Finally can make use of the gold pins on the side of our original Nexus 7's with this nifty dock.
Had my eye on it for awhile but has always been $49+ from Harvey - Good guys.

Amazon specs for the people scratching their heads:
This is for the 1st Generation Nexus. The Official Nexus 7 Dock is designed with a rubberized bottom and weighted down to provide the best docking performance. Pogo-pins charges the Nexus 7 and provides sound to the audio jack which is ideal for powered speaker systems. With the official ASUS Nexus 7 Dock, there is no need to physically connect to the Nexus 7's USB port because pogo-pins do all the work, allowing rapid docking and undocking.

Closest price I could find is currently $39 from Good guys if your prefer to pick it up in store.

Be kind, it's my first time.

If only the Nexus 10 dock would come down to this. US$90 for a magnetic dock is ridiculous.

Too bad I sold my nexus 7 because I couldn't get this dock for under $100. Oh the regret

    • buy the next one! XD

      • Well now I have no excuse eh?

      • I don't think the newer Nexus 7 has those side pins. So can't use this dock.

        • true it won't make use of this (wireless qi charging instead.)
I'm just saying since he sold Nexus 7 V1 he should get N7V2 .

  • Unfortunately can't use it with a case covering the Nexus - I bought a Philips dock from one of the DS specials. There's no magnet in this one, and there have been complaints of poor connectivity.

  • Bought this for US$34.60 shipped back in Oct. This is a good price, esp considering the weaker dollar.

you don't usually carry around a dock with your tablet device

  • Has anyone seen any knock off's of these? I'm surprise someone hasn't made an alternative dock utilising the pogo pins.

Anyone in Brisbane want to group-buy, might save a bit on shipping and make it better again.

  • Not seeing option to ship australia !?

    • ignore pls, i was also adding a samsung 64gb sd card which was the one showing error.

Max quantity 3 only for 82$ shipped, so about 27$ if grouped (or just 3.5$ more for single piece)

'provides sound to the audio jack which is ideal for powered speaker systems.'

I'm a sound technician and I don't know what this means.

Do you mean that the dock has a headphone or line out jack? That's no different to the jack on the Nexus 7 itself.

Cheers, good job with the post!

    • yes has an output jack. the advantage is the jack is on the dock 100% on the time. saves the hassle of pluggin in the 3.5mm jack into the tablet every time.

    • It's especially useful if you use your Nexus 7 as an alarm clock for these recent cold mornings that make it just so much easier to ignore that puny inbuilt speaker. Also works as a nice setup to replace an outdated stereo unit it can be quickly un-docked to become a portable mp3 player.

  • GF, You're doing it wrong if you're using your awesome Nexus 7 as an alarm clock…

    • I like the abbreviation GF, sounds like you are saying it in slang
      "GuurrlFriennd, you doin' it wrong"

But yeah I use my Nexus 7 to replace basically everything I had in/ontop of my bedside table.

      • I dont talk like that… only for fun hahah… your username though, you chose it.

Can't wait for the 2nd generation 10 inch Nexus to come out… then I'll invest in another Nexy! :)

  • Ordered this on 6/12 and still hasn't arrived…
