Excellent deals available. Just booked a flight in September from MEL <-> HBA.

  • Woo Hoo, who says the recession doesn't have an upside? I can see more and more of these types of deals coming along. On the flip side it does raise long term viability issues for the airlines.

  • As much as this is a good deal… I will never fly Tiger again until they have online check-in! It's just TOO PAINFUL to have to arrive at the garden shed of a terminal AN HOUR before your flight is supposed to leave. So much time wasted…

    • I also like their $5 "convenience fee" per passenger per flight sector for paying by credit card, which is the only payment method they seem to offer. This is the sort of rubbish the ACCC etc should stamp out. What is convenient about being forced to pay by credit card and paying an obscene amount for the privilege?

      • Via Webjet you can pay paypal etc..

I also like their $5 “convenience fee” per passenger per flight sector for paying by credit card, which is the only
payment method they seem to offer.

No, they also offer "Payment by Voucher".

But you can only get a Voucher if you have previously Cancelled a flight.

        So, legally, they are correct.

        Morally, they are bankrupt.

        • All airliners are dodgy in this aspect. They all have hidden fees and one can never get the advertised price. If they advertise a price, it should be available to general public by reasonable means.

It is a shame that they are allowed to get away with "Payment by Voucher does not attract a convenient fee, but you can't get a voucher".

@surm: You MORON! WTF is an AIRLINER, IT IS AIRLINE, gosh you should learn english before you immigrate to Australia.

  • I don't know about long term viability but in reality putting another person in an otherwise empty seat on a plane which is going to fly anyway isn't really costing the airline anything. Giving away "free" seats generates good will and repeat customers, it's not rocket science.

    • This sale is more of a attack sale towards Jetstar who is having their 5th Birthday mega sale in around 5 days time. Plus they made the front page of news.com.au plus various other news sites, so it must be viable

Some flights SYD-MEl are 25.16 AUD

Still pretty awesome deal if you want a weekend away… hell $50 return trip is probably cheaper than going out in the city and buying booze!

    • Not $50.

      It's $60.

There's an additional compulsory $5 Credit Card charge on all bookings.

ONE WAY from Melbourne to Sydney has plenty of seats for $30 on weekends in July, August & Sptember.

    HOWEVER:

Flying back from Melbourne back to Sydney has absolutely NOTHING for $30 for Sunday or Monday. The
    They cheapest is $60.

You must travel Melbourne to Sydney on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday to get a $30 seat.

In other words, take a day off from work.

    Not very viable!

The fares went on sale over 12hrs ago - there were plenty of weekend flights either way this morning ! :)

      • Yes, the weekend seats did sell very quickly. Lucky i managed to get one :)

  • An alternative is Virgin Blue - They are selling 1 way flights Melb->Syd and reverse for $52 inc taxes and booking fee.

    (Example - $31 Melb —>Syd on Tiger & $52 Syd —> Melb on VB = $41.50 each way - still damn cheap !
