Hi All,

Not sure if this is a pricing error or not, but you can get the new Pentax k-3 with the DA Limited 18-135mm lens from digiDIRECT for $1599.

If you wanted to order this same setup from Teds or from pentax.com.au, then it would cost $1799. Links:

  • Isn't this grey import?

  • +1

You will still get the same warranty from CR if you buy from Digi Direct or any other Australian seller so long as it's Australian stock and not grey import. I believe this one is not grey(?).

You're right. I stand corrected. DigiDirect is a CR Reseller within Australia.
That makes this an amazing deal then :D

      • As far as I know Digidirect is aussie stock :D

  • With this WR setup, safe to carry it to the beach? I mean the danger of sands particles not water.

    • Yup, WR is safe from sand. Just dont drop it lens first. WR doesnt mean unscratchable/unbreakable

But like Kai from Digitalrev said ITS A PENTAX…..
But again you could be a Lok C…..

This is a good deal for Australian stock and these guys are very helpful, Matt and Tony in particular. Avoid talking to Stephen, typical Asian sales and will try to sell you anything that moves when he knows jack shit.

One more thing the setup weights about 1.3 kg. if you are like me who is use to shoot in M43 with find it quite heavy. Wouldn't be a big problem if you are prepared for the average DSLR though.

If you want a K-3 now, grab it. It is a very good price at the moment.
If you can wait probably till next year Black Friday and Chrismas time, then I would hold off.

What I really like about this deal is that you're getting a K-3 with a good travel WR lens, and both with Pentax Australia warranty.

    • Yeah great combo for travelling. A little bit heavy, as others have pointed out, but only slightly more so than other cameras in this range. I prefer going Pentax because of weather sealing and durability. This combo can go travelling, but I'd prefer to take pancake lenses on a mountain biking or skiing holiday.

      • How do you swap your primes ? I found it quite time consuming, awkward and prone to dust landing on the sensor.
I have 16-50 2.8 and 50-135 2.8, and sometimes I still struggle, esp. in windy and dusty environment.

I would say weight is pretty much the same as competitors gear (OR even less). Have you ever tried Canon L lenses ?
Excellent lenses but the weight is just overwhelming.

  • I just noticed that Camera Warehouse have a fairly similar deal for this combo, but it includes a 8gb flu card: http://www.camera-warehouse.com.au/pentax-k-3-18-135mm-wr-le…

    • … with Pentax Australia warranty ?

      • Looks like it. From their warranty section:
The Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera and Pentax Lens 18-135mm WR both come with 12 months Australian Warranty from CR Kennedy Australia.
Our products are sourced from authorised Australian suppliers and therefore come with genuine Australian warranty.
Camera Warehouse does not participate in 'Grey Market' or 'Parallel Import' activities.
