yeah I just grab them all for that exact reason. Don't even have the amazon app store application on my phone, haha.
To grab it off the US Amazon store without logging into the AU site just remove the .au from the address in the link.
It's not free.
It forces you to download Amazon appstore.
Then Picsplay pro is not free.
Shows normal price $3.99
Also removing the .au from the url does not work either.
Can anyone explain how to get it for free?

still comes up as free for me, bought it, and now have it. not sure why it's not working for you :(
Once you have a phone linked to your amazon account (I assume this is done by having the amazon app installed and have logged in with it at least once) you can then use your computer and just "buy" it from the link above.
I never used the app itself to get any of these app of the day deals.
Removing .au does work, I just tried again.

Once you are logged into Amazon(through a normal web browser), you should have an option to "buy now with 1-click", with no charge.
You only need the Amazon appstore to load the app to your mobile device. You have to do this at least once on a device so the 1-click purchase can show you what device it is compatible with so you can purchase the item for free.
