Oettinger Pils Cans 500ml (Dan Murphys) $36.99 for 24 Cans

190

Im not sure if this is standard price or not, but this is very cheap for 24 500ml cans of beer/pils.

Liquor Style: Pilsner
Varietal: International Beer
Size: 500mL

This German Pilsner represents great value for money. It's easy drinking and with the zing of the saaz hops it is quite refreshing.

Not as cheap as the recent $20.90 for 24 330mL bottles ($2.64/L) but this is pretty close at $3.08/L.

I think the normal price is $40 for this.

Yeah I think normal price is $40 for these.

I know some knock it, but this is one of the best cheap beers out there imo. I find it very drinkable.

      • Its good stuff for the money if your a euro brew fan

      • $39 at Woolworths outlets at the moment. Usually $42 there. Though they don't often have much in stock.

A very drinkable beer that still tastes good after several months, unlike some other cheap European brands that are only good for one or two sessions.

I really like this beer - even though beer snobs at parties have to comment on my "cheapness" for buying it.

It is a little under hopped but still a good drop.
It is a german beer and follows the German purity law so is easier on the gut (as is doesn't have all the crap some of the local beers seem to think that they need- ie preservative) good deal

  • Yeah its pretty drinkable and would be really good on the .5 cl can. I've been enjoying the couple of $20 stubs cartons I've got.

  • Fully imported 500ml German Beer for $37…. alternatively, you can purchase an inferior 330ml locallay Brewed "imported" beer for $40. Tough choice.

  • Still unsure? Check the reviews at Dan's.

  • I am another fan of this beer.

The 500ml cans fit really well into my big esky. Two cans can fit long and it covers the whole floor, so it really maximises space in my 62 litre campmaster esky from Big W.

  • I'm not a big beer fan, but as a German I can tell you most Germans wouldn't voluntarily drink Oettinger… it would also sell for <.50€ per 500ml there, but I know that comparison doesn't work well here.

    • Most Germans probably don't pay over $40 for a case of a local standard brew do they (in other words getting ripped off by multinationals maintain ing huge margins)? But you must be wrong because supposedly it is the highest selling beer by volum there.

      • Because of this I looked up that stat and found this thread: http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/non_aviation/read.m…

The opinions of people in that thread:

Actually not surprising that Oettinger is on top, you get a case with twenty 0.5 liter bottles for 5 EUR (or even less when it is on special offer), the good thing is that this beer is drinkable unlike other cheap beers.

I can't agree more, nobody else offers a case of good tasting wheat beer for 5.40 EUR.

        LH526 from Germany

Yeah, Oettinger is that mediocre tasting Ryanair of german beers, I prefer Becks due to it's bottle size 'n' shape
Right, on a money-taste basis .. but I rather spend some cents more and get an excellent tasting beer instead of that "Öttinger-Plörre". I can't stand those 15+ year olds in the local supermarket getting high in Oettinger just because it's cheap and widely available …

        CrazyHorse from Austria

I agree, and the Oettinger Weißbier is really a good Weißbier. Cheap price and good taste, a nice team for a good selling beer.

        OHLHD from Finland

        Oettinger is fine aswell.

        Rlywynn from Germany

Oettinger - By far the best tasting beer for the money anywhere in the world.

sorry guys…. but Oettinger is real piss beer….. 3 weeks ago I saw Oettinger Pils and Export , for 3,99 EUR the case…
well last time I drunk Oettinger is at least 9 years ago… when I was still in school…

So the only real negatives are from a guy who prefers Beck's due to the bottle shape and a fairly young guy who hasn't drunk it since he was in school.
