I've just bought one from the good guys online.
The price is the cheapest Australian stock I could find for Core i5 tablet this size and calibre. So I thought I'd share this with my fellow OzBargainers!

FHD LED screen is fantastically vivid and I love the S Pen which is included with the tablet(a proper digitised pen).Since it is running on a full Windows 8, a few reviews say you can use Wacom pen and oher sketch-book software which work really well with this tablet. The reponse is amazing, no lags at all. The included keyboard is handy when I need to type long emails. I'm loving it!

Key Features;

11.6" FHD LED Display (1920 x 1080)
Intel Core i5 Processor 3337U 1.8GHz CPU boost upto 2.7 GHz

  • The 64GB model $599 at DSE so see whether worth the extra for 128 SSD.

With the 64GB model, you got very little space to play with after windows 8 is installed hahaha

I've got one of these and i can say that its pretty good!

      Problems i have:

The keyboard is light - What this means is that when you attach it to the tablet, a slight bump will cause it to fall which is quite annoying =/

edit: what i mean by this is if you are putting it on the table (side view of the tablet would look something like this _/) and you tap the tablet, the thing will fall down backwards… i hope this makes sense LOL!

Keyboard doesn't provide any additional power - though the battery itself is decent, it would have been good to have some more juice if you connect it to something as large as the keyboard lol.

If you are thinking of playing games on this - I play dota 2 and if i turn everything down (graphics lowest with less than 720P), i get around 30-40fps so i usually just use it to watch replays.

It can get pretty damn hot where the fan is at the top if you plan to do anything that requires processing power!

Other than this, its very light, pretty damn awesome because it runs full windows eight with an impressive i5 processor. Doing basic things on it is super quick because of the SSD as well.

pity it doesn't have battery in keyboard, otherwise won't have weight balance problem and have fantastic running time.

The heat should be a problem although my one year old Slate7 (i3) still running fine, but it's damn hot even playing 720P.

        very good price anyway.

    • 64 gb model has a slightly worse CPU as well

    • Windows 8 is a space killer. It takes around half of the 64gb ssd. After putting on programs, like Office+Whatever you need, you won't have much space left. If you're only using it for documents, then yes, the MicroSDXC is enough to cover it, but if you install more programs on it, then 128gb might be more ideal.

      • +1

To be blunt, at least it has a microsd port to expand your memory unlike the iCrap everyone buys.

        • +1

Google agreed and removed the microsd from nexus products

        • +1

I'm not quite sure what that has to do with the price of fish.

  • +1

Maybe not the cheapest for a Core i5. Specs look very similar to the Acer W700, currently $699 at Online Computer: http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i…

  • Nice specs. But at 0.9kg its a bit heavy for a handheld, isn't it?
Might as well leave the keyboard attached and call it a laptop.
That's a good price for an ultralight laptop.

Anybody used these win-8 tablets? How useful is the form-factor?

  • How does this compare with the Surface Pro for Windows gaming?

    • +1
      • Damn it. Now I'm really tempted!

        • I know, they got my money already. I picked Samsung over Microsft is becuase it comes with the keyboard and battery lasts longer.

        • Looks to me like the Sammy gives you more package per dollar, which seems to be the ozbargain mantra for most.

      • but just wanted to point out that surface pro 2 is much better

        • I'm sure it is, but for a healthy price bump too.

I would like something to replace my 2009 15" Macbook Pro for travelling that has a FHD screen, can play Civ5, transcode and edit HD video, and has a wacom digitizer for notes + design. This Sammy fits the bill.

I'll still hold off for now, but for my use I don't see the point in having more CPU power or battery life if it's disproportionate to the price.

        • Sure thing.. Pro 2 is better, but you gotta pay more for it!

        • Yeh I'm tempted as well, around a $400 price different - obviously there are advantages and disadvantages. But this Ativ actually has a bigger screen too! so a bit conflicted.

    Yuck no Haswell.

    • +2

      Yuck no Nano technology CPU.

      • CPU? It's all about cloud processing and surveillance now.

  • How well would it run Starcraft 2 or sim city? Would the DSE one run it just as well?

    • Both have essentially the same processor. Just the HDD space, Screen resolution (This one is FULL HD) and form factor is different. This one is black and other one is ice blue (all the ones that I have seen).

I have owned both (64GB and 128 GB versions) over the period of last 6 months and would recommend this one over the 64GB version, considering Microsoft's strategy to keep pushing out updates every now and then. The only thing I would have wanted is one of the USB port be 3.0.

