Oh and OzBargain has a sister site in beta at the moment which Scott may announce soon. ;)

It definitely looks like the sister site, same ABN and Delvu Media is scotty. the login page also mentions OzBargain

    • I did remember them saying that

  • I was bored. I search Delvu media and that came up. Hehe

    Damn!

  • Cats out of the bag. ;)

It's still in beta and I think Scott was going to roll out more changes before announcing it. We also need to populate a lot of the coupon codes from here onto there.

Basically, we get a lot of coupon codes that are not really deal worthy so will be posted on there. We will throw all coupon codes from here onto OzVoucher.

    Can't even log in yet

Only available for mods to submit coupon codes atm.

No need to thank me Neil ;)

    • So any coupon codes that are listed as a deal here get automatically posted onto the new site?

      • It's a manual process at the moment. Not sure if it will be automatically sent there.

  • +1

Yeah what neil said. I got sent lots of coupon codes from the merchants, and many aren't that ozbargain-worthy — either the deal is not that good, or I just don't understand the deal at all (not very well versed in fashion or travel related deals for example).

However these can still be useful for some. At least that's from experience — some coupon codes that don't get much up votes ended up getting quite a few transactions according to the merchants. So I thought maybe we'll post them on a separate site so they don't get scrutinised by OzBargainers. However the data can still flow back to OzBargain to make the site more useful.

I know there are already heaps of coupon sites out there, but in general we can't really integrate with those sites (most of them would be driven by affiliates, and would hide/guard their codes as much as they can).

As of OzVoucher it is not really "production quality". It's only doing the data collection at the moment. It is also probably never going to be at the centre stage — coupons collected would be fed back into OzBargain.

    • Haven't seen a Lenovo deal/coupon lately ;)

    Duplicate already!

Pizza Capers listed twice with same coupon code on 2nd page…

  • Will there be a special section for Udemy? :P

    • +3

They gonna make Ozfreekindleebook.com.au(with easternculture the chief moderator), you saw it here first.

OzBargain don't make me explore two web at the same time. I am running out of money

  • Do the codes work?

    • Yes, Scotty transfers the codes from here to the new site

  • Sounds like a brilliant idea, an extra link in the store area of each deal would be great for 'see stores current vouchers' if that's possible.

    If there's one that's missing that I almost missed myself it's http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119589

Sunglass hut 30% off 1 pair or 40% off 2 or more pairs of sunnies. Great deal and great initiative by the admins/mods.

  • It would also be a good idea to have some sort of automatic system check to indicate if any cash back sites are available, just like what we already have here at OzBargain.

  • Nice clean looking website :)

  • I think it will just make everyone confused. Better to set up another tab or section in ozb to cater for coupons

    • People are more likely to do a search on google/bing for voucher then bargain meaning greater exposure and a growing community.

They will be sister sites and hopefully one day fully integrated with one another but in the same way that catchoftheday, mumgo, scoopon and so on are all the same business doing similar things being on separate websites greatly increases their exposure. Hopefully this will provide extra income for the owners of Ozbargain (well deserved) as well as provide a new outlet for bargains for us.

    • Better to set up another tab or section in ozb to cater for coupons

The idea is to put the coupon codes inside the deals and stores on OzBargain. The OzVoucher should is merely for collection at the moment. For example, a OzGameShop deal posted last week

Wouldn't it be nice to also display the current working coupon codes FRENZIED-5 and FRENZIED-10 somewhere on the page to bring down the price even further? As I've commented, OzVoucher was not meant to be a standalone site (for now at least) but to feed the working coupon codes to OzBargain, which I cannot do with existing coupon code sites that usually hide the code behind some Javascript.

  • I see some Ozvoucher links in search results - has this been officially launched?

    • Could you give us an example please? :-)

      • The Mens Shop store page https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/themensshop.com.au has a link to "Current coupon codes" at Ozvoucher (its under the deals statistics table).

        • Oh yeah, a pretty good implement there..
On ozvoucher.com.au, it still says "logon for mods only"…

        • Yep, still a work in progress. Things like Dominos is probably where coupon codes would come in handy.

Basically, all deals with coupon codes are now automatically posted to OzVoucher. Then those coupon codes that are active show on the OzBargain store page.

On ozvoucher.com.au, it still says "logon for mods only"…

          Scott covered this above.

As I've commented, OzVoucher was not meant to be a standalone site (for now at least) but to feed the working coupon codes to OzBargain, which I cannot do with existing coupon code sites that usually hide the code behind some Javascript.

  • it seems that coupon codes from unpublished ozbargain deals are being posted to ozvoucher?

    eg. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/uber.com#coupons and https://www.ozvoucher.com.au/store/uber.com

    uber20OffFirstRide is from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/129946

btw does uberRewards belong to scotty or easternculture - http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:YO6evZb…? :)

    • I have no idea what these code do — certainly not me as I don't even have an account there :)

Some promo code gets automatically published over there. However if the post was removed (because of duplicates in this case), they don't get removed there. I'll remove those as these appears to be referral codes.

  • In light of this discussion the current Masters coupon code seems to be an interesting case. There was an OzBargain post about it, but this was removed for some reason. The voucher code is still there in the Deals and Coupons page for Masters and there is a link to OzVoucher with a listing of some of the previous Masters codes including the one I posted a last year.

    • It was this deal. The OP requested it to be removed due to it not being active yet and not working.

So that coupon should be removed.

I guess the system either needs to automatically remove the coupon if the deal is removed or moderators need to.

  • Noticed a bug.
Here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/cosmeticdiscounts.com.au#… says there is a coupon code "freeshipping2014" still valid, whereas on OzV it is expired

    • +1

Yeah there's some synchronisation issue between the two sites. Should be fixed now.

      • Yep, fixed :)

  • following thanks
