  • Iphone 5c is the fastest price dropping product in apple's history.

The Note 3's are region SIM locked, clove UK have already had to refund Australian customers, Asia sourced notes also won't work here.

    • Yep, apparently they will work as a regular unlocked phone elsewhere , but only after first sim used is from the corresponding region to which they have been initially shipped.
Kogan, and all the grey importers accustomed to the sourcing cheap stock originally destined for a variety of different places (my Note from Kogan was intended for France), will not be happy. Neither am I - unless a remedy comes along.

Samsung HQ may end up relenting if they perceive a significant impact on sales volume is taking place, but Samsung have clearly been under alot of pressure from local distributors in various countries.
The Notes, especially, have been bought in very large numbers - by way of ze grey.

    • I thought the restriction only applied for Note 3's sourced from EUR/US?

UPDATE: Mobicity have confirmed that Singapore stock of the 32GB model N9005 do not have a sticker and have been tested as functioning fine with Australian sims. It appears the regional restrictions may apply to stock from the Americas and Europe only.

      • I read that too, but it seems odd that sim region-locking wouldn't ultimately be worldwide - IF the primary intent is to reduce sales lost to local distributors.

Regardless , if the channels for sourcing grey-market stock are in any way narrowed - for whatever reason - price competition will be reduced, and we will likely pay more.

  • OP: The version from Unique Mobiles is the HK based 16GB version for $799 - the AU version is 32GB or 64GB.

  • Why are there always deals for just about every high-end Android phone bar the HTC One!?

    • Hard to beat the HN deal for HTC one ATM

      I do not agree.

      $930 including delivery to Sydney.

      Unknown overseas model.

      Region locking.

No local Samsung two year warranty.

Might be better to wait for deals on local AU models.

  • Sorry kshitijdesai

No reflection on you. This is not a bargain.

SAMSUNG - No local two year warranty from Samsung Australia. Possibility of being region locked.

Apple - No local warranty (of up to two years), no out of warranty support for even longer.

    EDIT
Also their website sales page is deceptive, as are their staff.
It says "Warranty 12 Months Manufacturer"

When I called to check what this means I was told that I can take the phones into any Australian Apple store for warranty. This is not correct.

And, some sort of 'region locking'.

  • Regarding iPhones from Unique Mobiles, and other Overseas Suppliers/Shippers, and iPhones in general.

    Starting September 27th (USA date?).

Some models of some types of iPhone (iP5 A1428/A1429 confirmed so far - no idea about iP5c iP5s) will gain warranty coverage or repair/replacement under a new "Apple International Service Strategy" in some countries/markets other that the one in which it was originally purchased.

This may also mean that our AU purchased iPhones can be covered under Apple Warranty when we are traveling in China/USA/Europe etc.
