  • Great price here for nex-f3 and nex-5n twin lens as well!!

    • -1

You would have to go for the NEX-6 twin lens kit (mentioned by aeon below) before the 5n, it's even cheaper!

      • How is $864 cheaper than $443?

        • Argh, just saw the silver for $443, noticed the black for $888. Scrolling through the deals is painful through a phone (+the website is a bit broken, sale prices weren't shown on product page, but were on the deal link & when put in the cart).
Also think the NEX-5R twin for $580 is a great deal as well.

        • can't see NEX-6 in HN website?

    • +1

Thank you hendyb and thank you OP!

I picked up a NEX F3 for $380 a couple of days ago. Harvey Norman were great about the price protection. Add $95 to the tally of how much OzBargain has saved me.

      • Is the NEX F3 a good camera?

        • this is actually the cheapest price for NEX F3 that I have seen!
I bought it just under 400 months ago and I thought it was cheap.

It is a great camera especially for guys who want to upgrade from point and shoot cameras. NEX-5N is even better in terms of image quality (or so I heard) but F3 has built-in flexible flash.

        • +1

Mmmmm, pretty sure these weren't around 33 years ago ;p

        • was meaning to say "under $400 few months ago" :p

  • Not a bad deal if there was stock available in store near my area.

  • No stock in Sydney.

    • Might go for nex5n or epl3 twin lens, any suggestion?

      • Looks like the 5N has much better image quality Snapsort compare

        • Whats the difference between 5, 5N and 5R?

        • Just got the epl3 because it comes with a longer lens and looks less bulkier.

        • +2

Think of them as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th (5T, coming out in a couple of months' time) refresh of the model.

          5 is 14MP (1st gen sensor)
5N and 5R are 16MP (best image quality, 5N has arguably tiny tiny tiny bit better noise at high ISO, 5R has hybrid focus) 2nd gen sensor.
5T has NFC integration (TBC re image quality)

5 in this deal is atleast like 3 years old since release so i would not consider it.

        • Ignore nex5(first gen). I would go for 5n, although 5r has a few upgrades but nothing major. Check amazon review about nex5r, and you will see all.

        • Guys need bulkier XD

        • Think of it like this:

          NEX-5: v1.0
NEX-5n: v2.0 (new sensor, touch screen)
NEX-5r: v2.5 (screen flips 180, new dial + function button, on sensor PDAF, wifi)
          NEX-5t: v2.6 (nfc)

        • 5N, 5R (and I suppose 5T) has touchscreen. Which makes focusing and pic browsing alot easier.

5 doesn't have that. 5R is best value IMHO.

        • resistive screen(5R) vs capacitive screen (5N), ummm…

    • delivery is just under $6, no?
Still lots of good stuff with good price here.

  • Fantastic price for the NEX-6 Twin Lens Kit:

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sony-nex-6yb-16-1mp-nex-digit…

If this was a few months ago I would buy it right now, but I'm waiting to see what the new camera announcement from Sony next week entails.

    • Depends on which twin lens. The kit + wide or kit + television. My guess is the 16mmy. No details on page. Good luck hunting for the phantom stock.

      • The lens should be 16-55mm & 55-210mm, good deal though, nex5n or nex6, depending on the budget

        • The double kit is 16-50 pancake and 55-210. There was never any 16mm kit option (stand alone or double kit) with the NEX-6.

        • The nex-5 comes with prime lens?

        • Then that is a pretty good price, even just to get the body.

        • If I say I just mistyped a number…

        • The 5 (not 5N, 5R or the coming 5T) in OP's deal comes with 16mm + 18-55. It was in the last sentence of the product description at HN.

        • No, false advertising, just went all the way to my local HN to find its the stock 16-50 3.5 lens, very annoying, I was quite excited about such a good lens coming with it. Didn't buy it but may go back

        • The 16mm pancake is a pretty average lens.

  • Sony NEX-5R Compact System Camera Twin Lens Kit - Black - $593 (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sony-nex-5r-compact-system-ca…). Good price but disappointed could not get one. Anyone successful in getting one?

    • You're unable to purchase the 5R kit online?

      • Can't find an option to buy online as well… :(

    • +1

Also couldn't find the option to buy online (either delivery nor pickup), but a HN store in Gippsland showed as having stock (but still didn't have the option to buy online). Rang up the store & they have 3 in stock, made a reservation for pickup. That same store is now showing no stock :-/
So it maybe worth ringing up a few local stores to see if they actually have stock…

      • Thank you. Will try ringing but not hopeful for Sydney. No "Add to Cart" option cos sold out online. HN Chat guy online confirmed.

    • PMed.

