Bon Jovi, ETIHAD STADIUM Melbourne. $35 Per Ticket Plus Proc. Fee ($9.95 for 2 Tickets) Dec 8

580

Although I'm not a big Bon Jovi fan this is a hell of a deal.
Tickets that popped up for me were Level 3 row B Section 13 (Front of the nosebleeds).

These tickets are still available at ticketmaster for way more.

  • Description on Lasttix -

In this spectacular new show fans will be treated to an unforgettable night of Bon Jovi's huge arsenal of hits, as well as new tracks from the band's latest album WHAT ABOUT NOW which debuted at # 1 on the Australian charts. Night after night, this not-to-be-missed tour has earned rave reviews from fans and critics alike: Billboard Magazine recently described the show as "a joyful musical tour de force."

I read that as, cheap night out to go out and dress up like a glam rocker in the 80's.

I never understood why ticketec have to charge administration fee for a pdf. This wouldn't have made any sense even for printed ones but admin fee for e-tickets? Talk about ripping off.

    • I believe it's how they get paid for selling the tickets.

A former ticketek employee explained it online once: It's a feature Ticketek offers to the music promoters who put on concerts.

Ticketek says to them: "Want to charge $115 per person without people thinking the artist is greedy? We'll advertise it as 99, but then add a bunch of BS fees - credit card fees, booking fees, online processing fees, etc - so your customers will hate US instead of YOU."

It's a way for the artist's manager to overcharge without them and their artist getting the blame.

Think about it - if Ticketek was keeping all those fees plus a percentage, promoters would just sell direct on their website. All tickets are sold online anyways.

I remember paying $26 to see John Denver in concert in 1983. I think his last concert was about $38 in 1997.Say what you want about his music, the guy never charged excessively for his tickets. Even in his heyday in the '70s I remember paying about $13 for a third row seat.

        • +2

Apparently $26 in 1983 is equivalent to about $75 now. http://www.rba.gov.au/calculator/annualDecimal.html

        • Not to mention that there are now more people chasing tickets today so you'd assume that should push prices higher.

Australian's also have more disposable income than they did back in 1983. According to the ABS it almost doubled (inflation adjusted) over the last 20 years. So as a portion of the average Australian's available money your $26 is actually more expensive than a $115 ticket today.

I paid $13 to see KISS in 1980. Ahhh, the good old days.

Big Day Out tickets do not incur any extra fee from the ticket agent. Has been this way the last 2 years. If the promoter insists on this policy they can stop ticket the agent charging ridiculous fees. I remember last year BDO sold through 4 channels - their own website, general pants stores, moshtix & ticketek. If one agent charged more than the others do in fees they don't get customers. Keeps the price you pay for the ticket the same as the advertised price, which was something people had complained loudly about re BDO the last few years.

    • Although the amount may be a rip-off and should be just integrated into the ticket price, it kind of makes sense that e-tickets do incur overhead. First of all, someone had to make the system to create the pdf. There may also be some licensing fees to deliver the documents, including the cost for Adobe Acrobat, etc. There are also costs for delivering the pdf to your email, including a computer security expert to verify that the process is fairly secure. Finally, everyone who gets an e-ticket and then has a problem will want to be able to talk about the problem with someone at Ticketec. Nobody at Ticketec is going to talk to these people with problems for free. Not every person will have a problem, but to make everyone happy they just spread out these admin costs over everyone.

  • Hey.. its asking me for a handling charge for 2 tickets.. " Handling Charge AU $9.35", is that what others received?
    Thanks..

    • Sorry I didn't finalize it it was showing up at $1.10 for me but I'll rectify the description.

    No love for Adelaide ?

    • Why don't you'se come down to Adelaide- Jay will shout you a venue called Adelaide Oval and throw in a bit of cash aswell.

I hope they have wheelchair access to the stage…

  • Its probably cause stereosonic is on Sat 7th & Sun 8th in Melbourne and some of their fans may have been stolen so they need to reduce the price!

I imagine all the middle-aged bogan mums will jump at this… lol.

    • or jump on. Bon Jovi used to be sooo trendy.

My mate creamed himself when I told him about this deal.

  • Just bought - bargain!

  • Negged for you not liking Bon god damn Jovi.

    • It's not that I don't like Bon Jovi, just not enough to go to a concert.

Dead or alive is probably in the top 100 songs of all time.

  • Although I agree this is a good price for their concert, it is not really a bargain. Same price for a bronze ticket, seems the lasttix.com.au was just trying to get some exposure.

    • +5

Hi punkfans. The $35 offer you are seeing on Ticketmaster is just for Bronze Category tickets. The $35 ticket offer from Lasttix includes Silver Category tickets as well. So basically you are getting a much better ticket for the price of a Bronze ticket. Just thought I'd clarify for everyone on this thread. John

  • Sold out :(

Does anyone have 2 tickets they need to sell?

  • What an amazing performance! So glad I managed to find tickets in the last moment.

It was electrifying to watch, and the stadium is very well done. A great night altogether.

That drummer was admirable, he went on and on and showed no signs of being tired. And Bon jovi too. And the lights. Loved it all :)

Once again thanks to op for bringing this to my notice and ozb for making it happen!

  • It was a good show in Adelaide but as a singer was some 200 meters away it definetily lacked that sense of being right in the middle od action.
I'd prefer a smaller venue but definitely it is not possible for that price.
