  • 15,000 Qantas Points ~ simply by applying and being approved for your new CommBank Platinum Awards card by 31 December 2013
  • A further 15,000 Qantas Points ~ simply by spending $500 on purchases with your new CommBank Platinum Awards card by 31 January 2014
  • Half priced annual fee of just $140 for the first year^ (or $125 for qualifying customers)

  • Qualifying customers = Holding a qualifying Commonwealth Bank account

In my opinion, this CAB deal is better than HSBC deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/115476
CBA: $140/$125 for 30,000 points ==> 0.46667c / 0.41667c per QFF
HSBC: $199 for 35,000 points ==> 0.56857c per QFF

How to spend $500 before 31 Jan 2014? Water bill, Electricity bill, parking fine, iPad Air, speeding fine …. etc

Macquarie deal $99 for 40,000 points is also good if you can spend $5,000 before 28 Feb 2014
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/120580
MQ: $99 for 40,000 points ==> 0.2475 per QFF

As an OzBargainer, don't forget close the account before the next annual fee due : )

    • Offer only applies to the recipients of relevant emails?

    Also I can't find the eligibility criteria.

    $280 annual fee? There's your plane ticket

    • $23/month for a flipping credit card? crazy! More than my phone bill

    Rip off, there's better promotions from other banks throughout the year. The fees for this card is ridiculous even after discounts. CBA are great at offering shit deals.

    E.g. Woolworths 20,000 for $89 annual fee

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/100699

    I don't think $51 more warrants for that 10,000 points, you can scavange that 10,000 points else where through other cards as well.

  • Rip off bank fees

  • Any idea if they do balance transfers with this/what the rate would be?

    • something like 5.99% for 6 months or something equally as shit. though this is probably because they have a promow which is like 0% on all purchases for 6 months

  • Does this apply for current non platinum card holders who upgrade their card to platinum?

    • highly unlikely

  • it's not a very good deal but remember anyone can be a CBA transaction account customer by opening a free Comsec account and thus getting a free CBA "CDIA" transaction account, with debit card.
