      • Are you guys confident that the TV will eventually arrive? Or are you expecting a drawn out refund is more likely?

        I've been given a host of inconsistent responses, so am unsure…

        • i was also told today that they were expecting shipment from Panasonic which didn't arrive this week so they told me it will arrive next week start , it's good tv and i done lot of research on it before buying so i will wait for few more days , but surely i will miss it this weekend (as i thought it will be delivered in weekdays and whole weekend i will explore it)

        • Same, will wait a little longer and see what happens.

          There were 2 at our local store but its too big to fit in our hatchback.

          Hoping the courier will call beforehand.

          I've been through a similar situation before with another DS deal. Basically no stock and they came back after 3 days and said that it would take 5 weeks to get stock. They offered the option to cancel and get a refund or wait 5 weeks. The camera arrived 5 weeks later, which was ok for me as it was for a trip that was after that timeframe.

          In summary, they mostly, but not always, honour the deal but it can mean a wait.

    Spoke with Karen "Customer Service" on the phone after being on hold forever and she gave me the "sucks to be you, its the warehouse thats not giving us answers and the distributor is delaying blah blah rant". Very unhappy with their level of customer service so I asked to speak with her supervisor who was called Elvin. After being on hold for another 15 minutes he gave me the exact same answer and the exact same level of bullsh*t that is so synonymous with Dick Smith. Eventually he agreed to call me back next Wednesday with an explanation MAYBE and said to either cancel the order or keep waiting with no estimated date.

    Hate being dicked around by these idiots and they wonder why they can't stay competitive, the basic level of customer service isn't even present in their call centres. Lost me as a customer!

    • Yep, after 6 phone calls with no proper answer I demanded money back and even that is taking a week to process.

      Won't be buying anything from Dicks online again… I am so disappointed with the service that they have provided or lack thereof.

      • Has your order status changed to cancelled? I've called many times. Cancelled last 2 times but my order still says "awaiting fulfillment".

        EDIT: I spoke with them and they suggested the online system is unreliable. I looked in my bank account and noticed my money have been refunded to my credit card. This was quick.

        Now, to see if I can get a deal close to this one somewhere….

  • Same problem here. I placed my order early on the first night of the deal and have had no response. After a week (yesterday) i called up and waited for 30 minutes, i was told the system was down and she couldn't see my order. She said she would call back today and advise what is happening.
    On the plus side, she called back. On the downside, i got the same story about low stock…getting another shipment….

    However, i am very curious to know how i didn't get one from the stock on hand when i must have been one of the first to put my order in?

    And to quote the DSE website
    "Low Stock: Stock allocated on a first in first served basis"

    Has anyone had any luck going into the store and picking one up instead of getting it deliverd?

    • I was told that you couldn't do that if ordered online unless it was a click and collect deal which this wasn't.

  • I rang last Saturday to cancel mine, despite 3 phone calls it still says 'awaiting fulfillment' and I've had no refund - looks like I'll have to call them again and won't be buying from Dick Smith in the future after such poor customer service. Luckily I grabbed one in store from Good Guys for $995 - very happy with it, hope you guys waiting for stock manage to get one too!

    I know what it's like to be in Dick Smith's Customer Service position. I used to be employed at the largest IT distributor to Officeworks, and when they ran out of stock after a promotional sale basically the flow was:

    Customer > Officeworks > IT Distributor > Suppliers.

    Suppliers have limited stock for ALL retailers and us as the IT distributor have to divide up the limited stock that has been allocated to Officeworks only. Basically the customers hound Officeworks, Officeworks hounds me, I hound the suppliers, the suppliers give their next ETA from their manufacturing plant (in this particular case, probably Thailand). And then your TV is sitting on some cargo ship cruising across the Indian ocean.

    Still very frustrating as the customer however it's difficult being the customer call centre for a retailer and need to have a thick skin.

    Hope you guys get your TVs really soon.

    takes too long to get someone on the line so after 10minutes i hung up
    no communications from Dick Smith about the delay is not professional

    This was an impulsive buy and I am not in hurry. I have spent approximately $5000 this month mainly from ozbargainers' posting. Shipment has been arriving daily. Some I have forgotten that I had purchased.

