  • My understanding is Amazon will not ship consoles to Aus.
Mates US and UK pre-orders were canceled with reason given that Consoles can not be sold outside county site is based in.

in the amazon terms and conditions it states:
I checked US and UK sites … both had same statments:

Amazon.com gladly ships orders around the globe with AmazonGlobal. Available product lines, shipping rates and fees vary depending on the delivery address for your order.

The majority of items in Amazon's product catalog (automotive, baby, clothing, consumer electronics, health and personal care, home and garden, industrial and scientific, jewelry, pet supplies, shoes, software, sporting goods, tools, toys, video games excluding consoles, and watches) can be shipped to the following countries:

The shipping history with European Amazons and consoles makes this deal pretty reliable, although I myself also had a day 1 PS4 amazon.us order which was cancelled.

  • 499 Eur as per xe.com works out to me $717.828 Aussie.

You need to remove the VAT.

    • Thanks mate, how do i do that?
The site is in another language.
      Sorry i'm an Amazon noob.

      • I am using Chrome browser and it has the function to translate German to English.

      • Go to the final order summary page and it will show the final price without vat

  • looks good. but there is no lock in AUD$ price unless you choose amazon AUD$ conversion.

    • you can buy the gift card now, and apply the balance now to lock in the price.
anyway it is preorder, amazon only charge you when they ship.

Is the saving so large that it warrants the risk?

There is bound to be hiccups with brand new next gen consoles in the volumes produced that the ps4 will be, what happens if your console decides to die without any local support?

I know that this is the same with all grey import tech but I've had more problems with consoles than any other electronics.

    • this is grey import?

we are preordering / purchasing from Amazon. i have bigger faith on them then ANY australian retailers. if they die, just contact amazon and send it back. what kind of local support r u after??

however, i do think this price is not THAT good. i wont buy the first batch of these game consoles, either.

      • It's importing a product to avoid local prices and taxes without international warranty. So yes importing electronics including games consoles is grey importing, not illegal at all but it has risks like I have mentioned with the warranty and then there's the risk of dealing with an overseas buisness that may not deal with the same laws that Australia has about goods and services. The later not really being an issue when your dealing with amazon.

What local support am I after?
If I bought the console locally for slightly more and it failed within an hour (highly unlikely) then I would take it straight back to the store and get a refund or an exchange, if the same happens with Amazon then I'm not entirely sure how their warrantys work but I assume I have to send it back to them at my expense and wait weeks or months to get either an exchange/repair/refund.

ahh so the rumors are true sort of… while back it was stated the they would bundle in this arrangement for the price of a XBOX1. hope we get some deals like this down under

  • Could have sworn this has been posted on Ozb before. I pre-ordered this exact bundle from Amazon.de about 3 weeks ago.

  • My Amazon US pre-order was cancelled. I'm hoping this one isn't.

I'll be looking forward to seeing the price of this bundle locally too.

    • $699 from DickSmith.
