Nexus 7 32GB refurbished also in stock for $159

  • In the case where problems arise while using the device

Like all those refurbs that were sold with the wrong firmware, and died after the OTA update to 4.3?

Though they were 32GB at the same $129 delivered. I'm surprised to see prices going up, but its still good value.

    • yeah. that was a pain - the one I got from these guys bricked it self via 4.3 OTA. Took me an hour or so to unbrick!

      • Same lol.. although its running 4.4 now and I'm very happy ^_^

        • is 4.4 official or did you install a custom ROM?

        • Its official, even got a bug update patch today. Anyway 4.4 update doesn't bring much noticeable stuff, no ART on nexus 7 2012 yet apparently, fingers crossed it'll get it eventually. I'm more just happy with the device in general.

          really? first in the world?

        • I looked for an update for my 16GB wifi and it says it is up to date at 4.3???

  • I should buy this…

  • Any news on rolling out KitKat to these devices?

  • Bought 2 of the 32GBs last time out (though it was Grays then). Both bricked during 4.3 updates, both have been back to Asus for firmware updates. Can't complain about the service, and I hope that they are up to spec now.
I read recently that Google will roll out 4.4 (KK) to these in the next month or so. Hope so!

  • Why is there no delivery option (only pickup) for me?

    • yeah I bought it - just choose pickup and write something in the notes. They'll ship it out.

  • Bought 32 GB one last time for $129 from Grays online and got bricked during update. Took me a while to fix it and upgrade to 4.3. I think it was bootloader issue. Once it is unlocked ,then the process is easy. Lot of help on google forums. Recently updated to 4.4 without any issue.

    • In the refurb, they had flashed the wrong firmware. Unlocking bootloader and using fastboot was the easy way to fix it.

  • Any signs of use in these refurbs?

    • Coincidentally planning to buy someone a Nexus 7 for Xmas?

I purchased one from here recently - it had touch screen issues. Sent it back to Asus after contacting cfonline and being told to send it to Asus. Didn't really want to go all ACCC on them so I just sent it to Asus. 3 Weeks later they sent me a new one. It works perfectly although it looks like someone once used it as a coaster for a hot drink as under some lighting conditions I can see a ring about the size of a mug on the screen. Sucks but it works and was cheap and I could not be bothered waiting 3 weeks for Asus to fix it again.

You get what you pay for I guess… Great Tablet though…

      • Was your screen too sensitive..? Or is it just me finding the gorrila glass too smooth because Im used to a matt screen protector on my S3?

It had phantom touches - ie. it was clicking on stuff and it wasn't even in my hand…

        • hmmm..nothing like that on mine..so far. (fingers crossed) :)

        • same for mine…….. still waiting…… :(

    • Nothing noticeable on the one I bought last month for same price. Didnt come with earphones though but I'm not fussed. The ONLY downside I can say was it was shipped using 'road transport' to Perth. But I wasnt in a hurry and it was free shipping.
      Hope this helps.

Oh and "brand new packaging" is not a retail box. It's a cardboard box - didn't bother me though

Are new batteries added during the refurb process, or is it a bit of pot luck regarding the battery condition of each unit?

  • will this one still brick?

  • Bought one from these guys, refurbished, it updated without any issues

  • Not a bad toy, little laggy IMO, when I can be assed I'll likely put Paranoid Android on it like my Nexus 4.

Its nice to have new toys, even if they are not the newest on the market. Cheap for what it is.

  • Bought two from them a couple of months ago and they were both like new and work fine. Its pretty fast, not 100% smooth on all occasions but excellent for the price.

  • Got one from them last week. It got delivered yesterday. Updated to 4.3 last night and 4.4 this morning. Updates went smooth. No complaints so far from me.

    • Mine came with 4.3 stock….still havent received the OTA update for 4.4 grrrrr!

My understanding is that you can't offer a 12 month manufacturer's warranty but still tell customers they have to send the item directly to the manufacturer. I call BS-yet-semi-typical-Asian-computer-shop shenanigans.

Regardless, it is a good price, but I'd rather pay a touch more and get it somewhere reputable…

  • Bought one earlier this month will let you know what it's like. Postage wise - I'm in WA, ordered I think around November 17, they send it out using a courier company, they aren't particularly quick couriers though - still waiting for it today.

  • Disappointed - arrived today, does not turn on - when I call the shop they say I can pay for postage back to them and they will return one after checking it, or rely on ASUS to pick it up and check it out through the week.
Not only does the product not work but they want me to pay to send it back to them … I'd bought this for my trip overseas in 2 weeks as I wanted a cheapie that wouldn't be a big blow if I lost it. Doesn't look like I will be getting it back from Asus in 2 weeks time…

  • kind of sad….. took them 4 weeks to "repair". sent me "new" unit. and it's still faulty of other sort……(no sound, flicker screen)

    never again.

  • I'm tempted to purchase this even still after reading the few negative comments. Seems like a good deal as I'm'm in the market for a tablet about that price range ($130).

Anyone else got some more positive experiences to push me over the line and buy one?

    • I bought 3 refurbs, (from 2 different retailers). Two of them bricked on 4.3 update. Sent them back to Asus at no cost. Came back sorted… All upgraded to kk fine…..
They're a great little machine for the price. I would recommend….

The reason why there refurbished is coz they all had problems at one stage or another. I wouldn't touch even with 1 year warranty.

  • Just recieved my nexus 7 will not turn on or charge, nothing will start this thing, tried to load bootloader will not turn on BEWARE!!

    • Decided to pry open the back and long behold battery was disconnected!! Updated to 4.4 all is good

  • super fast shipping and works great, flawless condition- thanks cfonline :)
