Damn, excludes Gift Card purchases. :-(

    • Agreed - damn. But I wonder why they care?

      • If you buy products its unlikely you'll spend exactly $200, but if you buy a gift card you can buy exactly that amount. Less profitable if alot of people do this.

Also probably trying to get their inventory down so they won't have so much to reduce on Boxing Day. And hordes of people won't come in Boxing Day with $220 to spend in gift cards on the reduced stock.

        • But they do the $50 Gift Card for $500 Gift card purchase around this time of the year. This deal should be on after this $200 spend deal expires, if Myer is still doing the deal this year. Its a great deal as its able to be used on Apple Products.

You could always buy $200 worth of goods & get the $20 gift card. Return the goods after xmas (say they were an "unsuitable gift") & a get $200 Myer returns card. Myer returns cards are valid for 12 months. Bingo - same result.

Note there is a long list of excluded products for returns, & other t&cs:

        • Have tried this? It will have the $20 gift card on the receipt, and Myer are not just going to give away free gift cards.

        • They had this on the Melbourne last week. The T&C then said for returns you'd have to return the card too.

        • I have returned unsuitable goods & very rarely had any problem (depends largely on the company's returns policy). If you are just asking for an return/exchange voucher retailers are, in my experience, generally happy to oblige. The store is not losing the sale/money you've already paid after all.

What I would probably do is say "I was given this product as a gift, but want to exchange it for this product". A product you actually want, obviously. If your desired purchase is less than $200, you can ask for a return voucher for the difference. If more than $200, you just pay the extra amount.

I can't see a problem with this, unless you want to return the $200 item for something of relatively low value.

    • Oh sorry, I thought you meant if you used Gift Cards as part of that $200, you don't get the $20 bonus.

  • Can I get the free $20 Myer Gift card if I bought something using Gift cards?

Yes, should work if its over $200 and not an excluded item.

  • Recon I can PAY using a gift card though?

    • Yes, as above, the cards are treated just like cash at Myer.

  • Any idea how one gets this ? My wife paid $249 for 2 dresses from Myers this evening, scanned her Myers card but the lady at checkout didn't say anything about this offer. Only just saw this and we also received the email.

Print out the Myer email, go back to the store with your receipt & ask if your were entitled to the gift card as outlined in their email.

I find it really annoying that the Myer Head Office doesn't pass along info relating to things like this to their staff, and they always seem really confused.

They might as well say 10% off everything, that would draw more people in

    • Not the same thing.. it would cost them a lot more.
