I did the same thing with the previous deal back in July - it arrived at the same time, but as two different packages.

        • How long is the shelf life or what is the expiry date on the box?

        • +1

The ones I bought in the previous deal expire some time in 2018

        • Hope so because I brought from another online store and the shelf life was on June 2014.

  • good deal, but not as cheap as daysoft though
    £4.99/box of 32 lenses +£0.50 /box delivery

  • people been saying the free one that they sent might not be the one you picked. And if you complain, they will just say bad luck.

    • I've had no problem with my past two orders thankfully!

    • They're still bound by law to provide what they said they would.

  • Got 2 boxes of Acuvue Moist 1-Day for Astigamtism for $45 delivered. Thanks :)

  • 2 boxes of acuvue astig fortnightlys! Thanks OP

Guess who I bumped in to at SpecSavers…………………..Everyone

  • I have Astigamtism and I've never worn contacts before, I'm seeing conflicting information on the web about whether you need a prescription that is specific to contact lenses. Do any of you who use them regularly have different prescriptions or is this just another Optometrist scam?

    • toric lenses are for those with astigmatism :)

    • I also have Astigamtism and my prescription is about 0.25 less than my glasses.
But go through an optometrist for the first time as they can usually get you free trials of different types.
I wear Biofinity torics and love them - mostly cause I can put them in and not touch them for a month.
cause I'm a tight-ass i can usually stretch them to 2 or three months :P

      • Yeah same with the Biofinity torics. Good for a few months each lol.

    • If you go with an optomertrist for your first time, they will give you all the info you need really. I went to Specsavers and they were pretty helpful.

They show you how to put them in, then they will give you a few different brands to take home and try. Then they give you your prescription and you can either order in store or on the Specsavers website (which is what I do, and it is really easy). You could also use the prescription on any other contact lens site I guess, although I haven't tried before as Specsavers are generally pretty cheap anyway.

    • You do and you don't, technically you should have a prescription to order any contacts lens but who's stopping you from just getting a pair from some online retailer?

Glasses have a different prescription to contacts though, so if you wanted to get a pair definitely go to your local opto and get the consult & test.

  • Thanks OP!! Just finished my last set and was waiting for another deal so I could order some more. I'm tempted to buy extra at this price.

  • Good time to try out the Air Optix Night & Day ones. Normally im a fortnightly Acuvue Oasys wearer or Colorblends. I accidentally sleep in mine so often I figure this is the next step. Anyone use these regularly have some feedback?

  • I have always gone to OPSM to get my contact lenses and used my private healthcare cover to subsidise my costs.

This is done automatically when I process my payment through OPSM and I have never had to make a physical claim (I am with Health.com.au).

Does anyone know if I an make a post payment claim if I purchase my contact lenses via SpecSavers? If so, then this is a worthwhile deal, if not, then it is 'cheaper' for me to pay the more expensive price at OPSM and get my claim back (as this is the only thing I claim for eyecare each year).

As an FYI, the shipping cost for my single packet of "Acuvue Oasys from Johnson & Johnson" is $10 to deliver to Melbourne CBD location in case someone was wondering.

    Regards
    Daniel

Yes you can claim after you order and pay. Many don't remember but that is what everyone had to do before there were HICAPS machines! Specsavers will email you an invoice and you take that to your health fund (some may allow to process online as well) and they will reimburse you directly.

However, you will be unable to claim the shipping cost against your health fund (so you can't claim the $10 in this offer).

      • Thanks. Very useful information.

    • These are literally $10, why would you need to claim it under private health?

      • I wouldn't be an OzBargainer if I didnt claim a further 60% off the cost of these contact lenses using my Private health insurance.

Also, the contact lenses I plan to get work out to be $18.50 per pack (if I use the $50 off option and get four packs). This cost is actually more them what I pay at OPSM with the rebate (about $60).

        Regards
        Daniel

      • actually they are $0. Shipping doesnt count.

  • Is it expired? The link is only taking me to the other deal they have, not the only-pay-$10-shipping one. What was the code to enter for it?

    • +1

Use the code "WELCOME" with a one box buy in checkout :)

      • thanks heaps!!!

      • Useful as I have one set of contacts that is a bit out as the left eye lenses seemed to be lost, or self damaged over the years more then my right (different scripts). This will help push the balance the other way. :-)

  • What i don't get is if we keep buying one box at a time and use the WELCOME code . If we say buy the 3 month pack does that mean we can buy a unlimited amount of lenses? As long as we buy one box each time?
$20 for 3 months worth of Acuvue fortnightly's is not a bad deal at all.
