    Tempted. Very tempted.

    • Same. Only thing stopping me is Nintendo not taking online very seriously. You can't download games with the internal storage on either model (8GB or 32GB). A bluray disc is up to 50GB.

Some will say, but it supports external HDDs. Well, it only supports USB 2.0, and externals are way slower than internals.

I got my PS4 shipped this morning from Amazon. I'm going to throw in a 480GB SSD.

  • -7

Limited to one store I would say - unless someone can confirm otherwise.

    • +1

Thats why target merrylands is in the title

      • +6

Well description also states 'should be nationwide?'. Merrylands is also a criminal-infested suburb - buy the Wii from Target, and you'll get mugged before reaching your car. So how is this a bargain again?

        • -1

          Store location is irrelevent.

If you are scared of that suburb don't go.

        • Just gave a plus cause I laughed. But seriously been to Merrylands and its pleasant to shop there since they renovated Stocklands. They have kmart, target, big w, jb hifi in the same building so pretty pleased.

  • Wow, at that price I'd rate it above the DSE deal with all the additional inclusions this bundle has.

As mentioned above, space isn't so much of an issue if you hook a hard drive up - something I suspect most Premium pack owners will end up having to do eventually as well.

    • This is indeed better value than DSE's premium bundle for $214. For an extra $15, you get just dance 2014 and wii remote plus but 24gb less.

Just to provide a bit of perspective, ac3 (21gb) and wii fit are a combined 25gb downloads from nintendo's eshop so you're right that owners of the premium bundle will likely find themselves connecting an external hdd very early on, especially with some of the good sales on eshop recently.

I am loving the full backwards compatibility of the wii u as I never owned a wii (Nintendo skeptic). Wii has a lot of very good games.

  • Bah, if only it came in Black!!

    • it does

    • +1

The black version is the more expensive premium version, which you won't get for this price.

  • Great buy with Mario 3D Land coming out this month, pity is basically nothing coming out in 2014 for wiiu except smash brothers and mario kart next xmas :/

  • This was a typo from the guys who make the marketing at Target head office, should be $299 as on their website. If you see it posted in a store they'll have to honour it, but if they've taken it down you may be out of luck.

    http://shop.target.com.au/p/nintendo-wii-u-basic-pack/528332…

The extra stuff it comes with (Two games, sensor bar and controller) are part of an incentive from Nintendo to clear out the basic models. It should be available at all retailers with the basic bundle at no extra cost.

    • Typo?… or a lame excuse to get more people in their doors for Christmas shopping?..

      • Supposedly typo, form what I was told it's only on the signs up in store (not advertised outside of stores to get people in) and they must honour the deal if it has been left up.

  • Nice price, shame there are no games for it. This thing was delivered stillborn

  • Looks great for those that live near the store.

But as someone who lives in Brisbane, is there anything I can do with this deal? I can I get a deal similar to this anywhere in Brisbane?

    Thanks

    • +1

Try taking this post to target and show them the picture. I was speaking to a store manager in EB this morning and he said that EB has the same deal. No harm trying them as well.

      • Thank you, I will try… The worst they can do is beat me senseless right?

        • +1

Ha ha…And risk losing your return business? just shake your platinum credit card at them before they land any blows. As a side note, merrylands target had three of these signs up, two of them showing $229 and one in a cabinet showing $299.

        • You are a genius, or you've inspired me.

I'll grab a trolley, put lots of stuff in, ask for this price, they'll see I'm a great customer so they'll give me that price and then I'll walk away from the trolley claiming it wasn't mine.

        • photo of sign… if u can?plz

        • It's at top of page

        • +1

That's a whole new level of creativity! You're a born entrepreneur my friend :)

  • +2

Price matched in Brisbane, take a try at your local Targets and Kmarts.

  • +1

I'm in a totally different state -Victoria, Ballarat. And with the power of OzBargain I was able to obtain this deal for $299. Thank you OP for posting this with a clear picture, I just showed the young gentleman the picture on my phone (trying to hide the ozb url lol) and her did the math to get it down to the awesome price.

    • +2

      $299?

You gave them a $70 tip!?

    • +1

Good to hear that, a few more smiling kids (and adults) this Christmas :)

    • Edit $229 lol

  • -1

    Can anyone up a receipt?

    Edit/ Denied in my local.

    • Got one at EB - Win!

      • yay! :) welcome to the club

I have never been able to price match these errors at EB. EB calls up Target to check real price.

Also, since we both own 3DS XL and wii u consoles, see if there are cool software on the wii u that you could link play up with 3ds xl. I am giving mine to my sister as a present, so I can't check it right now! :) Please remember to provide your findings!

        • +2

I think I got a bad ass bargain, lol

Wii U, Wii Motion Plus (Luigi Special Edition) LoZ WindWaker, NintendoLand, MH3U - $239

Think the new manager may have gotten himself a little mixed up there somewhere :)

        • +1

          That is unbelievable! Congratulations!

But I feel bad for the manager…it is xmas season so its quite stressful having to serve lines of customers.

        • +1

I think I got a bad ass bargain, lol

Wow, you lucky bum! That'd be worth at least $400.

Can you post receipt please? Wanna try my luck. It is the silly season after all! :P

        • +1

Nope, sorry if I post the receipt the manager will get in a heap of crap I think. Unless I could cover the store name, manager, cc details etc. Not sure what you could do with it though once they are all gone.

