Oh no, I just bought it last week. I wonder if HN would refund the price difference.

EDIT: They do have a Best Price Guarantee policy (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/customer-service/best-price-g…), so I hope they'll honour it. I just wonder if the refund has to be on the same credit card used to purchase it.

    • How is the camera quality?

      • Thank you! Bought this last Sat at Thomastown HN 6 days ago but can't get back to that HN until Wed. Spoke to the manager there not expecting much, and he said it was fine for me to come in through the week to collect my refund. Very impressed. Nice to see some decent customer service for once!

I bought the phone for $753 last Friday 25th. I went back to the Martin Place Sydney store where I picked the phone up from…they said there was no problem with a refund, however as I paid on the website I would need to apply for the refund through the website.

Have now sent HN Online an email and also contacted them through through the website. Hopefully the honour the 7 day price guarantee without giving me the runaround…

      cheers.

Well after speaking to HN Online, they have organised a $76 refund, which will be back in my PayPal account in 3-4 working days.

So thankyou for bringing this to my attention OP!! :)

      • I'll try and get the refund tomorrow then, which will be on the 7th day.

With regards to the camera quality, I haven't taken many photos with it yet but low light photos are bounds and leaps above my old iPhone 4S' camera.

        • Shouldn't be a hassle mate…I paid with PayPal 'pay later' and they have already confirmed the refund… :-)

  • Harvey Norman website says $792 this morning…

    • Yeah, it says $792 for me too. Hopefully the price gets updated this morning as OP says :)

      • Price was $833 last night…so it has been updated overnight…

Can someone brainwash me so I switch to LUMIA's series instead of Android or iPhone?
Sorry I am not talking specific to this model and great camera on Lumia 1020, but just Lumia in general.
What make people attracted to Nokia's phone?

    • +1

Well, and this is coming from someone whose last Nokia was a 6100 (polyphonic ring tones ftw), the build quality and I'm also attracted to the OS (also haven't used windows phone OS yet). I don't care about apps, I just want a phone which works well at what it's meant to do. I've also found I take quite a lot of photos on my phone and would really like a significantly better camera. I also gather Nokia's maps is a class above the rest (e.g. turn by turn, offline maps).

The N5 is very very tempting. However, I've never found the Android experience to be 100% complete feeling, and I'm concerned about its battery life and camera quality.

I like the look of the 5S as well, but in my view it's price is just way too high.

From the devices my kids (820) and I have, I can say that the Lumia range of phones are quite good quality.
I have a 920 which his a great device all around. One of the big selling factors was the durability and if you search on Youtube for this device and what people do to it with a knife, keys and rubber mullet it shows that they are also a lot less susceptible to breaking than an iPhone or some Androids. The devices have great battery life, wireless charging (820 with optional back plate) and comes with all the applications I would want in the base device without having to look in an app store. I would say that the apps on the Lumia devices set it apart from other Windows phone devices.
I like the live tiles where I know what emails have come in, what appointments I have without having to open any app. While simple and copied by others by now, it is an innovative way to see what is going on via the front screen.
On the photography and video side, the 920 is excellent, but it has been trumped by newer Nokia Lumia phones. I can take photos in darker environments which current iPhone and Android devices struggle in. Video recording with the stabilization technology is also quite good.
Another upside is the prompt upgrade to new operating systems or patches which is similar to what you experience with an iPhone, while also offering you a significant variety of handset and screen sizes, even just from Nokia, let alone other manufacturers.
While I didn't think I would have to use the ability to operate these phones with gloves (super sensitive touch turned on), I had to use my phone with a bandaid and it was still working while an iPhone it didn't register the finger.
The downside is that certain apps are not available as the development scene for this platform is in its infancy. In saying that, I haven't felt like I have missed out as I have never been one to download so many apps.
These phones also don't compete all that well in the "Specs race" as these devices are usually lower powered, but then they conserve battery power very well and in most instances they feel fast to the end user.

My summary on why I like mine:
It works really well as a phone, is fully featured out of the box when it comes to the apps I need, the build quality is good and it is a durable phone.

Another advantage is you can connect your phone to a pc via usb and it detects it as a removable drive so you can just click and drag over music, photos and files without the need for any extra software to be installed on the PC.

The ability to open and edit word, excel and powerpoint files on your phone is great if you're a business user, and no requirement for 3rd party apps to do this. Your MS Office work can be synchronised with the cloud for on the fly edits and usage from remote locations.

Here Maps is quite good, allowing you to download maps for Australia and other countries with complete offline usage. So if you're travelling overseas you can download the maps for that country before you get there.

The OS is incredibly responsive and fast, even with low specs relative to other phones. Whilst it's not as customisable as android (yet), it's a nice minimalist design that's extremely easy to navigate and multi-task with several apps open at the same time.

It's got an FM radio… if you need it.

        Battery life seems quite good.

The text prediction is amazing! Much better than IOS and android.

Price has been updated now. Now you can order online and use your $5 discount voucher if you have one.

  • hows the battery life on this one? i am looking to switch but saw a review last night which slammed this phone for being a 41megapixel camera but with last year specs phone.

    • +1

Apparently its got a good battery considering the hardware
      http://blog.gsmarena.com/the-nokia-lumia-1020-battery-test/

      • If you take a lot of photos you can also buy the Camera Grip attachment, which includes an extra battery. When you plug the phone in to charge with the Camera Grip attached, it charges both the battery in the phone and the battery in the Camera Grip at the same time…easy! :-)

  • Has anyone tried to get Good Guys to beat this price? http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/buyonline/content/Pay_Less?sou…

Was wondering how much they would beat it by as they sell it for $799