    • Colour :)

  • Note: Sony is announcing Full Frame Nex A7/A7r in a week. So older cams will be making their way out/cheaper.

    • +3

If you're talking about the full frame NEX-9 - or any other full frame Sony camera for that matter - it won't have any effect on the APS-C NEX cameras - it's basically a different market.

  • Just picked up a Sony NEXF3 in Black with the 18-55 Kit Lens for $285, very happy and thank you OP.

    • how much usually? lol. thanks mate.

  • Hi
I was looking for the NEX-3N KIT.

Do you think is better grab the the NEX-5N KIT or the NEX-6YB from HN?

    Thanks

    • ran into Harvey Norman, they only have box-open and display items, Nex 6 is very limited in few location like Bundall QLD (has 4 of them), gotta pass the deal since new cameras coming soon and much better low-light capturing ability

    • +1

IF you can afford it, 6 is a much more complete package, it has built in EVF for that old school photography experience.

IF you care about photo quality but hold camera at an arm's length, 5N is plenty.

3 is if you are a point and shooter IMHO entry level user that just wants snaps :p

  • Just brought the NEX-6YB

    Thanks a lot

  • are these online stores only? can't find a pick up???

  • Must contain myself!! I have so many cameras from ozbargain deals

    • -1

Get away from OzB for today, good alternative is XXX site. lol.

  • -2

The NEX-6YB is the real bargain here, sell the powerzoom and the 55-210mm lenses then buy a 24mm Zeiss Sonnar. You will get a beast of a combination for under $1k.

    • +1

24mm zeiss sonnar. where do you buy???

      Nex-6yb -864 dollars……

    • +2

How do you think you're going to get that combo for under a $1000? Unless you reckon you can sell the two kit lenses for more than $450 each. The 24mm Zeiss is at least $1000 by itself (for a grey import from Hong Kong).

      • Yes, but maybe he knows someone……………………….haha…………please spread the good news!!

        • +3

If I could get that kit under $1k, I'll take one right now.

      • +1

Agreed; I'd have jumped on it immediately if I knew I could get that kit for <$1k. ;)

Looking at recent eBay sales, the most you can expect for both NEX-6Y kit lenses is about $400 in total ($150 for the SELP1650 and $250 for the SEL55210). You'll likely get less than that, particularly if you factor in eBay/PayPal fees.

The best price I can find locally (just a very quick search) for the Zeiss 24mm f/1.8 is $995 delivered with a Sony X discount.

  • +1

I really want the 5R :) Can we pricematch somewhere? JB? Good Guys?

  • +6

I try to price match nex 5R at the good guys but say no.
    its $1099 in there.
not any store in melbourne had stock.
I asked my father to buy it in Bundaberg qld . they have some there. but he have to go by bicycle for 8km . poor him :(
    love him so much.

its 844! tell the goodguys to update!

  • +1

the only store with stock in nsw is in mclean and the nearest store to it. its on the border of nsw near qld. Long hours of driving to get there

    • Why don't u just get it delivered? It's like only $6 to Sydney (for most items as far as I can tell)

  • +1

Don't forget your $5 vouchers people for signing up to the newsletter!

Just got the Nex F3 was $285.95 delivered with the voucher :) - no local pickup available as sold out.

Was going to get the 5N but for the extra $160 for the dual lens kit, but you only get the same 18-55mm lens plus the default SEL16 E-mount 16mm F2.8 flat lens which would be of limited use. If it was the 55-210mm then it'd be a different story. No flash in the 5R either without shelling out another $50-100 for the most basic one.

As such the F3 is probably the better deal for me. Missed the previous $320 DSE deals.

Excited to have finally broken into the camera world :)

    • +3

What you mean no flash in the 5R, it comes with a detacheable flash.

      • Sorry missed that.

    • +2

Would it be better to get the NEX F3 twin lens kit for $435? Seem lik the zoom lense is selling for more than $250 on ebay.

      • You might be on to something…

      • Ended up upgrading my order to the twin kit for +145 (one was available locally). Figured I may as well for the price/could flog it or the default 18-55 on ebay if needs be.

        • Hi I just want to take pics of my kids and holiday snaps is it worth it getting twin lens for me?

  • 5Ns are all gone!!!

    • Bought a silver kit and a black kit Nex5N XD.

      • Doing well mate!! Am just looking for a RX100, but the NEX 5N was only $445, why not… but it was sold out…. hahaha probably a good thing.

        • always can find good deals here, just a matter of time.
What a camera day! Good luck with your future purchase mate!

    • still have 5N on stock now.

  • now just wait for good deal on sony sel 50mm 1.8.

  • I'm going overseas next month and really want a good camera. Sony nex f3 looks good but has no wifi. I wanted wifi so I can download pics to my iphone
