Dyson Motorhead Vacuum Cleaner DC23 $488 (Save $350) @ Masters

1150

I was browsing the clearance items for Bibra Lake Masters and noticed the motorhead DC23 for $488.00. I don't think the motorhead DC23 has ever been anywhere close to this price before. Appears to be nationwide clearance, be quick.

Next cheapest $779: http://www.getprice.com.au/Dyson-DC23-Motorhead-Vacuum.htm
Second hand on ebay listed for $450 (2 years old) and $500 (no age mentioned)
The non motorhead version on amazon.de is $621.38 ex shipping.

Edit: I checked the major postcodes (2000 / 3000 / 4000 etc) and its same price and in stock so likely nationwide.

    good deal thanks OP

    • Click and collect available in WA if you don't mind a drive.

      • Not anymore :(

Confirmed price, called Masters store in Nerang (QLD). But Mrs doesn't see difference between this vacuum and our $200 hand held one even though we have two dogs. :|

    • +22

You need to let her go

      • +9

Sure will, just waiting for a good divorce lawyer's deal in Ozbargain. :)

Good present for the female of the household.

  • +6

    Don't need one…must resist.

  • +10

Mrs has been complaining about our vacuum for a while now, but it still sucks fine so I couldn't see what the problem was.
I asked her if this was what she was after, and 30 seconds later I'm $488 poorer. Damn OzB…..

    • -1

Refund your wife but keep the vac? Saves money in the long run.

    $489.50 delivered from Amazon
    http://www.amazon.com/Dyson-DC23-TurbineHead-Canister-Vacuum…

Good price for local stock but its been this price overseas for a while.

    • +4

TurbineHead and Motorhead are different models.

    • +3

Turbine turns with the airflow, motorhead has actual motors there which assist you even more, specially to pick up fur from carpets.

      • +3

        $489.50 delivered from Amazon

Surely this would be 100-120v - not suitable for Australia.

  • $50 cash back from Amex too http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116940

    Great find OP.

  • +1

488 for a vac… does it include a weekly maid voucher?

  • +1

What a coincidence- today is the last day to use the $25 off voucher for people who signed up to this offer 3 months ago- http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108181

I'm still trying to resist buying this deal even though I can get another $25 off >.<

  • Got one. Thanks OP.

  • +2

All Vacuum cleaners suck… some just suck less than others… at $500 it's a big investment.

  • +1

I have a dyson and I love it. I was looking at this model but went for another one, as I just worry the small bits holding the "wand" will break and it will be troublesome to chuck to store it.

  • +10

Hi everyone, just a note that clearance stock is limited, so will vary from store to store! Cheers

    • well, now know it's not a pricing error ^_^

    • Is this also available online? Seems like its only a in-store deal

      • Tried ordering it online, got the following message "Sorry, the Product Dyson Dyson Motorhead Vacuum Cleaner DC23 you wished to order is currently unavailable online"

        • It's different from store to store. Try a few different stores with different postcodes and see which options are available

        • Tried changing to all stores in WA, can not order online.

  • done and done

  • This is a monster of a vacuum. Motorhead is very powerful but very noisy. Also very heavy (or so my wife tells me) so consider whether you need it or not.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • +1

I was surprised to see so many positive votes for a deal that sucks so much.

  • +5

Ozbargainers you guys need more witty comebacks.

Every deal about a vacuum cleaner, someone is bound to say "this deal sucks"

  • -1

We got a $950 Dyson for our engagement gift.
I can honestly say it's not worth it. No way
$200 max if i had to put a price on it?

Just being honest, If you're into brand name then get it. It may look fancy, but sadly :( that's about it.

    • +4

$950, perhaps not. But $500 easily if you want a clean house and value your time.
I have used plenty of vacuum cleaners, and nothing is more annoying than constantly having decreased suction either because the bag is full or because the "cheap" bagless vacuum needs 3 different filters to be cleaned after half an hour of usage. My Dyson saves me 20 minutes per vacuum and does a better job at it. Not to mention that vacuum cleaner bags cost a lot of money.

If you had $200 to spend on a vacuum, what would you get?

