First post, saw an old friend today with next weeks Big W catalogue. They have the PS3 160GB console on clearance for $148 as well as the Nintendo Wii for half price ($74) which comes with Mario Kart Wii. PLUS I will add that they have Assassins Creed Black Flag for Xbox 360 and PS3 for $58.
Also I don't think the flyer says online only just that click and collect is available.
I got the Goodguys at Maribrynong to price match the Wii yesterday and my wife got 2 PS3's from Sunshine this morning.
I went to Sunshine yesterday and found that they had 10 in stock out the back. I noticed that online it was showing sale starts 28th, while the actual catalogue was showing 31st.
My wife went today and they said they didn't have any in stock. She said, yes you do, you have 10 out the back. She was told that I should not have been told that and she said, what, your staff shouldn't tell the truth.
Anyhow, after plenty of haggling and her showing them the website on her phone saying that the sale started on 28th, she got 2 for $148 each.

Managed to buy one online this morning at 7:30am
I got lucky at a BigW in Brisbane.
They have about 9-10 160GB models left and had about 3 people in this morning asking for them.
I asked about putting one aside and the lady spoke with the manager and they let her put one through for me today at the clearance price.
Doesn't hurt to ask.

go back and ask if you can layby, cancel then purchase at sale cost with out any issue when it's the 31st.
You'll probably just have to pay the 2.00$ layby fee just make sure it's all good with the layby person.

No problem just make sure every things good before you finish the layby. They have on the layby receipt something saying you "may be" charged $25 or the first payment when cancelling so just ask them what will happen.
I have been to watergardens big w. Talked to the manager and he told me that I can either pay full price or come back on Thursday. There must be some sort of law regarding this. They can't advertise something like this and be sold out 10am and the store stock they have, won't be sold to us until a specific date. Feel like an idiot now going to the store.

"a cancellation fee of or the value of the payments made which ever is the lesser may be deducted" and "the two dollar service fee is forfeited." But she said that fee had never come up on all the time she's done them. I Got her to cross off and sign off that she'd crossed off that scary part so I wouldn't be worried about it.

Firstly, I think you should call them on phone first, make sure they have stock. If they say 'Yes', no way for them turn out when you present in shop. Secondly, when you are in bigw, just said you want to layby with full price, dont mention about halfprice, pay 10% deposit and make sure they dont charge $25 cancellation fee for future. Thirdly, you have to wait until Thursday to cancel and get it with half price. Done. :)
Thank you guys, I don't think if I'll be going back to BIGW for anything again, really disappointed on how they treat their customers, never seen customer service like this in my life, I'd rather save for my DSLR camera :),

It looks like they are protecting their catalogue stock as otherwise they could get in trouble for not having stock on the day. It's true that they can't layby clearance items so i guess it all depends on the store, at the manager's discretion. Also, when the website says 'low stock' it pretty much means 1-2 or nothing at all usually.
Anyone else tried price matching around the place with the catalogue print out given how hard it seems to be to get from Big W???
P.s. Online chat just told me it is 'sold out' online, but some will be available in stores from Thursday. Bah, good luck to those who are able to get one. :)

I got lucky last week when the manager put one aside for me and said he would price match it this week when BigW came on special. Their policy however is to not price match clearances so when I got one from BigW today I just grabbed it.

Your only option is a $100 hardware hack
Also if you try to play GTAV it will force you to upgrade to a later version again
the hardware hack is an optical disc emulator.. ie: you can then play ISO images from an external USB HDD - the bonus is because you're running official firmware, you can play online with very, very little chance (none? I don't know for certain) chance of having your console blocked or banned on PSN.
They all can be hardware hacked, but it depends what one your model version number is to work out what chip to buy, can people give an indication of what their ones are…?
I.e. 3xxxx or 4xxxx etc?

Reason you got one was that the price changed this afternoon. Once the price changed staff that wanted one grabbed one which is fair enough. Some stores began selling them at the clearance price because their system allowed them. Some stores may not have any stock to sell tomorrow when the sale officially begins. Should make interesting reading on Big Ws facebook page tomorrow.

hmm.. I was told there were 5 left in stock at FG when I went in there tonight and bought one around 8PM. The sales guy went out th eback and got it from the lockup cage and there was a lady and her teenage son standing next to me, the son's eyes nearly popped out of his head when he saw the PS3, so I'm guessing they were there also to buy one :)
PS: they were completely sold out of Wii bundles / consoles. It was an outright purchase, no layby. Iwas there buying LEGO for my daughter for Christmas.

I managed to grab a couple of Wii's from BigW Brisbane CBD last night. They were scanning for $74 already.
At the price it's cheaper to buy a second Wii than to get a second controller and you have a spare console.
I also grabbed a PS3. I know Calamvale had about 8-9 units left. If you get there at 8:30 this morning you may get lucky.
PS. I got a call back from Kmart saying they wont be price matching the PS3 I had put aside.
Apparently Kmart staff got a memo about the BigW clearance prices specifically on the PS3 and Wii and have been told not to price match it. More than likely Kmart will be doing a clearance sale soon I would guess.
Was so funny being at Calamvale this morning when the doors opened.
First everyone was moving at a normal pace, but then one person started sort of power walking and everyone followed. A few seconds later one guy started running and he won the race to the counter only to be told that there was no stock.
He was not happy and started abusing the poor girl behind the counter like it was somehow her fault. I think he was someone from here as he kept saying that online it shows 9 units in stock at Calamvale. As far as I'm aware the Big W website doesn't actually show a count of stock so I'm pretty sure he was going based on your message here :D
I went straight to the games while 50 other people lined up to ask about the PS3. The range of games was very small at only around 10-15 titles for each platform. I also scanned a bunch of games that weren't marked down and was able to find a couple more for $10 as well as one for $5. Ended up walking out with 9 games, though I'll probably return a few if my brother doesn't want them.

Got mine from layby no issue. Refunded my 1st payment minus the 2$ fee then purchased at 148$ too easy. The lady explained the $25 cancellation fee (which didn't occur) which was on the layby receipt was from a service they used to offer called Big W direct I think. It was a service where you could order something they didn't have in stock or carry and then if you didn't want to buy it they'd be stuck with it so they implemented that fee and never took it off I'm not sure how it ends up on the layby receipt but it wasn't an issue so Yay! Now I just need to wait for my HDMI female to DVI male adapter to arrive.

KMarts policy is to not match clearance stock, but persistence will pay off here.
Just keep going back and to different stores and you will get a staff member who doesn't care/know the about rules and let you have it.

Was it that there were no games marked at $10 or was the issue that even after scanning any games of interest that none came up at $10?
I've found plenty of them during their previous clearances that are still marked at their original price but scan at $10. Certainly worth scanning them to see first anyway.
all big w in SA had no stock available for ps3. i rang all the shops i can reach and all sold out cant believe. wt f is this. i bet there will another wave to clear all range of ps3 after ps4 released and i wont try bigw any more whatever price they put on the catelogue coz bigw is just a big lier.
