  • Make it $230 + delivery and I might be interested to get it locally rather than via Shopping Express.. :)

  • I gave you a positive for the attempt because i really do like Netplus! But even with that code. Its only Aus Post, Couriers - $13.45 for psotage to 6060 and 6280. Roughly $240 delivered :(

    Prices updated! Merry Christmas all!

ps. of course those who have ordered will have new lower prices.

  • Thanks for updating the price, purchased 2.

  • Note the credit card surcharge if paying by that method, adds a further $5 or so dollars above the other deal.

  • What RAM do you sell that can upgrade this?? Not sure about ECC, non ECC, etc that is compatible.. suggestions?

    • ECC RAM is highly advised, although some people have had limited success without

    • +2

I think ECC is only advised if you are using this for a server that needs 100% up-time. For most home use, it is not required. I have the N40L with 8GB (2x 4GB) Kingston ValueRAM installed; not had a single issue with it.

      • Same… Think they changed it to required on the gen 8 only… Though that said I've also heard they are fussy on ram they will take…

      • Some FreeNAS expert was telling me that due to possible memory corruption in non-ECC RAM (something to do with how it doesn't have the bit-flipping or something - I don't fully understand how ECC RAM 'works') there is a (small) possibility of data corruption when doing a ZFS scrub. So ECC is probably best for data-critical implementations as well as uptime demands if you go the ZFS route.

  • Hi NetPlus,

My postage on the order still says 19$ :(

    Cheers

  • Would I be able to get this deal in-store? Would rather not have to wait for postage considering it's easier for me to just go to Osborne Park.

    • Yes, of course! Free Pickup. Place your order online for pickup

      • I do believe its store policy that you need to leave a phone number though.

  • Hi, Forgive my ignorance…

What else do I need to buy with this for a complete NAS setup?

    Cheers,

    • +1

mainly hard drives… possibly an OS depending on which way you want to go (or just use Freenas.

      • Thank you.

        • You can use Windows Server for 6 months every 6 months.

  • Steam OS on this thing? :D

    • Mostly pointless, it's a low power machine, weak CPU, quiet, slow fan and the PCI-e slot can't take much in the way of power load either. I use an ATI 5450 and as a HTPC but nothing beefier.

  • Still bummed the replacement model to the N54L holds less disks, uglier design, high price :/
Was really hoping for some more CPU grunt, USB3 etc, a shame!

  • Most importantly, what's the true power consumption with say a single HDD installed on this unit on standby?
