  • Good deal. Wonder if it can take more than 2Gb, e.g. 4 x 1TB drives or 4 x 2tb drives.

    • 4 x 1TB are supported, apparently.

  • great price!
    especially with built in wireless!

  • What brand drives in this?

    • +2

According to someone on whirlpool who bought one in January, they are Seagate drives - ST3500820AS – 8MB cache version.

  • oh it has a Gigabit port, oh … if only i could justify another 2TB!!!

  • Is there still cashback for this drive?

  • great price for a 4-bay NAS, with drives

  • apparently this thing only writes at around 10MB/s and reads at 15MB/s or so off a gigabit switch so even though its gigabit its far from being fast! Still a good deal but i think should be wary that this is not a top end NAS!

    • You only need to look at the price to realise that!

    • sorry the quoted read/write is during RAID5 which is usually a bit more intense, the single drive write speeds are alot more impressive, usually toppping out at 40MB/s for reading and 25MB/s writing

  • Assuming that they are ST3500820AS drives, is this one of the drives affected by the Seagate firmware bugs which can cause us to lose data unexpectedly.

    • I think only the 7200.11 and i read somewhere they were 7200.10, then they shouldn't be affected by this problem!

  • MSY - 500G Segate HDD - $82 x4 = $328

So pretty much this is cheap.

Can easily sell the HDD"s for $50 each.

But then DO NOT GET THIS IF YOU WANT SPEED!

    • As far as speed goes, I've never really gotten much over 80mbs between connected PCs at gigabit LAN, so I'm resigned to not see decent speeds on any ethernet ever. get eSata if you want speed.

  • Great deal. Order placed.. Hope they have stock

  • stock down to 39 units, from 55 units 2 hrs ago

  • Placed order for PU (Bris) about hour and a half ago and just got email stating:
"Thank you for placing an order with Harris Technology,
The location you have requested for pick up is currently out of stock of the items you have ordered and are now on a transfer from our distribution centre.

The ETA for the order to be available to pickup is around next Wednesday/Thursday."

At least they didn't say I couldn't get it, just have to wait a week.

  • not big enough to store all the pornos

Lots of bad feedback for this unit, not sure if I should take the plunge.. price is very tempting so +ve from me.

  • I'm in.

It'll help stop the kids whining about the lack of capacity on their individual machines. They can stash their 'non-essential' rubbish and perhaps cut down on having multiple copies of photos etc.

No messages yet about stock needing to be moved about…

…AND NOW I'M OUT. Two hours after ordering (with plenty of stock meant to be available) I get a phone call…

Looks like the 'T' in 'HT' doesn't extend to their website. Dellitis (or should that be #dellfail) is spreading? #htfail?

  • At the shop in North Ryde, Sydney, they said they're having 38 units in stock at the warehouse. 5 sold today only by noon. Should be getting one next week or so.
Not probably a lightning fast nor top notch nas, but price ain't bad. Maybe hacking the sw won't hurt either.
Thought about diy freenas but why not try this one out first ;O)

  • Just ordered one, hopefully it'll be good.

  • SOLD OUT!!!

  • Website now says sold out. My order made it though and got shipped!

  • Website site shows sold out, interesting they sold 38 units in the last hour and 26mins…hmmMmmmm

  • Damn, i was going to order one when i get back home from work tonight. Oh well, bad luck i suppose. I prefer WD ShareSpace anyway, so may get that instead.

  • I was given a call over an hour after I ordered, and was told it was sold out,
it wasn't sold out when I ordered.

  • I called seconds before I hit submit and was told (after checking if it was being delivered) that there were 35 in stock.

    Got this email at 4:30pm

Thank you for placing an order with Harris Technology,

The Acer EasyStore 2TB Wireless NAS Drive you have ordered has sold out and there are no more available.

    We apologise for the inconvenience

Please do not hesitate to call if I can be of any further assistance

  • Seems a little dodgy to me HT, please explain.

Thats the same thing that just happened to me. When i placed the order it was after i made a call and also when i checked the website it showed the stock left over and then later on that day i am told that they were out of stock.!!!! This is complete BS!

  • Hope this doesn't turn into another MX Revolution

It pretty much has i reckon. Am very disappointed with Harris Tech, i didnt think they were like this. You know the crazy part the daily specials sites seem to have better customer service. If you order it you get the item, and once the item is out of stock then you cant place any orders anymore. I made other purchases because of this purchase, not from harris but i made other purchases from other stores in response to me thinking i have purchased a NAS drive.

  • I ordered mine on the North Ryde store, when stock levels were about 40-50.

I called them up this morning and item will be delivered today. They gave me the tracking number so I can follow it up with the courier.

  • Yes, I'm not very impressed too

  • I think the way their ordering works is that the online order can be placed, but if you collect the item (or just purchase instore) then you can have it straight away. If you place online, then when they go to fill it, if they have no stock (because someone came in to buy it) then you miss out.

    I could be wrong though.

  • You know i think that their ordering system must work in some really dumb manner. Because the whole first in first served policy doesnt add up since i know that my order actually did update the stock levels in realtime. I saw the stock levels drop by exactly the no. i ordered. So it must be like you said, that people dropping in or maybe phone orders come before online purchases but thats not fair. Otherwise why even bother having online purchasing. All i know is the guy only got back to me abotu 4:30pm while i ordered mine at about 1pm or so, so if they had done the processing right away it all would have been fine. This is just not fair or right.

  • My Friend Ordered one of these, and I received it before 9.30am this morning.
There was some problem with their customer service, bcos online purchase Delivery fee is $10, but customer service wanted her to pay $27. This is a good Deal. Hope another one will come around soon for people that missed out.

  • Well I picked mine up today. Looks like they had 3 of them at the Fyshwick store. But they would all have been ordered and shipped in from Sydney, because they didn't have them last week.

ht.com.au One word, unreliable, they should crawl back into the hole they came from and stick to whatever they were doing before like filling in space and leave online ordering to the pro's.
