For $50 more, it's definitely more worthwhile to get the Nexus 4 instead (albeit it only has 8GB non-expandable storage), but if you're on a tight budget for a budget phone from an established brand, the L7 II isn't bad~

  • Optus Prepaid Optimus L7 ($159) looks like normal everyday price, as same price in Harvey Norman http://www.harveynorman.com.au/optus-lg-optimus-l7-pre-paid-… and Optus Prepaid https://www.optus.com.au/shop/prepaidmobile/lg/optimusl7.

Don't bother with the L7. From personal experience even for day to day basics (eg checking email, even opening the SMS app) it was pretty slow. Performance is sluggish and that 512mb ram leaves you with about 80mb free with no apps open. On the plus side, it is thin and light with good battery life. Like many phones that say "microSD up to 32GB" a 64GB will work too.

The Optus branded version can have most of the Optus icons/apps easily removed (they're just web links).

It can be updated to 4.1.2, but imho it's a bad idea. No improvement to performance (maybe even worse) and installs additional bloatware/crap.

  • Is this "Optimus L7 II" dual SIM supported?

    • Optimus L7 || is dual sim but as mentioned by CyberGenesys, the performance is sluggish.

    • +1

No, this is just the L7 II instead if the L7 II Dual.

  • What is the comparable Samsung model for these phones?

    • +1

May be GALAXY S1 or S2.

      • +3

Galaxy S2 is a much better phone than L7 or L7 II

      • Galaxy S1 is similar and older, although I suspect the Galaxy S1 is still the better phone. The GS2 is like a Ferrari in comparison to the LG L7 (Toyota). I have a GS2 as well.
