  • Good but charging every 3 days gets annoying, pebble lasts 5-7 days for me. Still annoying :)

    • Just charge it at the same time as your phone - not like phones will last any longer these days.

      Why isn't induction charging getting more common?
      I want my whole desk to be a giant induction charger and I simply place my laptop, phone, smartwatch, tablet, cordless mouse, bluetooh speakers, electric toothbrush etc on it and it will charge automatically

        You need to line up the coil in your phone with the coil in your charger. It can be a pain in the arse. There are ways around this, but I haven't seen anyone do it yet.

        For an inductive charging desk with 100% coverage you would need thousands of dollars worth of copper and work to make and install all of the overlapping induction coils.
        You would need to glue the coils to the top of the desk to reduce wasted energy. This means you would be stuck with a plastic desk top.
        You would need a complicated control system to make sure that only coils charging something are active (otherwise you will be wasting a lot of energy, but considering how much this desk is costing you, you may not care).

        There are a few more points to consider, but this could be a viable super luxury item.

      • I believe you can DIY solder a Qi charging pad (for galaxy S) to the +/- of your unsupported phone & you can then use the Qi induction charger.

    If you can wait till Jan '14, Kreyos is the best.

    • Whats the battery like?, with speaker and mic cant imagine it will be too long.

      • You cant use it to talk so there is no mic. If you want one that you can talk, then the Galaxy Gear or the Italian "I'm Watch" is the only way to go.

        • ehh… looking at the web site it says you can.. and claims 7 days battery life..

    • yea i hope they deliver the item on time before Christmas… :D

  • This Analog watch with LED alert notifications on kickstarter looks interesting.

    • People look Singaporean. God that background music can drive you nuts though.

      • LOL yeah I had to mute it after a minute.

        It does look interesting, but the page seems to be rather poorly designed with obvious typos and all that. I know it doesn't matter, but in this day and age where looks and detail is everything, a sub-standard website can kinda be a turn off.

    Hello…..Is that Ron Jeremy?

    • If Ron Jeremy is a Greek, instrumental musician, then yes - that's Ron Jeremy.

  • I put my money in hot watch. But only receiving it in December. I think it's better value than this though.

  • Man this thing is like ~$130 in Japan. I thought it was pretty good though, the vibration strength was quite strong and it had a 'Line' app extension so this would be a cool communication accessory.

    The thought of charging the watch tires me. As if laptop, tab and phone aren't enough.

  • How much does Kogan normally charge for shipping?

    When it first released, it was $149 + shipping. Trying to figure out if this is actually cheaper than it was when first put up on their store.

    • They normally charge around $25 for postage on the smartwatch 2.

  • I hope they use a different charging mechanism than their original SW1.Takes me about ten goes to get it to charge before given the contacts and the cable/clip dont align properly. The smallest knock will misalign it and have to do it all over again.

    • Charges via micro usb and no major issues plugging it in. The waterproof flap is a little hard to remove unless you have longer fingernails.

      • Well.. at least they standardised on mUSB - the old one had a custom USB to 4 pin clip that was awful. Anyway, I'm happy with my Galaxy Gear now with ability to talk into it just like a BT headset when you are driving or away from your desk.

        • How far does the watch have to be from your mouth for your recipient to hear you? Can your hands be in their natural position? Also, how do you hear the person you're talking to? Does it have to be held up to your ear?

          If so, this is going to look stupid.

        • You can do it one of two ways - set the volume to low (1 or 2) and have the speaker next to your ear. This ensures a level of privacy. Set it higher and it will be like a speaker phone. The MIC pickup is not bad and depends on the background noise - but a moderate area you can still talk comfortably about 30cm away.

  • I bought it from kogan when it was first released. Buyer beware as kogan are dodgy as they claim there is stock and delay your order by 3-4 weeks.
    But I finally got the watch and I'm happy with it. 3-4 days battery is good by me.
    Best app for it is WatchIt.

    Ill wait till Apple bring theirs out

    • They already did. It was call ipod nano 6th gen.

    • +1

      Well I imagine that Apple's watch will only interface with Apple phones? If that's the case, then wouldn't it depend on what phone you have? If I got Apple's version it would be nothing more than a paperweight since my phone is Android.

      Also, if I'm to guess Apple's pricing it will probably be more than $300.

  • I'm interested, but what are some things you would want to be able to do with this watch?

    I mean, besides telling the time what are some real world applications for having a smart watch?

    I want to listen to audio via bluetooth headset, and be able to control the audio player without whipping out the phone every time. I presume I can do this with the watch?

    Other than that, what other interesting uses are there for it?

    • If pomegranate made a smart watch, it would include:
      * portable shaver
      * projector
      * coffee machine
      * voice translator
      * harmonica

      Ive had a Pebble for a few months, and have the KreyOs on order.

      While it has taken a bit of getting used to wearing a watch again after so many years (of using my phone for time) I have found wearing a smartwatch to be very useful.

      • I dont carry my phone around the house with me. Typically I get home, put on the nearest table/bench/desk, and forget about it. Now I can be in the lounge watching TV, or raiding the fridge, or dropping some friends off at the pool, and I can instantly see (and read) any incoming texts/emails or if someone is phoning me.

      • I no longer miss phone calls when my phone is in my pocket and I cant hear it ringing/vibrating

      • most importantly, when I hear an alert from my phone, I dont feel the overwhelming need to dig my phone out of my pocket, unlock it, only to find it was nothing important and could have waited till later (such as newsletter emails) - a quick glance lets me know if its worth getting my phone.

      • I am unlikely to get pulled over by a copper for glancing at my watch (even if it was to read a text message)

      • Those are some interesting use cases. It sounds mostly like a convenience that can save you the bother of pulling your phone out. A big price for convenience however, though there is merit to it, especially if you're at work and your boss hates you playing with the phone.

        How far away can the watch and phone be separated whilst still maintaining connection?

        I no longer miss phone calls when my phone is in my pocket and I cant hear it ringing/vibrating

        How does the watch tell you it's ringing? Does it vibrate or have its own ring tone?

        • How far away can the watch and phone be separated whilst still maintaining connection?

          It's about 10-15m or so.

          How does the watch tell you it's ringing? Does it vibrate or have its own ring tone?

          Vibrates.

        • Eh.. my watch is always loose, because my wrist needs to breathe and I don't want the watch to get sweaty. I may not feel the vibration.

        • Most of the time you would feel it… its got a decent vibrate function.. and no matter how loose you wear it some part of the watch/strap would be touching skin.

        • I suppose you could strap it to your other appendages for stealth/etc.

        • But then you wouldn't be able to read what's on the screen without being looked at funnily. Just put your phone in your underpants.

      • @systmworks: you sure kreyos will be better than pebble?

        • Not until I receive it, but the glass face (instead of plastic) and the "speakerwatch" capability seems better or at least worth a go….

        • what about the epaper display on pebble i think its good we can read it easily under the sun

        • They Kreyos uses the exact same 1.26" 144x168 display (made by SHARP from memory)

          From the Kreyos update page:
          "The Kreyos Meteor uses Sharp's Memory LCD, which is one of the best LCDs that's available in the market. Pebble, Agent and Nike's GPS watch are all also using the same LCD. We will do a better job when filming the next video."

  • Ah damn thought this was another one of those fitness bands ive been looking into
