Not sure how the Seagate stacks up against the proven players, eg. Samsung, Crucial, Intel. A thumbs up for the pricing tho!

    • if they don't rate compared to the others, pricing isn't that important…

    • Anandtech has a review, power usage is a little high so not great for notebooks. Otherwise all seems good other than Seagate SS reliability being an unknown.
      http://www.anandtech.com/show/6935/seagate-600-ssd-review/10

  • 7950 Price is good. New cards don't exist in this market position yet either.

  • Never knew Seagate made SSDs what a shift from the hard disk market.

    • They have been making hybrids for a while, this is their first full SSD.

It also uses memory and a controller that are make/used by others, so there isn't much unique here.

    • we've been using 4 x Seagate Enterprise SSDs 100GB for a good 6 months now…

wasn't too happy when DELL engineers didn't have any plans of supporting them in their firmwares.

      Works fine on Proliants G7.

I'll pick up a couple of these consumer grade ssds and test them out…

PS: btw the enterprise ssd units didn't come with any software nor does it have any utilities downloadable from seagate. Bought them in MSY for around $190 a pop back then.

  • "Razer DeathAdder 2013 Gaming Mouse"

Nice time to upgrade for $40 :D

Edit : Thought it had free shipping, it dosnt :(

    • Comes to $53 with shipping to Perth, $2 cheaper than when I bought mine since no-one would price match the MSY that was 40Kms away and not worth the drive to save $6…
Though most stores have stock these days at cheaper prices.

  • What are the free games that come with the monitors and which monitors? I've not been able to find any deets

  • Any chance to get. 7750 low profile card as part of the Sale? Thanks

    • Hi myarken,

Can't fulfill your request as we don't have any 7750 low profile in stock atm.

For some reason all of your Seagate drives seem to list 1 Year warranty yet Seagates listing states 3?

    • +1

3 years is correct, listings have been revised

      Cheers

Just bought a 120Gb for $105. Thanks OP.

  • How good are Seagate SSDs? They've never been a player in this market until now. What chipset do they use, and are they reliable?

    • Uses Link-a-Media LM87800 controller and Toshiba MLC NAND - both are reliable tech in SSD world.

      • What else uses LM87800?

  • Deathadder 2013 is a good price. I've heard about complaints regarding Razer quality but I got a Deathadder 2013 3 months ago as a replacement for my G5 and I like it.

  • Add a second 7950 or just shell out for the 290X

    Decisions, decisions.

  • on deal page it says "free! shipping*"

" *with purchase of selected graphic cards on this page"

but no free shipping at checkout with coupon given

        ok thanx

        • no worries :)

  • According to the review posted by martyn:
Seagate 600 and 600 Pro are 2.5” SATA drives. Their enclosures are completely screw-less, which makes getting in a bit of a pain but it’s not impossible.

It may be a problem of fixing it to the case.

    • Small bit of gaffa tape and you'll be right

    • But considering vibration isn't a issue attaching them to a case isn't that big of a deal.

    • They still have the regular screw holes that all 2.5" drives have.
You can buy 2.5" to 3.5" adapters pretty cheap on ebay.

  • I'm conflicted between getting an Asus 7970 when the price drops below ~$350, or get an R9 280x. Gahhhh

    • You can pick up the Powercolour 7970 for $329 now from Pccasegear. Probably not as good as the Asus..

      • +1

Alternatively for people that can't pickup - we selling at $319 in our promo atm

        • Duh - should open my eyes.

No chance of any GTX 780 specials? Or will we have to wait for the 290X to become available ;)

        • No specials for them yet…

          Regards

      • My thoughts exactly, wonder if sapphire is a decent brand isn't it?

        • +1

I've owned a few reference Sapphires (5850, 6970's) and they were all good, no problems.

    • R9 280x pricing in Australia set to be $400 MINIMUM (from the article, based on past experience, price will be more than AMD recommended)! I'd say a 7970 at this price is a great buy since the R9 280x is pretty much a re-badged 7970. Although who's to say if retailers won't be flogging these cards off cheaper once the new models come out…..

      From http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/359906,how-much-will-amd8…

While the NDA on the revamped range has been lifted, cards aren’t actually due to go onsale until the 11th, which means that we won’t see real world pricing until then. For now at least we can look at the Australian SEP (standard etail pricing - which AMD has recommended to Australian retailers), and the US pricing to see how much it has changed, and then see whether or not the retail channel can actually deliver cards at these prices when they hit shelves later this week.

      R7 240 – $89 (US$69)

      R7 250 – $119 (US$89)

      R7 260X – $179 (US$139)

      R9 270X (2GB) – $259 (US$199)

      R9 280X – $399 (US$299)

      • +1

The R9 280x seems to be performing much better than the 7970ghz in previously Nvidia optimised titles. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/R9_280X_Gaming/20.htm…
In other games it's pretty much that same.

        • This is probably just due to driver updates, 7970 would get the same.

        • Hmm well that's confusing.. They state "All video card results were obtained on this exact system with exactly the same configuration." but they also state they used the 13.11 beta drivers ONLY for the R 7/9 cards. If they are using different drivers, the comparison is invalid imo (even if the drivers don't state performance improvements).

  • I'm a noob with SSD's, but comparing this with the Samsung EVO's the EVO's seems to have better specs at a lower price? (I'm assuming that for all figures, higher values = better)
    http://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/samsung-840-evo-series…

    Can someone clarify please?

    • note: Samsung 840 and 840 EVO are using TLC, not the MLC

Will you be able to feel the difference on the read/write speed on different SSD? — most likely no

Will you be able to feel the difference on the life on different SSD (i.e. longer life)? — most likely yes

Personally I never bought any 840 or 840 EVO

      • False. SSDs die all the time, but NAND endurance is not an issue for regular desktop users. Different story for enterprise though.

  • How does the 7970's listed here compare to this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118789

    • Better cooling with the Asus, but takes 3 slots, these only take 2 slots.

    • +2

      This is not Kogan.

    • +2

Does it say kogan anywhere in the deal?

    • +7

Complaining about ShoppingSquare in a SE bargain is one thing, complaining about Kogan is something else.

  • I'm no tech head, but aren't those read/write speeds significantly slower than a similar price Samsung EVO?

  • No sd/micro sd cards this time :(

  • worth upgrading from 6950 to 7950?!

  • Damn, you snooze, you lose…deals expired =/

    • Had no problem just ordering as SSD

  • I click on the 7950 on the banner and shows the non discounted price and the coupon reckons it doesn't work. Has it expired?

    • The graphics card deal expired on 11-10-13.
