    This model doesn't have GPS.
    As stated on Dashcamtalk -
"When looking to purchase a camera, avoid any without GPS and G-Sensor since these are fakes. Currently there are 4 primary types of GS1000 cameras. There are 2 cheaper, lower quality ones with a blue menu. There are also 2 better quality cameras with orange menus."

YOU CAN CHECK REAL VIDEO SAMPLES DONE IN HORNSBY/SYDNEY by this camera.

    • +7

Ok ok, no need to shout :P

  • +2

Does it have GPS and a G- Sensor built into this one?
Also what is the firmware on this one and is the menu blue or orange?

  • I purchased one ofthe flea bay knock offs for around the same price as this one and it was a comlete pos, I ended up being refunded

    • You can buy from - checking real video sample.

i wonder where to get this installed in sydney>

    • +1

It sticks to your windscreen & plugs into your cigarette lighter.
      Installation assistance??

      • +1

No, I dont want to use up another cigarette lighter slot, I meant wiring it up. So that the wires are hidden from view, and i can attach a decent capacitor/battery to do recording when the car is parked.

        • +1

Not that hard to tap into the power cable for the cig lighter and run a cord behind everything.

        • +1

          Here is solution:

Power bank up to 10 hours
          http://www.securitylab.com.au/power-bank/power-bank-1000

But you should not leave working camera while you parking on direct sunlight
due to overheating issues but it is ok to leave under roof.

        • +1

@spectator maybe for your car? I have airbags on the A pillars (well its marked SRS) and I think it's a challenge to wire it properly even for a layperson. Dropping the wire straight down from the mirror is ugly and distracting. My other car was done properly in melbourne, just wondering if there are people who are good with such stuffs in syd.

        • PLease check how it should be:

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1CloziI4Uc

    • It is easy to install,
Just plug it into car charger as standard GPS navigator

    • -6

Requires a specialist to install, very costly, cheaper to buy new car with one built in

  • +2

Again, what menu (firmware) is this?

    says on dashcamtalk:

    Which Model to Purchase?

    so is fake or not………………….

Can you buy it for us and test it? :D

I have blue screen GS 9000. I am very happy with except I had to change car charger twice. Mine has GPS recording and 175 angle (fish eye) recording.
This one is only 120 degree. and No GPS.

    • I've got huge range of cams 120-170 degrees, with GPS or without:

      http://www.securitylab.com.au/cameras/Dash-Cameras-Australia

      • I believe it is important 170 degree in case of explaining emergency circumstances. It is almost 20% difeerence view/recording for the event you may be witness unless you have involved.

  • +2

I agree with the OP, as the article stated fake GS1000 using NOVATEK PROCESSOR, so this is not fake but no GPS which is a neg side, but the price is almost half of the one with GPS.

Rep, just wondering, what is the menu color? orange or blue? how about the firmware?

  • I Know I sound really naive, Why do we need this cam?

    • +1
    • Its to catch the lady in the car in front with her head under the steering wheel.

Now to be serious, since technology is getting cheaper, something like this is good especially for a car crash scenario. There is no grey area of he said and she said when you have the video of a crash.

    • So you get to record the interesting things you see driving around during the day (ie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaiB-8pmT1E) and for insurance should some things go bad - proof as to who was at fault, no more relying on "your word against theirs".

  • can you do pick-up? thanks

  • When i got one of these i must say i had followed the dash cam advice and ensured i got an Orange screen one from seller on AliBaba with GPS just over $100. Mostly these dash cams are toys and in perfect lighting conditions they give good video - not so at night quite poor. Also I have noticed on sunny days the number plates are often not readable from video as the glare is too much on plates. I bought mine for fun with the thought I might post the occasional road rage to the police (never have as i cant be bothered). It has proved useful on a couple of occasions to get tail gaters to back off when they see i have a cam (although i have to point that out to them). anyway most of these are going to be toys as I dont know if they could be useful in accident or not especially if the date/time gets out of sync e.g. resets etc. whatever you spend - it is most likely only going to be a toy unless you spend big bucks.
I dont see the offer as a bargain though as similar cams can be had for the same price.

  • Rep do you have any battery powered dash cams? I don't want any wires.

      Here is solution:

You'd be hard pressed to get 10 hours out of one of these, I've tested a Uniden iGO CAM 300 with a 5000mah unit from Jaycar (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MB3644) and only got 4hrs 45mins.

        • if with motion detection even longer.
Basically power banks have less capacity than advertised. I would say 5000-> 3000

      • thanks rep will have a look

  • Hello Rep,
How does it "pick number plates"?
    Any information on that.
    Thanks

    • You can see number plates on a quite long distance unlike other cheap cams with price under $50
THe market price for this model $80-$110 in AU

  • So what is the consensus? Looking to buy a cam and this one looks decent. Deal or not OzB? I was looking at the DR32 on eBay but it is $145.

  • +2

Well looks like most people want a model with GPS any chance of doing a deal on one of them also ?

  • Can OP film a night time REAL VIDEO SAMPLES please?

    • I will do. Based on my experience with headlight it is very good.

  • I wish dash cams were built into cars as an option, like GPS. In Russia every car has a dash cam standard.

Can I ask why people need GPS?

    • I think a lot of people assume that it might help them fight a ticket. However, since these (and almost all other GPSs) are not calibrated to legal standards, they would not be admissible as evidence. So as it is, it might be handy to track your trip but nothing else.

    • ORLY?
      Tribant have Dash Cams?

Russians buy dash cams to protect themselves from Accident Scams.

  • +1

Hmmm…. looks like the attached video shows you and the car in front going through a stop sign without stopping!

  • thanks OP, ordered 2 (order #199)
hopefully happy and wont need to use 14 day money back

  • How long is the power cable that runs to the cigarette lighter socket?

  • Any options for motorbikes?

  • Does it have a battery?
Says "To charge through USB" so assume so. How long would it last on battery if it has one?
    Thanks

    • YEp. it's got built-in rechargeable battery

    • ~20-45mins

  • where is the A5S60 promoted on your youtube channel? can't find it on your site - how much?

  • Hi OP,

I am interested to get 1. Can I pick up during weekends? Thanks.

  • yes from Hornsby , please send your request to [email protected]

  • Hi Rep,

Does this unit supposed to have IR Night Vision? If yes how do you turn it on?
Another thing what does the recycle option (0, 128m, 256m, 512m) for in settings? The default is 256m, does it mean the max recorded video file is 256m for 1 file? The manual is hopeless.
