  • website absolutely sucks but seems an alright price, I paid $90 for mine done a few months back

  • 50 is the going price for 1.51 flash pretty much everywhere.

I got mine for $45 with unlimited upgrades to newer firmware :P

    • i.e. Not a bargain

  • +1

For people in South Australia, xpunked.com.au (i think thats the name) they do the same service.

    • +4

      Pirating isn't a bargain.

  • I cant believe people actually pay people to have this done for them!!!

You can work it out quite easily through a few google searches (im sure thats how Mr Back-ups learnt it)

    Absolute negative, no questions asked.

    • +1

the firmware/modding of the console is different to pirating games that Mr Backups is doing. I was struggling reading for days and days learning how to read my key off my drive (Lite-On) and it was really hard and I needed expensive equipment to do so. Instead I just paid someone 90 bucks to do it all for me within 30 minutes.

mod - warning Quantocks has associations with this business despite failing to make an identification

      • Quantocks, failure to declare your association with the business when making quotes, especially a quote like that, is unacceptable.

    • +1

      are you fucking kidding?

That's like saying 'this 10c pie bargain isn't a bargain. Just learn to make your own pies!!!!'

You're paying for a service. It's cheaper if your time is worth very little and you have the patience to research and research and research

  • Doesn't this void the warranty AND get you banned from xbox live?

    • +2

voids warranty but you don't get banned.

  • -1

no you can still play on xbox live with a modded console

    • for how long? .
I know a few people who's xbox's have been banned from live after modding .
No mod shop will guarantee that your xbox will not be banned from live and if they do , Don't expect them to be there when you need them again .

      • the only way you get banned is if you play pre-release pirate games that haven't came out in stores yet.

or if the game isn't stealth. which isn't a problem anyway these days :)

      • those people my friend, r noobs :P

If you stealth patch the games properly you won't get banned. Trust me wink

  • Is this legal to even begin with?

    • +2

      mods are legal in Australia.

      • In some cases, but not this one, see my comment below.

  • Hi guys, thanks for the great response and a lot of emails!

    to add to this:

if you are not in Sydney, I can still do your console, post it to me and I will mod and post it back the same day. Just make sure it's registered post.

    email me for more details.

  • +2

O ffs, Talk bout send in the noobs!

    The facts:

    • iExtreme is considered to be stealth, AT THE MOMENT, this can CHANGE at any time.
    • Warranty is only voided if the warranty sticker is damaged, if this guy is even half way decent he should be able to do this.
    • Finally THIS IS ILLEGAL. For two reason:
      • Modding in Australia is only legal IF it allows the playing of games that would otherwise be blocked by region coding, this hack DOE NOT do this.
      • The firmware that has been modified, is copyright to MS, changing it, redistributing it ILLEGAL.
    • Getting this done by someone other than yourself IS STUPID. I don't mean because "its easy", but because every time a new firmware update comes out (the last one being mandatory to play new games), you would have to repay the guy to update it, costing more and more.
    • -4

incorrect. besides the fact that there is no E in iXtreme, If it allows backups to be played = legal!

The court ruled that because the modchips merely allow users to play copied or imported games, and do not enable the copying of games, modchips do not breach copyright. "There is no copyright reason why the purchaser should not be entitled to copy the CD-ROM and modify the console in such a way as to enjoy his or her lawfully acquired property without inhibition," said the court. "This is a hell of a victory for the consumer. That's why we did it," said Mr. Stevens.

go off back to Whirlpool cry baby :)

Did Paintold just get told? lol!

also the guy that modded my 360 has lifetime upgrades for free!

        • -4

sure did. know it all obviously knows nothing, mods are 100% legal in Australia. Backups of your original games are LEGAL.

      • -1

That is in reference to ModChips. This is not a ModChip, this is a hacked firmware that has copyright and EULA, editing, reverse engineering it and redistributing it (and especially charging for it) IS ILLEGAL and no different to selling copyright games or any other piece of software. That is why the firmware is never hosted on public servers, rather xbins and torrents.

"go off back to Whirlpool cry baby :)"
Have we crossed paths there have we…

        • -3

it's not hosted anywhere because the OFW has been created with XDK. I don't go on WP because of know-it-alls like you, that know little to bugger all in the big picture.

It's about as illegal as flashing my Pioneer DVD player with another firmware!

