With the huge new update of patch 1.2 that recently came out, it's a pretty good time to get stuck into this game and see what it's all about.

An excerpt from Steam's description page:

Dig, fight, explore, build! Nothing is impossible in this action-packed adventure game. The world is your canvas and the ground itself is your paint.
Grab your tools and go! Make weapons to fight off a variety of enemies in numerous biomes. Dig deep underground to find accessories, money, and other useful things. Gather resources to create everything you need to make the world your own. Build a house, a fort, or even a castle. People will move in to live there and perhaps even sell you different wares to assist you on your journey.
But beware, there are even more challenges awaiting you… Are you up to the task?

  • If you have not bought this game yet, this is your time to. It's well worth the $10 pricetag, so you can't go wrong with paying $2.49. Great game.

  • To make a small note, the Steam page quote cites 'Free content updates' - I'm not sure but I think the 1.2 patch was meant to be the 'final' patch of the game, and the developer is moving on to work on other stuff now. It's still a game with a huge amount of stuff to do, but I don't think there's going to be more added in future.

    • Nope, it's just going to be the final update of that size, as was 1.1. There is already another update scheduled for Halloween that should add in new costumes and new bosses. The 1.2 patch almost doubled the game, and its unlikely another patch that size will be released

  • I bought this last time it hit <$2.50.
    (Jan 24th - Terraria 4-Pack 7.49 USD)…
    My sons, nephew and niece love it more than Minecraft.

  • First time buying a game off steam, but I signed up to buy it because I've played the trial terraria on my tablet and liked it. Only thing is though that this game just freezes on the create a character page. Steam also froze when I was trying to buy it on IE but worked fine on chrome. Any advice? Does anyone else have this issue?
    Edited to say I'm using windows 8.

      Did you buy it using a browser or the actual Steam program?
      I recently bought the 4-pack on Steam using my Paypal account on Windows 8 with no problems.
      I also have never tried buying a Steam game outside of the Steam program before.

      So what I recommend doing is installing Steam (you have to install it anyways to play it) and buying it on there, this way you can find out easier if you bought the game or not in your Steam library.

      ===========================

      If your having problems with the actual game, if you check your Terraria folder in the Steam folder
      (Default "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Terraria" for 64-bit and
      "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\Terraria" for 32-bit")

      There should be two files "dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe" and "dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe" install them both and the game should work properly! (Steam should of automatically done this when you first run the game though).

      ===========================

      If you are new to Steam, first you login to your account, then it checks for updates and installs them, after that it will open up the Store page, there you can search for games and see latest releases and sales.

      On the top of the Steam window you can see: Store, Library, Community and your Username/Profile Name.

      Store - Where to buy and search for games, demos and software.

      Library - A list of all the games and software you have purchased, free limited time games (this usually happens when there's a sale on kinda old game) and demos. This is where you play and download games.

      Community - A place you can interact with others and share images, videos and your own creations for games (Steam workshop - only for supported games). You can also go to the "Greenlight" where you can find new upcoming games made by indie developers which you can support by voting for them! (I might one day be there! :D).

      Your Profile Name - Here you can see your activity, friends, groups, badges and inventory. Basically its a social network for gamers. But the one you would be using most is your inventory where you will find your gifts, cards or in-game items in.

      Sorry for making a massive paragraph XD

  • Thanks heaps NaigHikariYami!! And thanks for the explanation too.
    I did buy it from a browser but had to download steam to install it.
    I'll give it another go later and try downloading those files again :)

  • seems good might take a shot, $2.49 can't go wrong :)
