    OP do you happen to know how much they charge normally ?
    Thanks

    • Sorry, I don't know (no prices listed on the website). You'll have to give them a call to get a quote for your specific vehicle.

      …from the email they sent me when i booked my car(sedan BMW 525i)last november :
      ">>>> Octane - Black is Back -

      RRP $495.00 CAN DO FOR $395.00 with local promo we are running
      * Lifetime Warranty
      * 60% Heat and Glare Reduction
      * 99% U.V. Protection
      * 30% VLT Darkness
      * Colour - black

      Octane combines true performance with looks and style - a patented coloration process is used to create the darker than legal look - the result - the darkest looking film in the market that won't get you a ticket. A metalized film, Octane provides excellent heat and glare reduction, blocks out around 99% UV rays, and all with the ultimate in looks and privacy."

      I'm really happy with their service and the quality of the tint,professional and quick(under 2 hours) installation, after almost one year it still looks perfect, no bubbles whatsoever. If i'm not wrong this deal runs every second-third month but even if it's not advertised if you ask for a better price they usually do 100$ off.
      The rear glass film is not octane but a similar but darker type of film. The only negative about my tint installation is that the FM radio reception has decreased significantly as well as the range of the remote key operation.

    I hate offers with absolutely no information about the price. How does it help me to read "100 off" if i don't know off what amount.

    • +3

      Agreed, so if i get front windows only, approx 175.00 does that mean i pay only 75. Will check on this tomorrow and find out.

      • +2

        You'll have to contact them to get a quote, I'm under the impression that the cost will vary depending on the type of car you own. Unfortunately no prices are listed on their website…

          no of course not……. this is only $100 of there RRP… which they dont normally sell at anyway.. which most of the time you can get by just asking them for there best price……

    I had my car fully tinted by these guys in Wodonga 6 years ago.
    Tint is still in perfect condition and I would go to them again.
    I purchased my tint through a charity auction and got a good price, so not sure what full price would have been.

    The UV protection alone has been worth it (now living in QLD). borrowed a friends car for the day in the middle of summer 4 years ago and came back with sunburnt hands and forearms as they didn't have any tint on their windows.

    yeah, price varies as per size of the car.

      re: car windscreen UV protection

      Ordinary car or truck window glass filters out approximately 97% of UVB and 37% of UVA radiation. Laminated windscreens, which are made from a tough plastic layer bonded between two panes of glass, block all UVB and about 80% of UVA.
      http://www.cancercouncilnt.com.au/forms/Sunsmart/Information…

      • i haven't had the chance to measure the UVA/UVB radiation but my car feels cooler and the sun doesn't burn like before.Maybe it's just the reduced glare and heat but it definitely feels better

      • friends car was a 2006 nissan maxima. four hours of driving and my hands and forearms were lobster red. so, don't know what happened there.

        • Light coming in from the side window. The windscreen may block UV rays but the side windows probably don't.

        • the car was full of people and no one else got burnt. - something weird was happening.

      • Agreed.

        My "Transitions" glasses (UV-activated) don't dim when I'm inside the car.

  • I thought they always offered $100 off to make it sound like a good deal. I got a superb tint done in Brisbane by Solar Style for $300. I.e. $200 less than tint a car's regular price

  • Been thinking of getting my tint redone. It's bubbled, torn and rippled in a few areas. Anyone done a home job? Looks like more trouble than its worth.

    • I helped my father tint his car at home, stick-on plastic film method, many years ago. It worked, and the bubbles were easy enough to remove, but the one thing you will probably have trouble with is hairs and fibers. In the average garage, there is no way you can keep the glass absolutely clean while you apply the film, some hairs/fibers will be forever stuck between the film and the glass.

      Also, we only did the side windows, which are almost flat. I don't think you could do the front or rear windscreens, as they are (usually) curved in two dimensions.

    I got my car done for 395 2 years ago and it wasn't on special. $395 is the normal price. They just added the $100 off an increased price

    Done a home job on my tarago, was not easy had to pull off door trims etc, wouldn't do again. watching professionals doing it on youtube makes it look easy. bought the tint plus tools from http://myworld.ebay.com.au/protintingsupplies/&_trksid=p3984…

    Not really a deal. They seem to always offer "$100 off" at their shopping centre stands… $100 off what? No wonder their website doesn't list any prices

  • This is probably not comparing apples to apples, but the going rate for a window tint in Sydney is around $150-$190 at most little window tinters for any shade you want for most normal vehicles. (saying that, probably not the same quality installation at Tint-A-)Car

    I am booking in my car to do 1 window at a time, this way with $100 off per job I will get the whole car tinted for free! Awesome find OP.

      does that work?

    • +1

      that's so…Logical :D

    • good tip Baron Von Munchausen

  • I asked not long ago about a tint, they do a lighter one that blocks more UVA (looked pretty good anyway)
    -no good if you want GANGSTA style tho.

    Looks like a price you could get anywhere to be honest…cept from a stealership ;)

  • i got my Golf done in Jan for $305 - took our Jetta in July $305 … just call them and tell them how much you want to pay - even at $305, i still got ripped off at least $100….(and yes it was their octane product)

    the margins all tinters make on this rubbish are horrendously high.

  • +1

    if some one could recommend quality tinters that they have used then feel free to do so.

      CarX in Clayton, Vic is where I got mine done. I'm pretty sure it was less than $300.
      They did a good job.

  • Same as edmobile, rang up and booked the missus car in for tint earlier this year in WA. Was told $395 and I did not mention the $100 off deal that was running at the time. When we went to pay, I brought up the discount and the response was "oh we always factor whatever discount is going at the time into our prices already".

    • That's not unreasonable. If an organisation is offering a discount at the time, you shouldn't have to ask for it to receive it.

  • Gotta a number mate to call?
