  • Hi all,

quick one, do these prepaid sims have 4G compatible???

    Thanks!

    • yes. i am using it.

    • Hi
Sims for 3G and 4g(LTE) are the same. If your device supports 4G it will connect to the 4G tower.
Note- I am 99% sure but may not be correct

    • +1

sweet non Ipad $30 sims for all that prepaid Google play goodness yay 66% discount!

      • It says: Telstra 3GB prepaid iPad Micro Sim or 3GB prepaid Nano Sim.

Could you clarify on that? I'm also looking to buy the non-ipad sims for use on telstra prepaid.

EDIT: I see the green one on the right says it's for mobile. However, i remember the last time this happened at TheGoodGuys, they had a incorrect picture, and lots of people bought an ipad sim thinking they were getting the prepaid mobile one.

      • It's better than that if you use the call credits as well. Unless you can find a telco that will give free calls.

      • Telstra "Bill my Telstra account" option has not been working since last weekend.

        Don't have high hopes

  • Do the Ipad sims have an expiry date printed on them?
I missed out on the auspost deal awhile back :(

    • yes always - usually about 2yrs away :)

  • +4

    any link to buy online?

    • don't think that will ever work. Everytime I bought a SIM, they require your ID and they record everything down, because it's a govermnent requirement or something. Makes it painful to have your info recorded multiple times at the shop.

      • +1

fyi was previously available online direct and via ebay :)

Re: eBay - they contacted me and had me go to their actual shop to collect… and go through that whole process of recording my info…

Re: Online - they contacted me as well, and told me I had to go to their actual shop to collect - in BENDIGO! So I cancelled the order.

  • Does this come with data & can it be used with tethering?

    • These come with 3 Gb data and yeah you can use for wifi hotspot. The Ipad sims will work in android phones, well I haven't encountered any problems. Cheap way to get good data allowance on the best 4g network. Also the only way for anyone living in most regional areas. :-D

  • Search brings up nothing on their website

  • I've just bought the new Nexus 7 with LTE which takes a Micro SIM.

I was looking at getting the 12 month 12GB for $180 plan from Telstra for that. As an alternative, can I buy 12 of these and activate 1 each month? Would Telstra or TGG care about this?

    • +2

You can activate 1 SIM each month without a problem. It's unlikely they will sell you 12 at once. I was told max 5 at a time but I can't see that in the T&Cs. I have checked with my 2 local stores and one had 2 and the other had 3, but they can order them in for you.

      • Do the cards expire, or do you end up with piles of cards registered in your name?

        • +2

I think they expire after 6 months if you don't recharge. I ring up every couple of months and get them to physically cancel the service so I don't have a heap of numbers listed on my account.

      • They say 5 max because of the AMTA form which is supposed to be filled in with the purchase of a prepaid SIM card. If you have 5 or less prepaid services (including the ones you are purchasing) you are required to provide less ID.

  • can this be use for a mobile phone? I seeing many of you getting it for ipad/nexus7……

    • Yeah works fine in mobile

  • Tried price matching @ bigw & got refused as they need to sight a printed catalogue due to "store policy", while nowhere on bigw website stating so.
Is it becoming standard that price matches require actual catalogues? :/

    • Try OW

    • I pricematched 8 of them at BigW on Saturday for $10 (matched against the Aus Post website)

    • Get catalogue from store if you can or try some place better.

    • Thanks guys, might try OW tonight and see what happens

      • you'll need to go in store, they wouldn't sell it to me over the phone. D:

  • Now comes the magical journey of finding a GG who has them in stock~

  • +2

Deal has been removed from online catalog… http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/ContentDisplayView?e…

    • +3

OW matched off the OP's lasoo link, FYI.

Just purchased the only five from GG in Moorabbin. Happily going about purchase until a nosy worker piped up about one per person. He could not find the T&C's so basically asked him did they want the sale or not!
Eventually made the purchase but need more….
Oh expiry date is June 2015 so no need to ring up to extend… Pity I just spent $180 on the standard Telstra recharge :(

    • He was only saying it because he was gonna buy them but you got there first haha

  • how come this item is not available online???

  • Fingers crossed JB might match this deal soon. The Good Guys and Australia Post make this so difficult.

    • Has JB ever matched this deal?

      • I got JB in midland WA to match TGG last time they had a sale

        • +1

The cool thing with jbs in midland, is there is an officeworks right next to them as well.

    • Thank you TGG; did my due diligence and got two matched from jb.

  • Awesome, how much is $30 in internet credit anyone?

    • It's [0.4+0.7] gB, about 20% what you'd get from other operators. unless you pickup the white packet(3 gb). Of prime use for 2%(coverage monopoly) /Google store CR.