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA XDK is for the development of GAME software, has NOTHING to do with the various drive firmwares. You are thinking of homebrew for the original xbox. Either way, the firmware is still copyright and modifying it and distributing is illegal. Get it through your head.

            • @PainToad: Download: IXtreme 1.51 n/a (built with XDK)

              learn to read.

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Seriously mate, if you are referring to the link on xbox-scene, that is a generic link applied to anything that xbox-scene can't host for legal reasons. If you are getting all your info from that noob breading grounds, that explains everything.

If you would like to make a bigger fool of yourself, explain to me how a xbox1 software compiler would have anything to do with the firmware of, what is a generic DVD drive.

Either way mate, you have admitted to be being wrong, either the firmware is reversed engined from a dump of each of the drives (which is what happens), which is illegal, and redistributing even more so or they use XDX as you reckon (which is a load of crock) which is also illegal.

"That's what makes the software you want to download 'illegal' (not in our eyes - as the software itself has completely been written by the programmer - but in the eyes of the law it is illegal)" That's quoting your very own source, "Xbox-Scene". Stop embarrassing yourself.

                • @PainToad: it's direct from xbins, the source you were oh so happy to spout about earlier on.

                  • +1

@[Deactivated]: And yet again you offer no explaination, just ignoring my points you are too ignorant to understand.Jump on the offical iXtreme irc channel and ask there buddy, if you even know where it is. Once again you can't admit you are wrong, even when you are arguing its built xdx which is 100percent illegal. Either way you are in a corner.

                    • -1

@PainToad: The hacked firmware = original firmware disassembled -> modified and custom code written in assembly -> compiled back into machine code aka firmware.bin

Modifying and reusing the original copyright firmware code is ILLEGAL. Hence why it isn't available for public download. Some of the original xbox mod chips came with an open source linux firmware (which couldn't play xbox games) but made it easy to upgrade to an "illegal" bios. Legally, they could be sold because the open source bios had no microsoft code.

BTW, PainToad was correct in saying that it wasn't written with the XDK. The XDK was used for writing homebrew apps for xbox1. X-scene just put that (built with XDK) with everything that is not-for-download-on-site-but-get-it-on-xbins

      • Actually, I think PainToad is right. There was a ruleing by the high court that mod chips were legal only. However, an ammendment of the Copyrights Act was passed. This made all modchips that circumvented REGION LOCKS legal, but all other modchips illegal.

Therefore, a modchip for wii would be legal if it cirumvented region locks.

Btw, are xbox 360s region free? I thought they were.

        • +1

Thank you jigglycho. The 360 is not region free for all games, and this hack does nothing to change that. If a game is region-locked, it will still be.

        • +2

XBOX 360 isn't region free, though you can find quite alot of games that are region free, but a majority or Japanese and US games are region locked. There are currently no modchips or "upgrades" which make it region free also.

          This is why I don't have a 360 and will get a PS3 instead.

          • @Reiji Arisu: If your intent is to save money, why on earth would you get a PS3? Yes games might be cheaper, but let's admit it. If you're out to game, but still save money then you're going to get your shit chipped.

  • -1

Illegal, voids warranty, Detectable by future dashboard upgrades, also leave no easy method of creating backups (requires a special DVD rom drive in addition)

    • -4

0800 makes it easy to dump/backup your own original games. learn2xbawkz!

  • +2

An illegal mod is not going to make it to the front page.

    • Agreed plus that website is just so….. unprofessional.

Just drop your console to my house and I'll call you as soon as it's done to come and pick it up or if you're local I can drop it off if it's more convenient.

      Are you serious?

    • I agree with the illegal comments.

This site is for bargains, not for playing free games.

  • +3

crap price you can do this by yourself for about $20 just by following a simple step by step guide found everywhere over the net.

  • in any case, I got my xbox done awhile back. I'm going to bed and not really concerned whether you want to debate if you feel this is a good or bad deal!

I paid 90 bucks to get mine done, would I do it again? hell yeah, scratched the crap out of my guitar hero disc and had a backup to save me!

  • Where is a good place to be done in Brisbane?

  • Not appropriate here.

  • -3

regardless of OP I'll do it for anyone in Sydney for $40, just get in contact with me!

quantocks AT gmail DOT com ;)

    (sorry OP) ;P

  • North Rocks mods does it for $40.

Do a good job too - have had both my 360's done there