      Glad your not in any hurry dk, I don't have 5k to spend in a month so I don't forget about the purchases I've made, some of us live in the real world where we expect half decent customer service, enjoy your new plasma if it ever shows up! You might have forgotten all about it by the the time it arrives, awesome surprise haha

  • Mine has been picked too … shipment soon. I don't feel too bad about the whole thing because it is a fantastic price and I was always confident I would get my TV when it arrived as Dicksmith is a reputable retailer. Some communication along the way would have been much better though.

    • I got a shipping reference number, there doesn't seem to be any tracking available though?
      Previous dick purchases have been sent via startrack with online tracking available

  • I HAVE ORDERED ONLINE ON 17 OF OCT, BUT CAN'T WAIT THEN GO TO STORE TO PICK UP ONE BY MYSELF. I RANG THEM NEXT DAY TRY TO CANCEL THE ONLINE ORDER, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED FOR NEARLY TWO WEEKS, AND I CALL BACK YESTERDAY SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT REFUND IS PROCESSING AND WILL TAKE ANOTHER 3-5 DAYS..BUT TODAY , I GOT THE TV DELIEVRED TO MY HOUSE, WHAT'S GOING NO WITH THE DICKSMITH ONLINE DEPARTMENT IT LOOKS SO MESSY, I CALL THEM AGAIN AND THEY STILL TOLD ME THAT REFUND STILL PROCESSING, AM I GET A EXTRA TV FOR FREE?

    • You should get a new keyboard Bryan, your caps lock appears to be broken.

      I wouldn't count on being able to keep the TV for free. If anything they'll process the payment and you'll be stuck with two. Or they'll hold your payment until the TV is returned. Having said that… windfall errors do occur… but you'd have to examine your conscience as to whether you could keep the TV and claim the refund.

  • Called them again today, apparently my order (17 October 2013 8:56:58 PM) is still on back order and there is no expected ship date. The agent told me that she has sent this to the escalations team who will let me know what is going on in the next 24-48 hrs. This sounds like the elusive call back promise that other people have been getting.

    All the more frustrating given they have advertised this in the new catalogue on sale albeit $100 more….

  • Mine was delivered at 1pm today… pretty random, no call or sms before to let me know they were arriving.

    • Thats good news.

      Mine was unsuccessful delivery - must of just missed them. Wished they called when they're on the way to give us a little notice.

      Will call the courier tomorrow to re-schedule.

        In fairness to Dick Smith i must point out:
        I discovered the crack in the screen late on Friday night.
        I went straight to Chirnside Park DSE (Vic) on Saturday morning and told them what had happened and they were apologetic and very helpful in swapping it over with one they had in stock.

        +1 for DSE, -1 for the courier

  • This TV is very good especially after tinkering with custom function. I wish it has more HDMI ports and a headphone jack for my wireless headphones. Overall I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend to anyone.

      so long for it to show up damaged

      • Mine arrived as I was replying to Punkboy, the panel is totally fcuked has 3 large cracks in it
        one of them goes three quarters of the way down the centre of the screen

        • What are they doing to these TVs that they are cracking like this!? They're made from tempered glass! When I was reading the above comments I thought the courier may have transported them while laying flat, and that the screens may have flexed with the weight of the panel while moving (and cracked as a result)… but this is incredible.

          We're going thru return process thru online sales.

          Have to see if they can refund or exchange and then decide. So much heartache leaning towards a refund at the moment.

          after some negotiations I managed to exchange my busted plasma
          at the nearest Dicks

          I assume Startrack don't stick around to open it and allow checking for cracks?

          It's a bit weird that the latest deliveries had cracks…

        • Anyone surprised - no telly today. Dick Smith couldn't give me a tracking number when I called. Unbelievable. After insisting this situation was BS and that they needed to get me a tracking number today, got a call back 4 hours later and yes, a tracking number.

          I rang StarTrack cos the web status is confusing only to be met with, "oh this is strange, it has scanned from Perth." I live in Sydney. DS are trucking this from Perth to Sydney.

          I think this may explain some of the breakages, as they are probably trucking them around the country.

          Oh yeah, the punchline. My local store 2km away still has two units in the window.
