure you wont be disapointed, they are great for movies, reading doc's, surfing and extremly portable, i have a few and rarely use my laptop unless im doing serious work… definatly not a replacement, but more for casual use.

Thinking about those tabs too.. Does the non-HD one have a better processor?

      • I'm not too sure, but I don't think the processor is the decider here.

The non-HD has bluetooth, the HD does not.

At the moment, thats the only thing stopping me buying it. Do I really need bluetooth? Other than possibly connecting a bluetooth keyboard, I can't think of anything else??

        • I was just about to pull the trigger on the HD one and just noticed that also..

I've got another tab with bluetooth. I connected a keyboard once to try it out, but not really something I use.

I did buy bluetooth headphones to watch shows on XBMC over wifi, but trying to use bluetooth headphones at the same time as wifi causes the wifi signal to become basically unusable for some reason. So the one thing I would use bluetooth for I can't. I don't know how many other tabs have this problem but a search did turn up a lot of people complaining about the same problem with various tabs.

Not sure from the photos if the HD has a full size USB port or thats the HDMI. Wonder if could use one of those compact bluetooth dongles.

        • CM10 rom gives USB bluetooth connectivity apparently.

          http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/65290-rom-cyanogenmod-10-for…

          Taken from http://www.pandawillforum.com/showthread.php?17416-Latest-RO…

This is assuming the PD80HD and the PD80 wise are the same (or if screen resolution doesn't make a difference).

Apparently the A31 with the PowerVR GPU is better for gaming etc than the Exynos with the Mali400 GPU. Something to do with the polygon filling rate and pixel rate. Someone else had posted this in one of the comments earlier, I can't remember who. Credit to that user for the link.