        • +1

KK, don't want someone losing their job during the holiday season stuck in my conscience. No worries then. I tried didn't I? ;)

        • +1

Lucky 3rd attempt huh. Congrats! You've earned it because you didn't give up. Hope the store manager is ok. It is EB game right?

        • Yep, EB and cheers. A deal worth waiting for.

Found that the Wii U Sports Club software is free on eShop. Not sure if this is always like this or is freemium software as its still downloading.
Also Wii Fit U has a 31 day trial (works with old balance board if you have one)

        • I downloaded both of those a couple of days ago - Wii U Sports club is just a HD version of the original Wii Sports with an online mode and it's free for 24 hours from when you first open it. After that I thinks it's about $12-13 per sport to unlock it for good.

The mini games in Wii Fit U are a lot more fun than the first Wii Fit's exercises.

        • If you buy the FitU Meter device ($30 EB/JB) you can unlock that trial to full game with it.

  • -2

Tempted to grab one, but no Wii-U mode softmods yet…the day Wii-U isos can be run from HDD will be awhile yet. Wait, wait, wait…

    • Please don't ever join the Wii U community.

      • +1

Sorry to disappoint, but I've decided I'm getting one.

        • +2

Gave you a plus for deciding to buy one but please buy games for it (even if and when you soft mod it).

        • Definitely! Support devs & we all benefit by getting more + better quality games. It's the cycle of gaming.

No games = no gamers = boring life.

  • +1

Secured deal via the attached picture at Target Marion, SA. Many thanks OP!

  • Rejected at Target Hoppers Crossing :(

    • Declined at Target Point Cook as well. The rep said that they have been made aware of the typo and since it was done at a different branch, they didn't have to honour it.

  • Masternoob, which Brisbane store did you pricematch at?

    • Target, Chermside.

  • +2

I got mine today at Target in Carindale, QLD.

I printed this off and showed them, it took a little while for it go through as the system didn't seem to want to discount it by a further $70 but they were nice about it and it went through.

Thanks OP for the heads up, now leaving the update run over night. Bloody controller didn't work well in Nintendo Land, I hope an update fixes it.

    • Controller worked fine for me, I used Zelda WindWaker disc to update the console before playing it, there was still another update on there afterwards though when I went to go online.

Enjoying NintendoLand with the family, we pulled out some spare Wiimotes from the old Wii and were playing Mario Chase and Zelda Battle 4 player, lots of laughs.

    • Where did you say you sourced the picture from?

      • A bargain website, stating straight away it was for another Target store in NSW, Merrylands. They didn't hesitate to help, they just had difficulty with the till.

  • Target Fulham Gardens, SA will accept the $229 with proof of photo

  • Anyone had any luck in WA?

    • Can confirm success in WA. I went to Target Innaloo last night and one of the store managers was aware that they HAD to honour this deal. That being said, they did not have any Basic units left so I struck a deal for a Premium + Sonic Lost World for $310. Needless to say I'm very happy with that outcome.

      • Thanks. I'm more interested in the basic bundle though.

  • I've spent most of my time installing bloody updates!

  • So tempting, but the only game on Wii U that interests me is Wonderful 101 and Earthbound on the Virtual Console. I'll probably give if I can get it at this price. Has anyone gotten it at 229 at Wetherill Park or Liverpool?

  • anyone manage to get seal the deal in Victoria?

  • brimbank central wouldnt honour this, but they did have some 3ds xl combo for $229..

  • Penrith Target still have the $229 sign up in store as of 12.30pm today when I bought mine :)

  • +1

I just tried Target Ringwood, and they wouldn't honour it. It's a bit awkward to explain it: "I, uh, saw a picture of a sign from a Target in another state on the internet. Can you please sell it for that price?". I might try another store, but I'm not sure what the best method for success is.

Edit: I've now tried Knox, Chirnside Park and Forest Hill as well, and none have the poster up in store. Therefore they are not willing to honour it. Bummer.

Edit again: Apparently all stores were called around midday today and told to take down the signs. I missed it by only a few hours… I should have tried yesterday. Very, very lame.

    • Thanks Hayden120, I will mark this as expired then. For those who missed out, give EB a try. No harm asking.

    • +2

      Aww

      • Bought one anyway.

        • For $229 or $299?

        • $299, but I showed him the picture and he told me to go to the Target that had it at that price. He seemed a little confused but I was a little nervous and I think he thought I was a crook.

  • Just got this for $229 at Target Doncaster for you guys in Melbourne.

Still had the sign up and everything, so when it scanned for 299 just shown him the sign and mentioned nothing, fixed it up for me.

    Bargain!!!

    • Did he take the sign down afterwards?

      • Was this Doncaster westfield target? I was there later that day and i believe the sign was taken down. I bought the last one for 299.

  • Grabbed one today for $229 at Strathpine, QLD. No good at Chermside or Toombul (signs taken down or changed to $299). Didn't have any of the 'bundle packs' so the girls just scanned in WiiU Basic console, separate Just Dance 2014 & Nintendo Land & instead of the Wii Remote I swapped it for a Wii U Pro controller (I used my Wii sensor bar & I already have wiimotes). Worked out well :) Picked up ZombiU from EB for $19 also.

Is Rayman Legends worth picking up for $28 from EB? I've already got it for 360 but haven't really played it.

    • Nice one. Gonna have to make a NNID thread in gaming to add each other on.
