  • I wonder if we're going to see $10 prepaid sim pack again.

      • for the last few months, only ipad starter packs have come on 10 dollar special, not the usual starter packs that you can use for prepaid mobile activations (encore, simplicity, long life etc).

    • unfortunately, 15-dollar packs are becoming the norm for general (non ipad) discounted 30-dollar starter kits. Woolies have not had it on 10 dollars about 4-5 months afaik.

  • When u buy these $30 starter kits how long do u have to activate them?

How many can you have activated per person?

    • generally, they have 2-year expiry periods.

I read on forums that some people have more than 5 active at the same time.

  • OW Morayfield still have these for $10.

Keep in mind the $30 starter kits only have 700mb, where else the ipad ones have 3GB starter allowance.

I've got 3 activated and just keep doing new ones each time.

    • if you want to activate as mobile broadband (not ipad) plan; why not activate them as prepaid cap encore? it has 400MB plus with 30 dollar main credit you can buy (700+200) 900 MB more data. Also 220 dollars of cap credit can be used for data at 2 dollars per MB rate which gives you 110 MB more. In total, you would have 1,410 MB data, double the amount you would get if you activate the kit as mobile broadband.

    • Are you able to buy me some? I'll pay $10 for labour ! lol

Need 5 for $10 each for my travelling.

  • Just in time… I was tossing up if i should buy one of these or not today for RRP $59… passed it up to wait for something to come in on OzB, and i was not disappointed!

And a curious question… what's to stop you getting it activated the cheaper sim cards as iPad and then sticking in this usb stick??.. will they cut you off, or just ring you and scold you? Dont see why Apple devices get all the love… Hardly seems fair.

Activate sim on Telstra LiveChat as an iPad sim for 3GB data.

Set the APN on ur wireless device to this so it detects ur non apple device as an apple device.

Been using this sim on my wireless dongle for many months and never got d/c or data cut down or service canceled before.

      APN=Telstra.iph

      • I do the same but find that Telstra does indeed charge me more than what I actually used, going by the bandwidth usage as shown on my pocket wifi device itself.

        • Ive been using it like this for awhile, even signed up and checked my account on telstra website and its been correct
Havnt been overcharged once, do note they charge in blocks not by single byte like most carriers, maybe thats y on ur dongle shows less data.
Ive herd they detect by imei but ive never had a problem yet..

      • I think they detect your IMEI number and based on that it will see what device you have.

  • How is this deal compared to this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119796.

  • Is the dongle locked to Telstra?

Am I able to use an iPad sim in the dongle to get 3gb of data at a cheaper rate?

One of the above user said to change the APN on the dongle, can this be done on the Telstra dongle in this deal?

    • Is the dongle locked to Telstra?

      being telstra pre-paid, yes - unlock via http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104758#comment-1449199 :)

Am I able to use an iPad sim in the dongle to get 3gb of data at a cheaper rate?

      yes with sim adapter

      • Don't need a sim adapter I'm using a dongle and just put it in and it reads fine :)

        • nice :)

  • I've been wanting to try Telstra in my area, to see if it's better than Optus, so, thanks for this!
