The picture and saving of $69.97 suggests that bundle should includes Eneloop Charger + 4 X 'AA' Nimh + Two 8 X AA Rouge Battery Pack .

Eneloop Standard Charger with set of 4 x 'AA' eneloop NiMH batteries $39.98 + $79.96 for Two 8 X AA Rouge Battery Pack = $119.94 then -$50= $69.94 (SAVING).

I hope We just hit the jackpot or?

I did the screen shot with a charger (includes 4 batteries)+ TWO 8 X AA Rouge Battery Pack just in case .

    Description clearly states :

This bundle contains the following items

    • Eneloop Tones 'ROUGE' 8 x AA Rechargeable NiMH LSD Batteries
This item can bought separately for
      $19.98

    • Eneloop Standard Charger includes 4 x 'AA' NiMH Batteries
This item can bought separately for
      $39.98

  • So is it 16 batteries + 4 white batteries in the charger or what..?

  • That's confusing since the DickSmith pic shows 2 sets of ROUGE, but the title implies only 1 set

  • It's worth confirming with DS to make sure. They do this sometimes with their PS3 deals where they show 2 controllers but only offer one in the actual bundle.

DS are very poor at maths. See this advertisement where the eneloops are advertised at $19.98 save $30. The saving is actually $20 http://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/39370/19746/dick51213.p…

    • probably same as their share…….poor math! :-P

      Original prices:
      * Eneloop Tones 'ROUGE' 8 x AA Rechargeable NiMH LSD Batteries $39.98
      * Eneloop Standard Charger includes 4 x 'AA' NiMH Batteries $39.98

Sale price: $50 save $69.97 indicates original price was $119.97. This indicates 2x 8xAA battery packets plus 1x charger (with 4x44).

Looks to me like fair evidence it is as pictured and the OP has found an ozBargain!

20 batteries are worth $50 (with current sale). So you get a free charger. But the charger is probably a 'dumb' charger.

    • +1

exactly what I am thinking….just a free charger!

  • +5

too many Eneloop AAs, where are the AAAs?

  • no, only one set of 8 AA Rouge + 4 NiMH = 12 batteries

  • certainly looks like 12 batteries only which means its not a deal if its $50 with the dumb charger…. $30 for a dumb charger is pretty hopeless.

DSE are typically trying to flog these obsolete chargers off at $40 normally. As mentioned previously Masters has the smart quick chargers with 4 batteries (1800 cycle) for $30 so really seems pointless to bother with the dumb charger here.

On the positive side the batteries seem to be purchasable separately at $20 so that's in line with previous deals.

  • last time i got the same contents for $40 in store.
was buy one get one free.

I noticed this today when scanning the DSE bargains so I called 1300 366 644 and a polite young lady told me the picture and saving is wrong. The description is right. One charger and a total of 12 batteries. Sorry, you haven't hit the jackpot. I'll neg the deal until someone gives me reason not to.

oh tightarse. Your username is so inappropriate.

        Please elaborate.

I read the description and clearly states: Eneloop Standard Charger + 8 x AA Rouge Battery Pack
So you are correct to think only one pack is included.

      • At the time it said charger plus 8 batteries now it says 16+4

    • -1

Sorry, you haven't hit the jackpot

      Sorry
I said WE hit the jackpot not I hit the jackpot.
If we gain we gain together , if we lose we lose together .
      We are the one.
I am here not just about me or me or me.

a polite young lady told me the picture and saving is wrong. The description is right

DSE customer service equal TGG customer service.

They don't know or have no idea what they are talking about 99.99% of the times.

    • The description has been changed - charger + 2 packs of 8 batteries.

saving of circa $70 is right.

      $10 backup charger - bargain.

Normal price is $59.96… $50 on special = saving of $9.96

False advertising when they show a photo (a photo speaks a thousand words) containing 16 batteries plus the charger (which includes 4 batteries) for $50, and then state that it's a saving of $69.97. SMH.

Eneloop Tones 'ROUGE' 8 x AA Rechargeable NiMH LSD Batteries = $19.98 EA
Eneloop Standard Charger includes 4 x 'AA' NiMH Batteries = $39.98 EA

    $19.98 + $19.98 + $39.98 = $79.94 - $50.00 = saving of $29.94…

    …but if you only get 1 set of 8 AA's, then $29.94 - $19.98 = saving of $9.96 = bleh.

    They no can adderupperers properly.

    False advertising!

How hard would it be to put that photo in MSPaint and crop out the right set of AA's… c'mon now. Lazy!

    • The regular prices are:
Eneloop Tones 'ROUGE' 8 x AA Rechargeable NiMH LSD Batteries = $39.98
Eneloop Standard Charger includes 4 x 'AA' NiMH Batteries = $39.98

So bundle with 2xAA pack is:
      RRP = 2 x $39.98 + $39.98 = $119.94
      Savings = $119.94 - $50 = $69.94 (3c missing)

      For 1xAA pack:
      RRP = $39.98 + $39.98 = $79.96
      Savings = $79.96 - $50 = $29.96 ($40.01 missing)

So looks like it 'should' contain 2 AA packs.

  • Why is it called a dumb charger?

    • -2

battery nerds who buy chargers for $50 call these ones "dumb chargers" because they don't have a readout on precise battery charge.

The nerds will claim that they need this to maximise battery life. But I suspect that they are just a bit silly.

      • From what I gather, I think it's more about how the smart charger will stop charging individual batteries when they reach full capacity, and continue to charge those that still need more juice?

Only what I read previously, I don't have a smart charger myself.

    • +2

Dumb chargers are as the name implies. Dumb. They employ a fixed set of parameters to charge the battery, which applies to any battery you place in the charger.

A smart charger dynamically adjusts the charging strategy based on battery's condition, charge state etc. Most smart chargers allow users to manually adjust the charging parameters.

Smart chargers also have other functions like discharge prior to recharge, to minimise the "memory effect" that's inherent in Ni-MH/Ni-CAD batteries.

  • Someone please change the title. It's not much of a bargain if it's only for 8xAA+4xAA+(dumb)Charger..

  • Item description has been updated to : Eneloop Standard Charger + 16 x AA Rouge Battery Pack.

Looks like the deal is good.

    • looks like it's 16 + 4 batteries then?

still, it's a free dumb charger with the bulk buy…..not recommended!

      buy the 8 + 8 for $40 and get a better charger!

      • So now it is 16+4 + a dumb charger the deal is good? The dumb charger should work fine right?

        • it works fine, it's a normal(but dumb) charger.
          put it this way:

          think of 8 eneloop batteries = $20
so set of 4 eneloop batteries = $10?
          8 + 8 + 4 = $50
which make this charger: free! :-P

but will still recommend you invest a better charger!
