  • Any chance the Apple shop will price match this?

  • Is this the 1m or 2m one? The pic looks like 2m, but there's no other indication.

  • It's 1m

Still a rip off. Ebay - a couple of dollars delivered and works the same.

See my comments below. From my experience, they don't work the same.

    • They don't work the same. Genuine cable charges a lot faster. I have both genuine and the el cheapo from eBay. It takes so long to charge my ipad using the el cheapo one.

Slightly offtopic. I bought a few 2m lightning cables from eBay for around $1.50 each. They look and feel identical to the Apple originals, except they won't work in the USB3 ports on my machine.

The company that sold them was Apus, who go by another name, Shopping Square.

Even though my cables were about 10x cheaper than these cables, they weren't originals - hence, my comments. But, as an OzBargainer, it's always good to know options (and their pitfalls). I certainly wouldn't mod down this deal based on my experience.

I certainly wouldn't mod down this deal based on my experience.

Why would you 'mod' down this deal based on your eBay experience? This is a genuine Apple cable from Big W and therefore wouldn't have the problems related to the cable you bought from eBay.

        His point exactly.

    • cheaper lightening to USB cables are only about to 'charge' and not 'sync'. Sometimes after a few uses, they even stop charging, poor quality contacts. Why spend $400-900 on your iDevice and then use a $2 cable. Get the real cable and request Apple reduce the price on their cables (they sure can afford lower margins on their cables).

I've been using these generic cables for the last 2-3 months and have not had any issues other than the "this accessory is not supported" message. This deal is still available for those interested - 5 for $4.28 when you sign up and use the coupon 2222.

  • I think if your buying the cheaper ones off eBay you need to make sure they are 'lightning compatible' otherwise you will have issues, they are a little more expensive than the generic cables however some sellers advertise their cables are lightning compatible when they aren't at all.

Correct me if I am wrong.

I bought 3 using the code and click&collect

    Total is $44

paid with wish gift card 5% discount from Autoclub

    44*0.95=41.8

    Thus $13.93 each

  • The non official cables force iOS7 to charge slower etc

    • I don't think that's true, it all comes down to the chargers amperage.

      • +1

Wrong. Non official charges a lot slower. Maybe you should try it yourself.

        • some non official ones fake the manufacturer check and charge at fullspeed.
really by the luck of the draw

awesome thanks. nothing beats the genuine ones. like previous users, i've gotten a few 'copies' off eBay that work for maybe 2 weeks then just die no matter how carefully i use them (eg. hold by plug when removing, etc).

  • +1

I've also bought cheap cables from eBay 1m and 2m versions, every single one has failed either in a couple of days or a couple of weeks.

  • Won't allow me to order. Says only available in store.

  • Its sold out i believe

  • Can't see any ordering icon in their website…should in in Stores:(

$18 for a cable, darn Apple.

Fakety fake ones are utter crap - avoid. Even at $18 these genuine cables are a complete rip off.

All the money you waste of $2-3 ones, you can buy one original that will last. If it doesn't, I'm sure you can return it within 12 months.
