Dell / Alienware is currently running some free-upgrade offers on their gaming laptops. Alienware 14 for example gets free upgrade to GeForce GTX 765M & Dual Layer Blu-Ray drive, and mid-range Alienware 17 gets upgrade to 2x 750GB HDD and GeForce 770M with 3GB DDR5.

Note that Alienware 14 is not exactly "light-weight portable gaming laptop" at 2.77kg. Good build quality though.

    Excluding the OS and blu-ray drive. But yes you do get a 13.3inch Full HD and at 2kg. Not yet convinced that Clevo is of better quality than Alienware.

      I've been less then impressed with alienwares design personally as well.. very big and chunky.

        Personally seen an Alienware 17" fail….Might not apply to all naturally but the price and history make me stay clear for now.

    Clevo…thinner, lighter, and 'hotter' with this crappy heatsink for $1300…ok.

    Gaming laptops isn't just about how good the CPU and GPU is. You could have a beast laptop all you want, but that thing will be scorching hot and die sooner than expected from overheating.

    Take a look at google images for various Alienware heatsinks before you talk some garbage please.

      Well the Clevo still has better heatsinks than Gigabyte P34G, so there's that.

      It's a headsink man… are you suggesting the heatsink will melt and die or something?
      The heatsink on the likes of the w230st is sufficient.. It's not the greatest design, but it works well enough. I'd take that over a giant overkill heatsink that adds 1kg and 2 inches in thickness to my laptop any day of the week.

      It's like suggesting the Xbox one is a better design than the PS4 because the PSU is outside the console and there is so much space inside the box. It's hardly a great argument.

    2.77kg would put it in the range of a typical 15.6" laptop. I usually expect 2-2.2kg for a full featured 14" laptop. Still portable (especially comparing to a desktop), but heavier than one would expect from a 14".

    To get a desktop computer + monitor + keyboard & pointing device to 2.77kg you'll need to include some anti-gravity device, which would break the $2,000 budget here :)

  Overpriced. Only GTX 765M…
  I got the MSI i7 with GTX660M for $900~. Much better value IMO.

  Metabox or LBO (logical blue one) are better value if you want GTX765M.
  Just use the past OzB deals for Windows 8 - $30 and MS Office 2013 - $15.
  Then add a Samsung 840 Pro SSD 250GB, and you are laughing.

      I got it from Megabuy.
      It was MSI GE60 - i7, GTX660M, 8GB ram = $928.

      Doesn't look like they have stock anymore…
