    Another cheap BBQ? Awesome!

    • Yeah, but more expensive than the one posted yesterday.
Can anyone dissect differences between the two ?

    * Wild Country Aiden Metal Trolley BBQ - 4 Burner ($37.80 )

This one looks & feels more sterdy & robust than others. Also the built quality is good too.

      • thanks. What sort of gas cylinder you guys use with this? how much it costs for refill etc?

  • Anyone know about the quality? I don't know much about BBQ brands. Is this a good brand?

Spending $40 or $50 on a BBQ will get you a unit that will get hot and cook things. No problems there and I'm sure they'll do that well enough however spending more will increase all the other aspects including:

      • Longevity of product ie. I'm sure this will last a couple/few years but probably not too much more without exceptional care & attention to cleaning & storage. Better quality BBQs can easily handle exposure to rain and even salty environments without rusting.
      • Even heat distribution across the entire cooking surfaces (plate & grille) which is difficult to achieve but allows the food on the outside to cook just as well/fast as the food towards the middle plus allows you to fully load the entire BBQ when you need to cook for more than a few people.
      • Resistence to Flare-ups. A better BBQ will handle fat flares & fires differently and prevent a disaster either from burning everything to a crisp or damaging other things around it (including you!)
      • Flavour. As above, a better BBQ uses the natural fats and moisture to add to the flavour of the cooked food.
      • Far better Gas efficiency
      • Portability
      • Parts availability
      • Easier to keep clean
      • The list goes on…

If you want a cheapie BBQ for your kids Sausage Sizzle or just want something to last a year or two then these cheapies will be perfect however if you're looking for something a little more versatile allowing you to cook properly, roast meats efficiently and even cook cakes etc. plus last many years before needing attention/replacing then you're going to need to spend more.

All depends on what you want to do with it and what your expectations are vs cost.

      My 2c anyway ;)

      • an expensive bbq isnt going to last if you dont know to season a new iron plate and maintain it