    • I agrees. Miles with bag is much better and no need to deal with dust and cleaning for maintenance.

  • +1

First time poster long time lurker. I registered to upvote. I was in need of new vacuum cleaner so this one hits the spot. Went down to Masters Hawthorn (Glen Iris?) and got the 2nd last one. I believe the last one there is a display model. Cheers OP!

  • Bought one for my partner for her birthday. Constantly complaining about our current one with the cat hair so this should do the trick. Thanks OP!

    • +10

Bought one for my partner for her birthday.

      Nice knowing you Aaron

  • Out of Stock

    • I was just at Masters Bibra Lake (to buy other stuff) and there was a few of the shelf.

  • Good find.

I got a DC19 a few years ago for $750+. Dyson machines work really well.

Noticed last year a DC39 for $579 at Costco. The new DC54 machines at David Jones are being retailed between $800-900.

  • Sorry, the Product Dyson Dyson Motorhead Vacuum Cleaner DC23 you wished to order is currently unavailable online

    ……seems to be too late

  • Thanks OP. Nerang is out of stock (display model only) Upper coomera has 5 left (at 8.00pm)
    THANKS

  • I have a similar model, great suction and smooth to use with the motorised head. Only gripes are tank fills up quickly (I have standard carpet) and brush on the head a bit awkward to clean. Also, the notch where you attach the tube after use could be better. Other than that it beats all the mainstream vacs i have used.

  • +1

I would like to buy this…
But I still have a perfectly functioning Dyson DC03.
13+ years old and dropped numerous times by my son
(as I taught him to clean up after himself)…
    And it still works wonderfully.

  • I will definitely be heading down to Masters first thing tomorrow and grab one! Thanks OP.

  • Just bought a display model at North Lakes. It looked new (had plastic on head etc), so I'm not too fussed. Also noticed another display model as I walked out too (it was not against the wall, but on a little display around the fridges).

This was at 9pm closing, so it will be there Friday morning if you are really keen. Might even be able to haggle the price down a few dollars ;)

  • Just picked mine up from the Ellenbrook store in WA. Awwww yeaaaaaaaah.

  • I think I took the last one in stock at Dandenong. Only the display left. Thanks OP.

  • now i'm just waiting for a decent deal for a lawn mower…

  • I just spent the last 40 minutes trying to get through to the Chullora store only to be told it's out of stock :(

    • The website still says in stock at Chullora

    • I tried this morning for Chullora, they only had a display model left with missing parts, I decided to give it a miss.

  • +1

buy with amex to get $50 credit back

    • You cant buy online? Its in store online??

  • Just called if your in VIC roxbury park and south morang MAY still have stock.

  • +2

god damn, placed an online order. got a call today saying no stock and getting a refund. BAH
and i read a comment on here that someone went in and picked one up fromt he store I chose. FUUUU i should've gone in

lol, everywhere I call knows im after the dyson. bah, not going to bother trying anymore

REP - if you see this, it's a bit dissapointing that an order can go through, money come out and not get a product

    • its happened to me before too

  • wide just travelled to Tingalpa which 'has stock' one display model, no warranty and no discount !

I rang central customer service, they don't have any left.

Why a company like this can't link stock to their website is beyond me.

    Deal over guys

    • display model :(

  • The Masters Canberra store has one with 3 small parts missing (not sure which ones) and its a display model, they still want $488 for it.

  • Think its time to get a Shark Rotator since I cant get this one

  • Does anyone know if this specific model of Dyson is a good one? i.e. If there was another model Dyson with similar features and the same price to this one would you still pick this one? I have been thinking of getting a Dyson for a while but i heard the bagless ones weren't as good? I don't know much about them so would be interested to hear your opinions

    • All recent Dyson's are bagless. At this price no other Dyson will come close, in any case your going to be lucky to find one in Melbourne now.

      • Thanks for that. I haven't had a bagless one before as i was talked out of getting one last time i purchased a vaccuum cleaner. Would you recommend a Dyson bagless? I remember the sales person talked me out of it as they said the filter gets too dirty in a bagless and it needs cleaning all the time compared to ones with bags where you can just empty the bag. This was at Godfrey's though who don't sell Dyson so im wondering if they were trying to put me off as they don't sell them…would you recommend getting a bagless one?

