If it is as good and fast as Toshita laptops or usb drives then I'll pass.

  • If it is as fast as the dicksmith.com.au website now - I won't be able to buy one!

How do you save $35 from gift cards? The $50 gift card means you have to buy something else so I don't get your savings.

    • if you buy it with the gift cards that you bought previously that are discounted, you save on buying it.

  • NOTE! - GIFT CARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS! : Limited Stock. Offer ends 1st December, while stocks last. Total Gift Card value will be dispatched on a single Gift Card. Please allow up to 5 business days for gift cards to be dispatched.

    A lightning review
    http://www.fatducktech.com/reviews/toshiba-encore-tablet-han…

Apparently it's able to boot to Windows in just a few seconds, and batt life lasts 7 hours.

Ignoring all the idiot trolls above

this tablet is a bay trail atom tablet and is just as fantastic as the Dell venue 8 pro
The only thing is that it doesnt use an active digitiser stylus so you have to use those rubber capacitive ones which are not pressure sensitive or as accurate for fine print writing

Other than that it has more ports than the dell and is cheaper with the exact same speed

im waiting on my dell order to arrive but if it doesnt arrive in time 10/10 would buy the toshiba encore

Also for those who dont know it runs FULL WINDOWS

not RT, not android, not ios. FULL WINDOWS and comes with FREE MISCROSOFT OFFICE worth about $150

    • I have been eyeing off both the dell and this. Did you order the dell one through a freight forwarder? I haven't seen it on the .au website as of yet.

<edit> And keeping an eye on the Acer W4 for when it is released for a similar one in the 8" space.

    • But what advantage would I get from running Windows 8 on such a small screen? Seems a bit too small to be running any extensive stuff, maybe photoshop or something I guess? But as you said there doesn't seem to be a digitiser.

      • if you like windows then U won't be disappointed, I had the venue 8 pro and it's awesome, mainly for browsing, reading, music and things like that, but you can also use miracast to connect to an external monitor and you have a mini pc, It runs visual studio 2013 express like a charm, but again I'm a windows user and used pocket pc a lot few years ago, this device is like a dream come true

        • Almost bought a venue 8 but wanted hdmi. So i got a encore 8 from the above deal. Was sold as it has hdmi.

I do miss the active stylus as i also have a latitude st2 10.

Damm cool having some grunt in a small form factor

I hope the police don't defect this in public without a cover then

    • Must be a K&N at that price.

  • Good value for a decent brand tablet PC.

  • hmm this excited me until I read that it has one usb port that is also the charging port….

Still a good buy if you just want a tablet and dont want mouse and keyboard.

    • hmmm maybe I should just buy one "for the business" lol it has office and windows so I could use it I guess, but I guess Id need a bluetooth keyboard to be useful.

  • Looks like a car air filter

Reminder: Quad core A7 or whatever. Just a mobile CPU.

    • No.. it's a quad core atom. so a full x86 processor (hence running full windows 8) Not a particularly fast x86 processor, but reasonable for the job it does.

  • Meh…….I bought this on Tuesday without the $50 card :(

The new atom only supports 2GB ram max running the faster ram type. And 4GB running the slower one. This tablet only has 2GB ram.

Well i pretty much use up 2GB ram with nothing running on W7.. I guess when you swap file to SSD on W8 good luck with that lol
