You can import the shares I think but you can always call them to see how it would work.
You can transfer the CHESS holding. It's free and pretty painless
Is there a way of telling if the code has been applied by looking at your account, or does it only become apparent when you make a trade?
It should have it in your account details section. Also when you submit the coupon in the form on registration it should let you know.

I opened an account in September so my 20 free trades expired today (only used 9 of them), however when you do a trade it adds the $14.95 fee to the amount, it's only when you get the confirmation of the trade you see they didn't actually add it on.
It's actually a PITA because you have to make sure you have $15 more in your trading account than you need or the order is denied due to insufficient funds (took a while for me to work this out).
If I make a trade on Monday it will be the first indication that my free trades have expired, there was nothing on my account saying I had free trades owing.
"Your free trades should be visible on your profile under the Total Wealth>Personals Details page."