    • Ive read that this actually performs better than the acer one regardless of similar specs… not too sure why though =/

Edit: nevermind i thought you were talking about the acer one hahaha!

I remember seeing a video on youtube with them running SC2 with this machine, its not the best but also not the worst!

I play SIM city on it completely fine (i actually have a 64GB micro SD card which i put steam/origin on to save space). Sim city rocks!

      • Interesting - the MS Surface Pro and the Acer W700 were the Editors' Choice picks, ahead of the Samsung. Notably, the Acer got 24% better battery life than the Samsung.

        • Yes, it's interesting. However, I personally will not pay Microsoft price and I refuse to carry Acer W700 out in the public, it looks hideous.

  • Actually windows 8 installation on a tablet is around 14gb I have acer 64gb left with 50gb straight from started loading it first time.

$708.7 at OW after 5% off.

    • I don't think OW stock this model, link?

        • The Reviews tab for that item has some very unhappy comments about Samsung LCD display quality - only one user, but three faulty units!

        • Be mindful that OW stock a different model, OW stock XE700T1C-A02AU. The good guys stock XE700T1C-K01AU. K01AU was a second updated with a faster CPU.

  • Loving the fact this type of tech is going the exact direction I want and getting cheap fast :). I'm giving this gen a pass, but might jump the hybrid bandwagon next gen when hopefully they're a bit more powerful. Waiting for Asus to make a nice beastly hybrid with a capacitive stylus.

  • ooopsy

  • Called OW. They said they don't match b/c TGG say "XE700T1C-K01AU" while OW says "XE700T1C-A02AU-K01AU" on the their website. Anything that can be done? The product is identical.

    • I believe the CPU is slightly different.

      OW's one is 3317u
      TGG is 3337u

    • Hmm..Perhaps you could try the store in person. Although, getting 5% off but you get a lower spec CPU. See if it's worth it.

    • this is a newer release that fixed faults with the dock OW must have all the old stock

  • +1

This is a little cheaper than the deal I got, but I still think it was worth it.
My only nag is that the touchpad is slightly sensitive.
I'm using mine right now at work with Windows 8.1 and Office 2010 installed. 128GB is more than enough space. At lunchtime I just undock it and take the tablet half with me to read etc.

    • Very nice.., that's exactly how I will be using it most of the time. Join 21st Century and be mobile! lol

  • This is full review:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-lqd38myN4

It has a problem where keyboard dock constantly disconnect if you try to bend the screen, check it here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=W-l…

    • But I don't see that's problem, most people are not typing while trying to bend the screen anyway.

  • Is this tablet any good for gaming?

  • Found this on Youtube, the guy was reviewing this model, then he did a scratch test using a pen knife and bunch of keys. Not a scratch…thanks to Corning Gorilla Glass!

  • Got one myself at Gepps Cross. Impressed so far

    • Very nice, did you manage to get any further discount?

      • Got the price down to $730

        • Well done sir, a true Ozbargainer spirit!

  • Great device I paid 1269$ 9 months ago

  • Have been looking for a good price like this as a PC replacement for the missus so I bought one, just in time for her birthday :D

    • Well What a downer…

They ring me this morning and what do you know, they are sending me a Display model :/
He told me its in perfect condition but I feel like ive bought second hand…

      Should I have said no?

      • Display model? should've tried to haggle it down :)

        • Already paid for it :(

        • perhaps, ring up customer service number and ask them to check a brand new stock from a different store. GG usually goes through their system and find the closet stock to your delivery address, they then put through an order with that store. I'm pretty you can call GG custoemr service and tell tehm that you've got a call from the store and turned out to be a display model, ask them if they can source a band new stock for you from other stores near by. Although i think there is not much stock left now, as this is a clearance item. Good luck AMLagonda.

  • OW Milton price matched for me, $706.80 inc. The stock they had on display was the slower CPU model, but the stock out the back was exactly what good guys were advertising.

    • Good on ya, K01AU is a improved version of A02AU. A02AU seems to have issue with docking of the keyboard but Samsung relaunched K01AU and eliminated the issue.

  • I hope you guys got one, they're sold out!

  • Anyone got one in there hand yet? (delivered)

Mine seems to be sitting somewhere not getting delivered to me, I guess I might have to ring them, they promised me 2 days.

    • still waiting on mine it was being sent from Darwin but that's no excuse why it hasn't arrived

  • Ah I got mine the day after I emailed them and wrote this lol funny that.

And I didnt friggen get a Invoice!!! now how can I get one.
