East is having it's grand opening tomorrow.

East is a new cafe in East Perth at 4/447 Hay St. About 5 minutes walk from the CBD, and two streets parallel to Royal Perth Hospital.
We will serve your favourite cafe breakfasts (e.g. oats, bacon & eggs, pancakes, eggs benedict etc) and then transition into a Vietnamese restaurant for lunch dishing out greats such as delicious pho, spring rolls, and Vietnamese crepes. All this while pumping out some great barista-made coffee and Vietnamese coffee.

Grand opening special: $2.5 coffees all day (flat white, cappuccino, latte) and $7 pho.

More specials to come.

        I might order a Shepherd's pho then…

The equivalent of the Aussie Meat Pie?

  • $7 pho — authentic? heard from my Vietnamese friend a real pho will blow u away……. only in Vietnam
just wonder how hard to copy the recipe and cook it the same way?

Yeah in Vietnam you will get nice pho, but expect heaps of msg and god knows what they put in there or how clean it is. I've been there, and spent my 2 weeks holiday on the toilet. $7 bucks is a good price I guess, I usually pay 10-12 dollars for mine at my local Vietnamese restaurants.

      • In Asia. eat the local yoghurt every day or drink those little milk/yoghurt drinks. They give you the proper bugs to protect you. I have only gotten tummy disturbances when I violated this ritual.

Good luck in your venture. I like the concept.

I'll swing by tomorrow to check it out. Best of luck with the business.

  • Going with a bunch of friends after uni tomorrow. All the best!

I would do a Ramsay and stand at the corner of Victoria and St Georges with samples to give to office workers.
There's some big offices nearby eg Shell, not to mention all the staff at the Duxton, WA symphony and the Courts.
We're pretty spoilt at the other end of the Terrace, but you could take some business away from some of the shitty popular spots down that end.

  • Only open until 3pm. Just so others on here know.

Wish I was down that way. Nom Nom on some yummy pho. The overnight oats look good too. Good to see something that people might actually see as good value (ie filling) at a somewhat reasonable price.

If I were you, i would consider offering Asian food for breakfast as well as lunch. I would prefer it, if I were in the area and that could set you apart. Does vietnam have congee?

Looking forward to seeing your catering menu.

Maybe you could open up one night for a OzBargain Perth get together?

  • Looks great! Will have to check it out when I'm back in Perth :)

  • Pretty ordinary pho. Broth is quite bland.

Cafe focused on too many things to make a good pho.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Got hammered today and we had no idea it was going to be that busy. Guess that's the power of Ozbargain! Today revealed a few flaws in the system but we've worked on improving it this afternoon, and will continually work to improve each day.

@ihbh - this has been passed onto the chef and they will work on the recipe over night. We are also altering our menu to focus on our strengths.

Hope to see you back soon :)
