  • pretty beast, i will send this deal to a friend

  • So which is it, 3.6GHz (as per title) or 3.5GHz (as per description)?

    • Technically it's both since it can turbo from 3.5GHz to 4.0GHz.

    Good deal!

Looks good, though I'd put a better GPU in a $1000 gaming rig (from money I save on cheaper mobo, case, 8GB RAM)

        Agreed.
Would get a better PSU if you intend to overclock and a $30 aftermarket CPU cooler. AMD 7970 Ghz 3GB card would be nice in this rig.

  • that's 1 ugly case

edit: I see more than red available, my bad

  • Amds future lies with the apu
They should have put a six core apu to compete with core i5.
This current setup is not bad, but marry amd CPU and no card is rare.

    • What are you talking about? This has a GTX660, so on die GPU is irrelevant.

    • On thank ipad auto correct lol

I was referring nv nvidia card lol

I think most people on Ozbargain are over the more "RAM = better" marketing gimmick. If your selling this as a gaming machine, you won't want to be putting 16GB in it (especially with the prices now, I bought 16Gb 1866 CL10 for $105 almost a year ago). The savings on the RAM could have gone into a better graphics card. Also not over-keen on the Thermaltake Litepower PSU.

  • Sli card on crossfire motherboard.

  • To be honest, I'm usually not too critical of builds that are $200 below their normal price after factoring in the assembly cost as well, for $1000, this is an okay all-rounder PC, but as a PC that's targeted specifically towards gaming, it's not THAT bad, the components are okay, but I would drop 16GB to 8GB, take that $80 and put that towards a better graphics card.

    Something like a 280X or a 7970 would be good in a $1000 system.

Also, I question AMD CPUs in general, I don't see any cases where AMD CPUs are better than their Intel counterparts. Absolutely none.

That's this CPU against the i5 4670K, though if you're not overclocking, go with the 4670 and you don't lose anything. Even in multi-threaded tests, the 8320 doesn't beat the i5 4670K, in single-threaded benchmarks, it doesn't hold a candle.

As far as everything else goes, power consumption, heat output, TDP, Intel wins.

  • Is this a half decent system? Yes.

Are these the most appropriate parts for the cost? Not by a long shot. Who needs 16gb on a gaming rig, and the money saved could easily be put towards a better graphics card, a bigger ssd or a better power supply. I just finished up two gaming rigs with Radeon 7970s for cheaper than this =/
