not the deal, just my post. I posted a comment but later found out it was on the wrong deal! So keep sending negatives to it plz

  • Sydney to Melbourne is still $68

    • They don't start that flight till July, hence it's not on sale

      • -2

Well did they even bother putting Sydney -> Melbourne in the "Fly anywhere for $30" section??

Apparently if you live in NSW, you can fly anywhere in the whole entire country for just $30, as long as it's in Melbourne.

    • incorrect. The flights to Sydney don't start until after the sale is over.

      • Well why does sydney to melbourne come up when I click on the massive fucking banner that says $30 flights? Why put it in the sale section if it's not part of the sale?

        • -1

Because where the bloody hell else can they put it, nobody will know they fly to Sydney. Who cares anyway, there was $23 Sydney fares the other day if you were quick.

  • just pray your flight isnt cancelled!

    • a flight hasn't been canceled with Tiger in 6 months. No more "Changes to Flight times" have been issued of late due to the fact that their schedules are actually 100% in place.

I think you need to pray your MEL-SYD flight on Virgin isn't canceled, they have the highest rate of cancellations on this route in the whole country. Wont help with Tiger coming along either…

Just booked a flight for me and a couple of friends for a weekend in Melbourne. Gonna watch the Carlton+Collingwood game while over there. Also, get very drunk.

    Good deal!

    • +1

me too - I booked a return from perth - going to go watch the Hawks again at the G =)

  • Excellent deal. Just booked return flight to Melb. Awesome post

  • TIGER ALWAYS cancels flights.

Today Tonight, a TV program, has a series about this:

    http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/travel-news/tiger-…

    • If they always canceled flights, then why hasn't there been one canceled for 6 months?????. You are either a Jetstar supporter or anti-tiger digging up that old link there 1.5years ago.

      • I am VERY anti-Tiger.

They ALWAYS cancel flights; including one 2 months ago.

I am anti-any Airlines that ever cancels flights, including Virgin, Qantas, & Jetstar.

        • well good luck finding your airline that dosn't cancel flights. Their aint one out there!

          • @Sunstar320: But Tiger delay their fly very often!!!
Their recent one was on late last month delay about 2h30'+ arrived in Melb 1am.
            C YA LATER Tiger…

  • Not really $30 each way. Just bought a MEL-CBR return. Turns out to be $45 each way. A full 50% more than their headline. That 1 little asterisk can hide so much ;)

    Ticket Fare AU 60.00
    Convenience Fee AU 10.00
    Luggage Fee AU 20.00
    Total Cost AU 90.00

    • -1

you don't have to take luggage, you added that as an extra. The flight does cost 30 dollars, paying with a credit card is 5 dollars extra and then you wanted to take luggage so you pay for that too.

It's not Tigers fault you paid by CC and decided to bring extra stuff.

      • There is only ONE WAY to pay the discounted fares, which is with credit cards. (if you call, the discount does not apply). So tell me exactly how to do otherwise.

        • +3

So tell me exactly how to do otherwise.

Use a Tiger travel agent such as your local corner travel agent which is Tiger accredited or www.eflight.com.au.

          But it's not realistic.

I agree: NO AIRLINE shouldn't be charging credit card fees if this is the only realistic method of payment.

  • -2

If I just paid $90 for a MEL-CBR return, then it cost $45 per flight. How can my grandmother go anywhere and not take luggage? How else can you pay? Tiger goes for the cheap headline then adds on extras to jack up the price. Other airlines don't do this.

    • +2

      LOL, your grandmother!

If the old bag needs to take bags she gotta pay for it!

      Thats the way it works!

    • Jetstar advertise like this as well. They always advertise Jetsaver Light fares. Not everyone needs check-in luggage.

    • +2

your poor granny can pay full fare at an airline company more aimed at her needs!

  • -2

The credit card fee is a scam - it has no relationship to any actual cost.
AND its a bait and switch - no cheap PER->MEL tickets left at any time,
even though the promo period has barely begun, and they still advertise it.

    • +1

yeh, i'm having trouble finding anything, pain, because i need to go to perth (from melb) mid may, and can't find anything, would have been nice…

as for the cc fee - whilst i really don't like it, don't all of the airlines charge this? and it does relate to an actual cost - they have to pay a certain amount everytime they accept a cc, just as every other business does (but it should be worked into the cost, as it is with most other business's).

EDIT: Actually, at $98 one way, still much cheaper to fly tiger than the other airlines, on the days i selected (looking at about $180-190 on the other airlines, according to iwantthatflight.com.au)

      • Qantas charges a fee for credit cards, but accepts bank transfer.
And card fees are around 2% max normally. Tiger is charging 17% here.
The point is, they are lying. Airlines do that, but normally the regulation is better in Australia.

  • Competition in the Airline industry is always good if all the players are genuine "good faith" players who don't want to rip off consumers.

However, Tiger Airways is the WORST in all areas for rip-off's , according to Choice Magazine:

    http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticle.aspx?id=106798&catId=10…

Tiger Airways is one airline I hope gets A LOT better, and soon.
