Get your facts straight. It's not really more processing power.
The Octa-Core on the N9000 is 8 core processor, however it only allows using 4 cores at a time. There is 2 sets of cores, one which is clocked faster at 1.9ghz and gets turned on when you need it. When you don't need the faster processing power it uses the lower clocked ones for battery longevity, these slower ones are clocked at 1.3ghz.
Where as the N9005 LTE version uses a Quad Core processor which is clocked at 2.26ghz. So technically speaking they perform in very similar speeds under full load.
lplau is correct. The octa core, is actually slower in all the performance tests I have seen. Although 8 cores, it is a slower clocked speed of 1.9ghz vs the quad cores 2.26ghz. So unless you find a application that makes use of all 8 cores, it will not be faster. The quad cores is faster. So you are buying a slower phone, which also doesn't support LTE, and has other limitations, such as the 4k video recording(possibly a side affect of the slower CPU).
I think you missed the point, 8 cores - yes, 8 operational - no. Only 4 are operating at a given moment. Performance between the two are similar, differences are only noticeable through synthetic benchmarks. It's not like we're running crysis 3 with fraps constantly monitoring fps on our phones.
The better question would be, which one performs better during power saving mode. I'm pretty sure most top tier phones stay on power saving mode due to the horrible battery drain without it.
I was willing to trade 4G for a lower price, but given 4K is gone aswell, snapdragon version seems a better buy.
ShoppingSquare is a terrible company to deal with. Treat this deal as if there is no warranty.
