Syd/Mel to Los Angeles/New York/San Fran Flying United Airlines Return from Approx $600

480

Sydney/Melbourne to Los Angeles return flying United - approximately A$600 or less return. Other destinations also available like SFO, JFK, etc.

Prices depends on dates. Cheapest I found was less than A$600 all inclusive return flying in May and June. Search yourself for other dates and destinations. I managed to search for JFK for around A$800, SFO for around A$700.

Use with 28 degrees card for no currency conversion fees.

United is generally crap from Australia, but for this price…worth putting up with it, especially considering booking it through the United website is double the price. I haven't searched all dates but I think most dates are cheap and definitely cheaper than going direct.

Looks like Wideroe is legit but they are not including fees/taxes.

From here

Wideroe.no, a Norweign airline is not including fuel surcharges on fares on United Airlines between the United States and Europe Israel, India, the Middle East and Australia. We tested a few city pairs and for all itineraries with United flights, the fuel surcharge is not included.

and

The deal is gone. If you purchased and waiting for ticketing, please just be patient. DO NOT CALL!

That's incredibly cheap. It's usually about $1400 return to NY. Cheapest ever about $1100.

    Is this site legit?

  • yeah is it legit? Great prices

  • smells fishy.

  • Is it only through this site or can you get the same fares on expedia brazil, Orbitz, etc??

The .no in the website address might be a hint? This seems too cheap. I don't think flying United is the dealbreaker here.

it lets you get all the way thru to just before the payment page and then you get an error regardless of travel dates, times etc at those prices. got through and was trying to book with a friend to make sure we were on the same flights and I got to the payment page, she couldn't get through. now neither of us can do it.

  • It's gone now for the moment anyway. I think there was no fuel surcharge.

  • oh not sure if this is reliable…otherwise i'd go for it

hmmm, seems bit too good to be true… Found MEL to LAX return for $526 Aussie.

    • -2

      what dates is 526$ for?

      • +5

Never, because the dollar sign is always before the numerical value.

  • I can only find around 600 euro each way?

  • +1

Has anyone actually gotten through and purchased the whole way and confirmed its a valid ticket?

    PSA,

When selecting the flights, unless you need to always select flying into LAX over San Francisco. The SFO route uses a lovely 1990s style 747-400, equipped with the latest in overhead video projector technology.

While the 777 on the LAX routes (only found after late march sadly) have personal tvs and a nine abreast layout, which is better than that of Emirites, Etihad, American Airlines, etc. I've spoken more about that here

    • If you're connecting onto somewhere else in the USA, SFO>LAX! Bloody immigration there is a nightmare…

      • That's true BUT if you are looking at hiring a car the rates out of LAX are a lot cheaper

        • If you're hiring a car out of LAX, you're destination is LAX anyway. No point transiting in SFO if your destination is LAX.

        • You're right, I didn't read your post properly. My comment only stands if you're trying to choose an entry point into the US and not connecting. LAX is a nightmare, only worse experience I had was in HNL but it's not usually that bad

  • Damn, I just got the same tickets with United this morning. :/

    • How much did you pay per ticket? If you don't mind me asking of course :)

  • I get two errors:
    "The following error(s) occured
We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please choose a different fare or flights and resubmit your request. (15012 - 1006)"
"We are having difficulty processing your request at this time. We recommend that you wait a few minutes and try again. We apologize for this inconvenience."

    • Same. Looks like we were a few hours too late. Marked as expired until someone can actually make a booking.

  • Still working from Melb, comes out @ $527 return.

I doubt it'd be honored though.

      What are the dates please

    • you can select the flights but can not get to the payment screen without an error

  • +1

I got to the payment screen just fine but didn't check to see if it would take my card [21.05 - 18.06]

  • I get to the payment page but it does not accept my phone number … it wants a norwegian, swedish or UK number. Mhhh … should I just enter a UK prefix …

    • Great … now looks like I don't get the fare confirmed anymore. Did anyone get a flight?

Update: When you enter an Australian mobile number you always get an error but you get to the payment page … from there you can't proceed … :-) (So it looks like you have a flight nearly secured but it's not true … ). Deal gone :-(

hrmm not sure whether to book or not I have a bad feeling about booking like its going to be more hassle then its worth.

  • wow. that is cheap

  • Damn, that is / was an AWESOME price.
Would snap it up in a second and go for another US holiday @ those prices!

  • This is the wierest thing I've ever seen.
Yesterday I tried this and got flights come up for around 320EUR for Mel - LAX return in May/June.
Tired to book but continually got an error.
Today I try and now Delta is the cheapest for 870EUR return.
Looks like either the deal is over, or it was a system area and wouldn't let anything be booked for such a cheap price.

Was anyone successful in getting a booking through??

  • 48 plus votes and no confirmed bookings!

  • Has anyone got a PNR as yet?

    • PNRs aren't definitive. They're merely only a booking locator. What you want is an e-ticket to be issued.

  • Ok thanks, anyone got an etkt?
