  • I really like the google keyboard just because it has the personal dictionary and saves the word tht dont exist in dictionary. (S4)

All keyboards have that feature…. Personal dictionary and word lists are a common feature shared by most android keyboards.

But if you want something that is able to learn your writing style from emails, sms and twitter, and predict sentences using the collected data, SwiftKey is worth getting.
You can even sync your data between devices, no need to re learn.

The stock keyboard on s4 is primitive compared to SwiftKey.

I beg to differ. i have swift key, swype, google key board but nothing beats samsung keyboard (even the swype keyboard it build upon). it has the most accurate swype and it saves the word automatically and you can delete them easily as well. in swift key you have to manually saved each word you want to save. It is faster as well to detect 2 language at the same time.

I am actually finding it hard to move to xperia z since the best keyboard i can get is swift key

Tell ya what, that is one feature i would abhor. Would end up with all sorts of bits of language and understandable typos I cbf fixing and model numbers i will never use again and as well as all the ties i forget space after a punctuation (which it thank god presumes is a website, they are a PITA to type on swiftkey) and the like cluttering my KB and getting in the way of recognitions after

        • you can easily delete the word. when it comes up in the recognized word above the keyboard just tap and delete. IMO it is better than having to retype exact same word multiple times as i forgot to saved all the time. Also, the samsung keyboard remember the context better, specific words always shows up as i usually writes it. Well this is my opinion only - samsung keyboard is the best i have used

        • You can long press the word you want removed and it gives you an option to never predicted that word again. This is on SwiftKey.

Last I heard the stock Samsung keyboard on the S4 is built on Swiftkey.

prefer s4 keypad just because it's free

  • Great keyboard, but some free alternatives are Kii keyboard and Google keyboard

  • Got it a few weeks ago when it was 24 hours free but never used it.

  • Im all for time savers, but IMO i prefer the layout of the Android keyboard. I used this for a day or so, then went straight back to the generic version. I can see why people use it though.

  • I used this for ages, then bought swype. Both have their issues but swype is SO much better implemented it's amazing. Also the built in Nuance voice recognition (They also make the best voice dictation recognition software in the world.) Is just streets ahead of the android default (which is a pain in the ass to reach from swiftkey.
Also, if you ever want to use your device to remote administer anything the lack of direction keys in swiftkey makes it near impossible.
Its definitely better than the freebies imo, but just not as good as swype

  • I use TouchPal, which is free and quite good. Feature wise, I can't see any advantage of this over TouchPal. I have never tried this though.

  • I upgraded to the latest android OS for my s2 and ever since then it doesnt automatically correct my words when i type it out, i need to manually enter it. Is that normal? It used to do it on the older OS. This is for the standard samsung keyboard.

    • I don't remember the S2 samsung keyboard ever having the swipe ability. Check in settings if you're able to enable swiping.

      • Sorry I didnt mean swype, I meant the normal typing / texting. The dictionary used to auto correct but there is no option like that anymore, i can either leave it or pick from a collection of a few words what it could be. But i preferred auto correct

Dunno why people are downvoting others posts so much for just saying they prefer other keyboards. Even other keyboards based on Swift Key LOL.

I'll give this a shot and compare to what I currently use, Perfect Keyboard. The cloud backup is handy I suppose but I won't use it since I make myself bulletproof as far as transferring apps and settings across ROMs and devices by using doing Nandroid backup before any flashes and automatic daily Titanium Backup stored off my device.

I find Swype and similar keyboards to be completely unsuitable for me but you know, each to their own.

    • I was just about to post this, it's ridiculous, negs are fair if the features are misunderstood perhaps. But if they are valid reasons then it's just silly. Personally, I downloaded SwiftKey when it was free on Amazon App Store, was tempted before to buy it at another 50% sale but held off.

After a while I enjoyed, it seemed more stable than google keyboard and the "Flow" swype was quite interesting. Also as people have mentioned, the word prediction is quite good. However, in the end I realised one feature I missed (unless I missed it in the settings) was to automatically revert back to the normal keyboard after typing something in the "punctuation" keyboard and then pressing space. Something small, but something I used quite frequently.

So all in all, good keyboard - but in the end went back to Google's 4.2 one which is great, it's all preference in the end. For those who think $1.99 might be too much for a simple keyboard, try Google's one, if it's just loose change for you then go for it, can't go wrong (Y)
