I bought this from you guys for $19 like 3 weeks ago?

    • I doubt it mate.

Double check what you've bought. Modem as well as router? Gigabit LAN?
Because if you did in fact pick up this model for $19, I'd be very curious as to why you didnt post it here.
$19 for this is definitely in the realm of "pricing error" otherwise, and would have been jumped on by everyone!

Double check and let us know. But I'm quietly confident it's not the same model.

    • No, you bought a switch.

That doesn't have the Wireless-N Dual Band or ADSL Modem bits in it.

      • +4

And that switch is also Western Digital brand which is far from Netcomm and it doesn't even have a modem in it. lol makes you wonder about some people

    • I was in msy last week and they had a WD N600 wireless router for $19. They also had the switch for $19 which I bought.

I have not seen any reviews or feedback on whirlpool for the netcomm, but it might be fine, especially if you don't expect the wireless to cover the entire house and are not the type of person to worry about internet speed.

  • NetComm N600 Dual-Band Wireless N Modem Router with 4 Gigabit Ports

As far as I can see the nearest price is $20 dearer on mwave ……. so .. I think this qualifies as an OzBargain !!

  • Anybody know what chipset this modem uses?

Also how good/reliable is this modem? I was previously using an older Netcomm model NB6+4W v1 for many years. Which stopped working a few months back so looking to get a replacement and this looks good for the price.

    • Funny you say that because I've had that same modem for many years and now its stopped working.

      • Sounds like you've had a good run if it lasted for many years.

    • Broadcomm chipset and yes they're good and reliable.
I've got one (about a year old) I use on both bands and have no problems. Never needed to reboot.

      • I picked one up from MSY Auburn today. Haven't opened it yet. These are a new model so have not been out very long. Manual is dated May 2013. Turns out this isn't a Broadcomm chiupset like the older one but a Trend chip according to a post on another thread over on whirlpool. Can't confirm this for sure.

  • does this have integrated voip?

  • In terms of future-proofing is it worth holding out for ac routers over n?

    • I don't think so. Not until wireless AC is actually a standard. Where all hardware products are built to the same satandard. Since its only draft AC at the moment there are many different brands and each may not be able to talk to each other.

For example if you buy Netgear AC router/modem it may not be able to talk to wireless AC at AC speeds in other devices other than Netgear.

  • Ahh, I assumed it was past draft by now! Given some of my things aren't even N yet I spose I'm in no rush (just recently got a Note3 which I believe is ac)

    Thanks!
