The deal is already showing up on their website. I have called them yesterday and they have plenty of stock across Australia for the 16GB and 32GB, both Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi + cellular ones. 64GB has less stock and 128GB will only be available as click and collect. All colours should be plentiful. Quite a bit cheaper than buying from Apple themselves.

I'm lined up at the George Street Apple Store right now and I don't want to lose my place in line, but the line isn't very long. I don't think the demand for the iPad Air is very big so if you just stroll into Big W early today I think you'll be able to get one. Managed to hold one just now, it's like the reviews say - insanely light and feels amazing. No point in getting the Mini anymore.

Storage Wi-Fi Wi-Fi + cellular
16GB $568 $698
32GB $668 $798
64GB $768 $898
128GB $868 $998

Their website shows "Not Available" right now, but they do in fact have stock. Just walk in or phone up your local store and ask. A few people have already left the line here at George Street to buy from the nearby Big W in the Sydney CBD who have confirmed stock since last night.

EDIT: 64GB & 128GB are not in stock anywhere.

the dogs told me they have a price match policy when i challenged their refusal
then gave me some waffle that the price at bigw was bait as there is no stock

gave me some waffle that the price at bigw was bait as there is no stock

Did you tell them that was illegal and they should therefore report them to the ACCC ?

        • +1

Well the truth is Big W don't have any stock so it is a baiting tactic to get you in the store. It's common with places like them and Taget.

        • It's not illegal if the competitor can't supply the stock…

        • If you can prove they have the stock, it totally is.

        • What if they did have them in stock but sold them all since then?

        • +1

can you say the same about Apple stores themselves, who launches new products that sell out in hours, think of iphones, ipads etc! redicious isn't it?

          end of sarcasm

  • Can i get this from JB, get the $50 promo voucher, and turn around and use it to buy a smart case?

EDIT: Oops, 25% off, not $50 store credit. NVM

  • Is there any app that iPad Air can do but iPad 3 cannot?

    • +2

No, assuming they are both on the same version of iOS

    • +1

      NO

    • Yes. Infinity Blade 3 has much improved graphics on iPad air and Mini Retina only. Similar exclusive

      • No. Infinity blade 3 runs on the following devices:

        • iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S
        • iPod Touch 4th generation, 5th Generation
        • iPad 2, iPad 3rd Generation, iPad 4th Generation, iPad Air, iPad Mini, iPad Mini 2nd Generation

Graphics might be improved on the Air, but the iPad 3 is no slouch. They both have 1GB Ram.

        • Graphics might be improved on the Air, but the iPad 3 is no slouch. They both have 1GB Ram.

RAM has very little to do with graphics performance. iPad Air has a significantly better GPU (IMG’s PowerVR G6430) than the iPad 4.

  • Picked one up, my crappy BigW here in the sticks had 4 16gb wifi ONLY, and all in white, so I couldn't get a 'top-deck' (black and white/grey and white whatever the nomenclature is) pair this time around.

Man, it puts the 3 in the shade.

    • I couldn't believe how light it was when I first held it. It's truly incredible.

      • Yeah without wanting to evangelise too much, it's astonishing. Feels like it should be made of plastic and flimsy for its weight, but it absolutely isn't.

Will have to check Target Country (lol) and the local Mac1 store and grab another I think, my 3 feels very old now, lol.

    • Lucky you, none around these parts whatsoever.

bought one from glen waverley target, 16g wifi only in white for $549, rrp was $559, then used $10 voucher, which given away from shop door.

  • FWIW Officeworks QV has not received any stock of the Airs.

    • Dunno who negged you, wasn't me…

But I bought my white 16gbWi Fi iPad Air at 11:30 am from the BigW there.

Just got one from apple shop in Sydney CBD $996.55 128gb cellular. Competitor price match. Sweet.

    • +1

The one in George St ? Who did you price match against ?

      • That's the Big W price.

I bought my ipad air in apple store last night,Wifi Silver 128gb $817.27, kind of 10%off, am i the lucky one?

  • Now, where to get a iPad Air shield and cover?

  • Anyone got an ad/receipt for the cellular models? Can't find it online. Looking to do a price match at the Apple Store. Cheers

  • I got $23.00 off my 64g wifi at JB with a slight haggle. Worth it to not have to traipse to a Big W on a Saturday.

  • Managed to get TGG to price match BigW on a 32GB cellular - even though BigW had no stock. They just rung to check it was a valid price - all good :)

  • Just went to Chemside Apple Store, bought an ipad air wifi+cellular 128 gb silver for $1,049 and the manager of the store refuse to price match with Big W.

  • 16GB seems to be all sold out? Is it worth asking instore or just waiting for the friday apple sale?
