Went to a phone shop in Bankstown Centro (a Vodafone select dealer kiosk, near Woolworth and BigW) and saw they advertise Nokia E71 for $499, asked a few questions, then got the phone for $480.
Thought it is a good deal, don't think they make this offer online, but if you go store and ask for that price, I think they would do it as well.
um..it's got a vodafone logo on the bottom of the phone.
but it's not software locked. it's open to all network

That's if you sign up through Virgin. Any dealers keen to do business know how to get you an E71 on the Virgin $29 cap with $0 upfront or monthly payment.
Hmmmmm….. What you said was too good to be true. But I tried anyway, tried to get a E71 on the Virgin $29 cap and the guy was trying not to laugh at me.
Mind if I ask if you've done this yourself? ie. Getting E71 instead of the advertised E69 on a $29 cap with any network? I tried on 3-Mobile, Allphones (this is for a Virgin contract and/or Optus) and for the heck of it, in a Telstra mobile shop.
All got rejected.

try a place at Parramatta called "wireless" its near a myer exit and maccas. i bought my e71 from there 5 months ago for $550. its definately cheaper now. its also unbranded and unlocked. make sure u ask for it, because they will just give u a vodafone branded 1.

Was the phone branded with Vodafone, either physically (ie Vodafone logos) or software-wise (ie custom links to Vodafone Live and Vodafone services)? I've noticed that Vodafone stock of various phones tend to cost less than non-Vodafone stock.