  • No stock in Penrith guys. What a waste of time!

    • Get them to place an order for you

  • So good! Last time I bought these at big w it took the staff ages to process my drivers licence. This time at tgg they didn't even ask for my id! This was at Mt Gravatt in bne.
edit: there were about five ipad sims on the shelf, and maybe about three nano sims.

  • Only a couple of nano sims at Auburn, but you can order them.

  • I pricedmatch a micro sim starter kit at OW. Does anyone know if they also come with 3GB data? Thanks

    • +1

You should be able to activate the sim as whatever you like. If the online activation process defaults to just a regular prepaid and doesn't give you the option for doing it as a data sim, go into a telstra store, or livechat.telstra.com.

    • do you get an extra 5% when pricematching with OW?

      • I just price matched at Officeworks Malaga (WA). I didn't ask for the 5%. I was happy to get the $10 price with the convenience of being closer and actually open in the evenings.

I had no problems getting 2 (which was all they had).

        • what did you do to get the pricematch? did you show them the catalog?

        • I showed them the catalogue at OW and there were no issues at all. $9.50 per starter kit and no paper work to complete.

        • I took in a TGG catalogue. She barely looked at it. Presumably she knew about the offer.

  • Can this be used on Telstra usb 3g wifi modem bought from Coles a few weeks ago by using a micro to standard sim adapter?

    • Yes it's what I'm using now. Guys also, does anyone know, if you activate it with the 3gb you don't get the $30 credit, is that right? Or do you get both?

      • Mine activated as 3GB with $0 credit. The only choice I had with the iPad plan (Micro SIM) was 3GB.

  • Free at Perth Royal Show for those in WA.

    • how do u get it?

    • Wow. Negged for saying something is free?

You just had to visit the Telstra tent.

  • Does anyone know if you use the "Ipad 3GB data" on an android phone whether you still get the full 3GB?

I have an IPAD 2 not jailbroken so I can't tether from the Ipad. I want to use the 3GB via the hotspot on my S3 so that my laptop can use the 3GB. I've heard when you the plan on a non-ipad, they detect the IMEI and give you only 1GB of data??

    Thanks!

    • I've got the iPad Micro SIM in my Nexus 7 and I've got 3GB of data (so far at leat).

I read the T&C's last night (sad hey?) and they say that it is only for the iPad and they CAN change your data if you use it in something that's not an iPad.

      • I have noticed by using Vodafone wifi modem which has been unlocked that what Telstra charged me at the end of a day as shown on Telstra My Account page is more than what is shown on my wifi modem.

Therefore, I suspect I do not get 3GB if I use a non-ipad device to access internet.

Anyone has similar experience to share?

  • Seemingly of pattern < half of the [Coles] were allocated flybuys#sim=[$7] last month, while yet this #TGG special look to be preferencing 'adaptors' again…
    Ugh/

I am glad they've kept the Longlife>simplicity door open though, for the Telstra #emerald Starter packs. It's of the poignant reasons I'm apt to contemplate Dualsim Unlocked \ Chinaphones next.. hopeful to subdue this mucking about. 12months access via X2($19)

  • Scored two via pricematch at Harvey Norman QV in Melbourne. They would only sell 1 per person, but I had a friend with me who I was buying for. Cough Cough

They still had about 5 left if anyone was interested!

  • OW in Elizabeth run out of stock! Do jb or dicksmith match this price???

    • try big w - they've always price matched for me :)

  • Target, Dick smith and Fremantle perth OW won't price match, O'Connor TGG out of stock :( So unlucky!

  • For those who can't get a price match or TGG out of stock, Target will be selling the Telstra Multifit Sim Starter Kit for $15 (1/2 price) from 3-9th Oct

  • Has anyone asked TGG why this deal is not online? On the picture above (and also in my printed catalogue from my letterbox), it clearly states online and in-store. Clearly, it's not available online.

Was it some kind of error in the catalogue?

    • +1

In my local TGG store it had printed apology sign up saying was advertised as available to purchase on line in error.

  • I've still got like 3 or 4 micro sins packs left from the last time that TGG had this deal. I'm on my third micro sim for the iPad and when I was activating it last night there was an issue and I need to contact Telstra 24x7chat or a store. I'll do that later. Anyway, has anyone else been going month to month on these sims for the 3GB and did you use the same email or a different email each time you activate?

    • same email :)

  • I couldn't find the deal on TGG website.

I went instore and it was in the catalogue but not advertised on the shelf. They were out of stock so I ordered one for later.

I live in Nunawading, Vic 3131 and visited some local stores for price matching:
    Harvey Norman: Yes
    Officeworks: Yes
    JB x2: No
    DSE x2: No