        • I've got this exact model of Dyson and I have never had to clean the filters, don't know how long I've had it but I'd guess around 9 months to a year.

It's picked up animal hair really well when I've looked after the parents dog (who drops hair every time she's touched), the only downside to this particular vacuum is the weight but that's partially my fault. With my last vacuum I got stuck in a habit of carrying the vacuum as I used it everywhere, fine for me but my wife had to adapt to pulling the unit on the floor. I can't break the habit but my wife figured out a way of breaking the habit by not using it anymore.

I'd say the Salesmen you spoke to suckered you, all high end bag less vacuums are good and don't require constant cleaning but he doesn't sell them so he doesn't want to say thay they are good.

So if your fine with a heavy vacuum or pulling it along then this is a great unit, if I had my time again I would still buy it (and I paid over $800 for this).

-edit- Dyson recommend cleaning the filters every 3-6 months, they have instructional videos on the website.

          http://www.dyson.co.uk/Support/DC23/DC23-Motorhead/My-machin…

        • Thanks alot for that! it does sound good i think i will consider getting a bagless next time!

Ordered and paid for online from Rutherford NSW store this morning. Just got an email saying unable to supply and they are going to refund. Not happy. I should get a refund plus 10% for the cost of my time that's been wasted.

    • same thing happened to me
I used my $25 voucher on the purchase.

      that's gone now =)

Funny watching the progress of these kinda clearance posts… First disbelief:

Considering your getprice link shows Masters price is $888, I wonder.

Then elevation to get one at this price:

First time poster long time lurker. I registered to upvote. I was in need of new vacuum cleaner so this one hits the spot. Went down to Masters Hawthorn (Glen Iris?) and got the 2nd last one. I believe the last one there is a display model. Cheers OP!

    Some optimism..

I will definitely be heading down to Masters first thing tomorrow and grab one! Thanks OP.

    Then bitter disappointment..

wide just travelled to Tingalpa which 'has stock' one display model, no warranty and no discount !

I just spent the last 40 minutes trying to get through to the Chullora store only to be told it's out of stock :(

Hope that those that got one get good use out of it, if your in Perth feel free to come show off your purchase and vacuum my place. I didn't buy one myself, my house is small and has hardwood floors so Im happy enough with the DC35 I already have.

  • anyone tried places to price match?
    thegoodguys, harvey norman etc

    • It's clearly labeled as a clearance, they won't come close to it.

  • +1

Got the "sorry ran out of stock, we will refund" call but I was persistent. Masters ended up tracking down one for me. Ended up a fantastic experience and they're now on my radar when I'm looking for home improvement items (which is an awful lot) and won't blindly go to Bunnings any more.

Kudos to Masters North Lakes and their friendly staff.

  • +1

I got a price match Saturday afternoon I asked thinking id get told no way but rhe friendly girl smiled and said yes!

    Owner of a new dyson!

    • May I ask you where did you get your price matched?
Add: can you upload a receipt if possible? I'm after a new vacuum.

  • For everyone that didn't get one, maybe this deal will do it for you.

    http://shopping.scoopon.com.au/event/28070?utm_source=SCPS&u…

Dyson DC26 HEPA Barrel Vac W/ Carbon Fibre Turbine Head $429.00

    • http://www.catchoftheday.com.au/event/28070 catch is doing the same thing

      • Catch of the day and Scoopon are one in the same, that's why they offer the exact same deals from time to time.

    • It is a decent deal,
The masters one was better having the motorhead which adds a lot of value over the turbine head

  • This offer is not showing as available in Mount Gambier.

  • Does anyone know how the DC23 with a motorhead compares to the newest Dyson DC54 Animal or DC54 Allergy model? Apparently the DC54 range has a new Cinetic Cyclone technology with a carbon fibre turbine head and this range has replaced the DC23. Comparing these two models, not taking price into consideration, which one is a better vaccuum cleaner do you think?

    • I would thing the motorhead would be better having a seperate motor for the spinning things and not relying on air pressure.
