Edit: Data recovery isn't something that you want to play around with, I haven't needed to do much research into it but from what I hear from colleges they mainly use Linux solutions.
If you're trying to recover data from a failing drive you could potentially be damaging the drive even more just by spinning it up or reading from it.
I tried out the trial. Its very simple and easy to use, but that wasn't all that impressive as it didn't find anything on the drive I tried. Though it seems to recover files if you do it straight away after deleting. Doesn't hold a candle to r-studio, but i still give it a + as its free and better than nothing.

Might give this a try, need to recover a HFS+ hdd from a MacBook with a fried motherboard. Hopefully can recover the folder structure, was going to look into read only HFS+ drivers for windows, but will see if I can get this.
