Free Try Shooting Session at SSAA St Marys (NSW) [SAT 12/10]

110

Note: Facebook not required, it's just that's the only place I could find the details.
Free "Try Shooting" day at Sporting Shooters St Marys this Saturday. I believe they will allow you to try both pistol and rifle shooting (they have 25m pistol bays and 50m rifle bays). I'm unsure of how many rounds or what calibers they will be trying, but I know their range rifle is a .22 (and .22 is cheap ammo, so being that it's a free day it's likely what they'll allow). The free try shooting day runs from 10am-3pm but you won't be shooting the whole time (probably depends on how many people are there)

From their FB page: All participants must be 12 or older (12-17 require a parent to accompany them), bring Photo ID and wear enclosed footwear.
I would also add to this that if you have hearing protection or eye protection it may be best to take this along - though they will likely supply these. Also for anyone with a questionable past, you will be required to fill in a P650 (http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/139…) before shooting, so review it before going along so you don't waste your time.

Address is 30 Power St, St Marys.

Just about every gun/shooting club runs an annual free open day.

    • I've only seen SSAA do it (or at least advertise it). I know almost every club allows people to try shooting for a small fee though, and I encourage people to try it!

      • I agree, we need more Australians with guns and the skills to use them…

I'm not joking, if our politicians don't fix up, they need to fear the voting public.

seriously you only need to be 12 to be able to fire a gun?

Considering people aged 12-17 have to be supervised by a parent (and everyone is supervised by a range officer) there is no issue here.

  • Can I bring my wife?

    • Yes, your wife would be welcome to come - she might even enjoy it! I've taken a group of girls to a try shooting day and they all had a great time.

  • Went to something similar in Melbourne, a couple of years ago. Good day out, well organised, as I'm sure this one will be, too!
